Chapter 592: Transforming the Ruins
When he came out, the sky had already completely darkened.
Ning Ya followed behind Yu Lin, her mind still replaying the scenes she had just seen deep in the ruins.
The crowned statue, the long corridor, those lifelike statues—she couldn't help but glance back.
The Bronze Door glowed with a faint light in the darkness.
"Eh!"
Just as everyone was about to step forward to greet and chat, Yu Lin suddenly stopped.
Ning Ya almost bumped into his back, quickly braking her steps. "What's wrong?"
Yu Lin didn't answer.
He simply turned around, facing the ruins, and fell silent for a moment.
Then, under everyone's gaze, he raised his hand.
"Let's alter it; after all, leaving this place as is is also leaving it as is."
Ning Ya instinctively asked: "Alter what?"
"You'll see soon enough." Yu Lin's hand was steady.
That hand was casually lifted, as if doing something utterly ordinary.
But that very hand had just pushed open the Bronze Door, had just made those black monsters freeze like sculptures, and had just brought light into the darkness.
At this moment, that hand gently grasped the ruins!
The earth began to tremble.
Not the violent shaking of an earthquake that makes one lose footing, but a deeper rumble rising from the depths below, as if something had been awakened!
The gravel under Ning Ya's feet jumped, and not far away, the stone blocks entwined with vines rolled down; the whole ruins faintly glowed!
That light surged from every stone, every crack, every rune, as if the stars that had slept for a thousand years were finally awakened!
They gathered together, condensing into a pillar of light above the ruins, shooting straight to the horizon.
The light pillar pierced the treetops, pierced the clouds, illuminating the entire night sky.
In the distance, the waiting crowd exclaimed.
Some stood up, some knelt down, some just stared blankly upward, gazing at that pillar connecting heaven and earth!
Ning Ya also lifted her head, her mouth open wide enough to fit an egg!
"Damn, playing this big......"
Then she saw something even more unbelievable.
Those light pillars began to split.
One, two, four, eight——they spread downward like tree roots, cutting, reshaping, and rebuilding the entire ruins!
The ground rose, stones flew, vines crawled like living things, only to be swallowed by light the next second.
The Bronze Door closed by itself, then sank into the ground, replaced by a portal condensed from light.
Boom——the earth split open a bottomless chasm, then healed in the light.
Boom——a tower shot up from the ground, then shattered midway, turning into nine staggered platforms.
Boom——the whole ruins seemed to be folded, stretched, and remolded; every stone moved, every seam reorganized, every inch of space redefined!
Ning Ya could no longer speak.
She saw those originally black monsters, the ones that had chased her half the forest and could not be killed no matter how she struck, now being drawn by an invisible force, flying one after another into the depths of the ruins.
They offered no resistance, or rather, could not resist.
The light enveloped them, compressing, reshaping, remodeling them.
When they reappeared, they had become stone gatekeepers, standing silently there, awaiting the next challenger!
Then came the mechanisms.
Ning Ya personally saw that the originally headache-inducing maze passages were rearranged by light into layer upon layer of staggered spaces.
Each layer had different terrain, different environment, different trial.
Some layers were seas of lava flowing like fire, some were snowfields frozen for thousands of miles, some were forests shrouded in mist, some were mazes dense with runes.
Each layer had monsters, each layer had mechanisms, each layer had——opportunity!
Yu Lin raised his other hand.
His left hand grabbed at the void, as if pulling something out of an invisible pocket.
Ning Ya narrowed her eyes and saw faintly that it was a ginseng plant, not large, just palm-sized, with intact roots, its whole body emitting a faint golden light.
Yu Lin tossed it casually.
The ginseng shot like a meteor across the night sky, falling deep into the ruins.
Where it landed, the previously barren rock instantly cracked, spewing warm spring water!
The spring water seeped into the stone cracks, soaked the soil, and around that ginseng turned into a small damp hollow.
Then the ginseng began to grow!
For every inch it grew, a tender green sprout appeared around it.
Those sprouts broke through the soil, visibly growing taller, sprouting leaves, flowering, bearing fruit.
In the blink of an eye, that small hollow had become a lush medicinal field!
Ganoderma, polygonum multiflorum, snow lotus, dendrobium——countless precious herbs swayed in the field, emitting a faint spiritual light!
And that original ginseng had already grown into a small humanoid figure over a foot tall, its roots turned into limbs, the ginseng body faintly showing a face.
It ran a lap around the medicinal field, then plunged headfirst into the deep soil and vanished!
Yu Lin grabbed again.
This time it was a few stones.
It looks like an ordinary stone, gray and dull, completely unremarkable.
But when he threw them out, the stones began to glow in midair.
They spun and fell into different corners of the ruins—some sank to the bottom of the water, some lodged in the stone walls, some landed on the tops of high towers.
After the light faded, they turned into various objects—a short sword, a bronze mirror, a small cauldron, and a bamboo slip whose writing was illegible.
Each exuded a faint spiritual aura, each seemed to have crossed over from some great era, waiting to be discovered!
Not just these.
Yu Lin waved his hand again, and countless more rays of light fell down.
They manifested with varying ranks, but they were treasures and precious medicines of boundless power!
Having done all this, Yu Lin clapped his hands:
"All right."
The light slowly faded, and the ruins grew quiet.
It was no longer the gloomy, monster‑filled wreck it had been before.
The nine terraces were staggered, each with its own appearance, its own challenges, its own opportunities.
Yu Lin turned around and gave a grin to the crowd still standing there, dumbfounded.
"Anyone can take anything in here, anyone can come in to explore."
"Of course, whether you live or die, whether you can bring anything out—depends on your luck."
The crowd stared blankly at him, at the ruins that had been transformed heaven and earth, unable to speak for a long time.
Their mouths hung open, their eyeballs nearly popping out.
One simply sat down on the ground, another's sword clanged to the floor with a "clang," and another rubbed his eyes hard, wondering if he was dreaming.
Yu Lin added, "From now on we'll mark it on the map…"
"Well, let's call it the God King Ruins."
He scratched his head.
"Uh, kind of weird, huh?"
Ning Ya stood behind him, the corner of her mouth twitching.
But she didn't say anything.
She just looked at the ruins, at the flowing runes, at the ginseng sprouting in the medicine field, at the treasures lying asleep throughout the ruins.
She knew that from today on, this patch of forest that no one had cared about would become a holy land longed for by countless cultivators!
All of this was nothing more than something Yu Lin did offhand!
"Forget it, I'm done with you." Yu Lin waved at the crowd, turned and walked forward, "Bye‑bye, see you around if we get the chance."
"Hey! Wait for me!" Ning Ya hurried to catch up, running while shouting back at her few subordinates:
"Just head back on your own, remember to write the report!"
Those subordinates nodded blankly.
Yu Lin walked ahead, his steps leisurely.
Ning Ya followed behind him, unable to resist glancing back one more time at the ruins.
Mm, impressive.
She withdrew her gaze and quickened her pace to keep up with Yu Lin.
"Yu Lin."
"Huh?"
"Those things inside—can really anyone take them?"
Yu Lin didn't even turn his head: "Didn't I say anyone can?"
"What if someone just grabs them recklessly?"
Yu Lin's steps didn't stop.
His voice drifted forward from ahead, light and airy, yet it made Ning Ya's heart inexplicably tighten.
"Then it depends on whether they have the fate for it."
"Those who kill will be killed in turn, right?"
Ning Ya didn't speak again.
She merely silently marked in her heart a row of candles for those who might harbor ill intentions.
But Yu Lin's next words put a smile all over her face:
"Of course, my friends can go in and take whatever they want—for example, you."
"Really?"
"Am I someone who lies?"
"Great! I will forever support you, Saint Yu Lin!"
"Then why not give Saint Yu Lin a shoulder rub………"
