Chapter 82: The Haunted House Really Has Ghosts

~6 min read 1,062 words

Bang bang.

Yu Lin, who had been lying in bed for several days, was interrupted by the knocking sound while scrolling through videos.

He yawned, got up, and walked toward the door:

"Here it comes, here it comes."

He opened the door and saw Qin Zhao, with Bai Xiaoxia, standing at the entrance, smiling at him:

"Yu Lin, going out to play? Our training just finished, and the teacher gave us a two‑day break."

"Yeah, yeah, Yu Lin—bro, they just opened a new amusement park, and there's a Haunted House there that's said to be really scary!"

"Alright." Yu Lin glanced outside and asked curiously:

"Where's ZhouYi?"

Qin Zhao shrugged, "He needs to go back inside for a bit, saying he has to prepare some kind of ritual or something."

"Never mind him, change clothes quickly, let's set off!"

"Fine." Yu Lin thought for a moment, and his pajamas changed into casual wear.

Qin Zhao and Bai Xiaoxia watched, enviously.

After all, even the cheapest yellow‑tier outfit starts at a hundred contribution points.

But it doesn't matter; after they finish the course, doing more missions will let them afford it.

"Let's go, uh." Just as Yu Lin was about to step out, he seemed to remember something and called back to Dragon Lord:

"Dragon Lord, are you coming?"

Dragon Lord waved his claw:

"Not going, not going. Just bring me something tasty when you get back."

"Alright."

Yu Lin closed the door and walked downstairs with Qin Zhao.

As for An Yu.

She has been free these days, helping at the welfare home and Da Xia Church, and only returned in the afternoon.

Yu Lin didn't call her back.

Not long after.

The three arrived at today's destination—Disneyland amusement park.

They paid extra for VIP tickets, avoiding the agony of queuing under the scorching sun, and quickly passed the ticket gate.

Upon entering the park, noisy music and laughter slammed into them; the rides were colorful, roller coasters whooshed by, carousels spun children around—everything was just like any other amusement park.

Only the Haunted House stood out especially.

The line in front of the Haunted House stretched for hundreds of meters, winding around almost half the plaza.

Even more striking were the people emerging from the exit—pale‑faced, legs trembling, some even needing a companion's support to get out.

A burly man stepped over the threshold and collapsed onto the floor, muttering, "It's real... too real..."

"I almost got scared enough to call for my mom..."

Bai Xiaoxia's eyes lit up, and she immediately grabbed Yu Lin's and Qin Zhao's arms: "Let's go, let's go! I have to see this! My friend went to seven, got scared at eight!"

Qin Zhao raised an eyebrow: "Hm?"

"Why is there an extra one?"

"The extra one is the one they'll call next!" Bai Xiaoxia explained with a laugh. "For example, if I also get scared, that would be eight gone, nine scared!"

"We're all good friends; I got scared, so you have to try too."

Qin Zhao understood at once, nodded, and said, "Makes sense; if I get scared, I'd definitely call a friend to try as well."

She turned to look at the long line, her mouth twitching:

"But this line is way exaggerated, huh?"

Just as she was about to ask Yu Lin whether to buy some drinks first, she noticed Yu Lin staring intently at the direction of the Haunted House, his gaze unusually focused.

"Yu Lin, what are you looking at?" Qin Zhao asked curiously.

Yu Lin withdrew his gaze, a faint, meaningful smile curling his lips: "Nothing."

"It seems there really are ghosts inside."

"Huh?" Qin Zhao and Bai Xiaoxia both frowned.

Others might still doubt, but when Yu Lin says there are, there definitely are.

Back when he first did a mission, he even happened to perform a ghost‑removing task!

Seeing their nervous faces, Yu Lin patted their shoulders and said with a smile:

"Alright, no need to be nervous; it's just a part‑time ghost, not a malicious one."

"Let's go, join the line."

He said that and walked forward, joining the queue.

Hearing him, the two relaxed.

Loosening his perception a bit and probing carefully, he could indeed sense a gloomy aura emanating from the Haunted House,

Actually, the line's length is just about that.

After all, ten people enter at a time; six are scared out within three minutes, and among the remaining four, the longest‑lasting one only makes it halfway.

When it was Yu Lin's turn, none of them could finish the Haunted House.

After ticket checking, staff handed each of them a red button, explaining:

"If you get scared midway and want to quit, press this button and our staff will immediately escort you out."

Bai Xiaoxia took the button, grinning as she strapped it to her wrist: "Don't worry, we're brave!"

The three pushed aside the heavy black curtains and stepped into the Haunted House.

The temperature dropped sharply.

Unlike the outside heat, the Haunted House was cold and damp, as if they had instantly entered another world.

Bai Xiaoxia rubbed her arms and whispered, "The air‑conditioner is way too strong…".

"It's not necessarily the air‑conditioner," Qin Zhao said warily, scanning the surroundings, trying to locate the "working ghost" Yu Lin mentioned.

Yet in the dim hallway only a few flickering green lights cast a sickly hue on faces.

Yu Lin, however, moved as if he knew the place well, walking straight ahead.

Turning a corner, an old television appeared ahead, its screen playing static Noise Point.

Suddenly, the image flickered; a long‑haired woman covering her face appeared on the screen, mechanically repeating, "I… I'm so lonely…".

"Ka!" the TV abruptly went black.

The next second, a pale hand reached out from the screen!

The woman slowly crawled out of the TV, her long hair trailing, her voice eerie:

"Come… play with me…".

She lowered her head, ready to enjoy the tourists' terrified scramble—

"Hello there."

A clear, bright voice came from overhead.

The female ghost was startled, slowly raising her head.

Yu Lin was squatting in front of the TV, smiling warmly at her, even raising his hand to grasp hers:

"Why is your hand so cold? Here, let me warm it."

"............" the female ghost remained silent.

Something was off, a hundred percent off!

How is this guy not afraid of her?!
