Chapter 531: The Next Scene

~8 min read 1,513 words

"Now, those walking straight toward us."

"It is the Church of England formation."

Yu Lin's voice broadcast through the sound system that covered the square, and also through the live feeds of hundreds of media outlets worldwide, reaching everyone watching the live broadcast.

The crowd in the square automatically cleared a passage.

Everyone's gaze turned that way—a group dressed in clerical robes, with crosses hanging on their chests, slowly walking along the passage.

Church of England.

This sect was founded by Henry VIII after he broke with the Holy See over his divorce.

Today, they became the first "cutting" target.

There aren't many people in the formation.

Because not everyone was deployed, only Bishops, the Grand Archbishop, the Knight Commander and a senior knight—those truly at the top of power and truly qualified to be called "the upper echelons."

First clear the crooked beams, and the rest becomes much easier to handle.

Leading at the front is the Canterbury Archbishop, the current leader of the Church of England; his expression is calm, showing no hint of fear.

Why did they come first, instead of the Catholic faction under Francis?

The reason is simple.

This is the second time.

Hundreds of years ago, Yu Lin already carried out a purge in Yingguo once.

Today, using the Church of England as a test blade, we can see how it works.

To see whether they have improved over the years.

The formation walked up to the Sever Immortal Platform.

The execution platform suspended in the air cast a massive shadow, enveloping them within.

Yu Lin's gaze fell upon the group.

"Now," he began, "you may start praying."

His words fell.

The Canterbury Archbishop was the first to bow his head.

Those behind him also lowered their heads.

The entire Church of England formation, under the silent shadow of the Sever Immortal Platform, began to pray.

The crosses were gripped tightly.

Lips moved.

The prayers were low, murmuring, merging into a vague hum.

Then—

A light shone.

It did not come from the heavens nor from the Sever Immortal Platform, but from the crosses in their hands.

Those golden, silver, plain, and ornate crosses, at the same instant, emitted a gentle glow.

The light detached from the crosses, like slender beams, shooting upward—aimed at the suspended Sever Immortal Platform.

Then it fell onto the platform.

The black tabletop seemed activated; the patterns winding around its edge began to flow, accelerating, like glowing rivers rushing along the platform's rim!

Then—

Wha‑la!

Three chains shot out from the Sever Immortal Platform!

They were as fast as lightning yet as heavy as mountains, bearing irresistible force, precisely binding three people—a Grand Archbishop and two Bishops.

There wasn't a single Knight, perhaps thanks to the Twelve Knights of the Round Table?

In short.

The three didn't even have time to shout; they were already tightly bound by the chains, suspended in mid‑air.

Then, that voice sounded.

Gentle.

Yet utterly indifferent.

As if it came from far away, yet whispered right beside each ear.

Although many of them were hearing it for the first time.

But they knew who it was.

Their Lord!

"Guilty."

The chains tightened abruptly.

The three were dragged toward the Sever Immortal Platform, toward that execution platform from the Xia Guo Heavenly Court.

They struggled, they shouted, they prayed, but it was of no use.

At the center of the Sever Immortal Platform, a gate blade rose slowly.

The blade had no sheen, yet a single glance made one's soul tremble.

The gate blade descended.

There was no scream.

Only three muffled, almost simultaneous sounds—

Puff.

The head hits the ground.

Fresh blood streams down from the Sever Immortal Platform, following the patterns, merging into thin rivulets, then disappearing at the edge of the platform's surface, swallowed by the surging clouds and mist.

By normal standards, that's not enough.

The Sever Immortal Platform can even sever the Soul.

Both spirit and Soul are annihilated, never to be reborn.

But this time, it's different.

The three Souls that had just left their bodies hadn't had time to dissipate before the Sever Immortal Platform's power completely obliterated them—

An invisible portal silently opened beneath them.

It was a dark, deep gate exuding an aura of sin.

Hell Gate!

Yu Lin had already made contact with Satan, so as soon as their Souls emerged, they were pulled into Hell.

The Souls screamed and struggled, then were swallowed by that dark portal.

Then the portal closed, as if it had never appeared.

The square fell into utter silence.

Only Yu Lin's voice broke the silence.

"Not bad, only three people. Looks like the previous method was useful."

His gaze swept over the remaining National Church high officials; the survivors looked back at him without the slightest fear, upright and unperturbed.

"Then," Yu Lin waved his hand:

"You may leave. Next."

He turned his head and looked at Pope Francis standing on the high platform behind him.

"Francis, send your men forward."

Pope Francis stepped forward immediately, his voice booming as he shouted:

"Alright!"

He turned to the Catholic high officials waiting behind him—Red Cloaked Cardinal, Grand Archbishop, and others—a sea of darkness, far more numerous than the National Church line earlier.

"You all heard that!" Pope Francis's voice echoed across the square, "Form a line!"

The line moved.

The Catholic high officials, clad in various ceremonial cloaks, streamed out like fish, heading toward the Sever Immortal Platform.

They stopped.

Crosses were raised.

Prayer began.

Light flared, denser and brighter than before.

It rose from the crosses and shot toward the Sever Immortal Platform.

Then—

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound of chains firing merged into a single roar.

Dozens of chains shot out simultaneously from the Sever Immortal Platform, like a swarm of venomous snakes lunging at prey, precisely coiling around the people in the line.

One, two, five, ten— the number of people bound by chains far exceeded that of the National Church earlier!

There are too many sinners!

They were dragged to the Sever Immortal Platform, pinned onto the black execution platform, and slashed by the gate blade!

Puff. Puff. Puff.

Just like before.

The Soul, the moment it left the body, was swallowed by the Hell Gate opened below, not even a scream could be uttered!

The trial lasted a full day.

From noon to dusk, from dusk to deep night, from deep night back to dawn.

The Catholics fared relatively well—though many were guilty, at least most left the Sever Immortal Platform alive.

The Protestant sects, except for the Church of England that had already been "tested," could almost be described as having "heavy casualties."

Some sects sent ten Bishops; after prayer, seven chains fell.

Seven people went to Hell.

The remaining three stood there, looking uncomfortable.

It's unclear whether they're upset about their own sect's disgrace, about having joined the wrong sect, or about these colleagues...........

One day and one night.

The Hell Gate opened and closed repeatedly, and it's unknown how many souls were swallowed.

Satan was probably swamped, simultaneously receiving these new "residents" while silently thanking Yu Lin for the troops and food he sent.

Until the next day's dawn.

The eastern sky turned a pale fish‑belly white, the first ray of dawn pierced the clouds, shining on Shengbideguangchang and also on the Sever Immortal Platform still suspended in the air.

The bloodstains had dried, merging into the black surface, as if they had never existed.

But everyone knew they had existed.

Yu Lin stepped forward again.

No fatigue or emotion could be read on his face.

He simply stood there, his gaze sweeping over the still‑shaken crowd in the square, then spoke.

The voice remained calm, yet it clearly drilled into everyone's ears.

「Well then, let's begin the next one. 」

His gaze turned to the other side—there stood a group of people, completely different from the church high-ranking officials in ceremonial robes just now.

Western suits, luxurious attire, well-maintained faces.

That was the 'guest' brought from America.

The high-ranking class.

Politicians, financiers, those who left their names on De Laike's list, those who deeply cooperated with the Blood Wolf Gang, those who condoned, promoted, or even personally created countless crimes.

And many more—people who thought they hid well, but were all caught out!

Yu Lin looked at them, the corners of his mouth slightly rising, revealing a smile of ambiguous meaning.

"In order to demonstrate humanitarian concern, do you still have anything to quibble about?"

The group stared at each other.

Some turned deathly pale, some forced composure, some began to tremble.

Finally, a white-haired elder stepped out from the ranks.

He wore a meticulously tailored close-fitting outfit, his hair immaculately groomed, and a white handkerchief was pinned in his chest pocket.

His face was aged, yet vigorous; at a glance one could tell he was someone who had long held high office and issued commands.

He walked up to Yu Lin and stopped.

He bowed slightly, his posture respectful yet dignified.

"Esteemed Saint," he said, his voice aged and steady:

"Please let us speak."
