Chapter 1: Transmigration and Divine Grace
One night, a player opened TWW2. He muttered to himself while watching the heavy rain outside the window,
"Warhammer 3 has only released two races and then there's been no news. Sigh, let's just play this FLC to make do for now. Reclaim the lost mountain holds, recover the lost artifacts, restore the glory of the Mountain Kingdom..."
Suddenly, a flash of lightning, and he transmigrated. Before he could regain his senses, he found himself appearing in a bright space.
Blinking his eyes, he saw a female Dwarf, "My name is Valaya, Mother of the Dwarfs, Goddess of home, holds, healing, and unity."
The female Dwarf flicked her golden hair that dragged to her feet and spoke:
"Outlander, are you truly willing to fulfill your oath?"
"Good grief, do I even have a choice? Can you give me a Dark Elf? Not for anything else, I just want to see the Witch Elf ladies, or a Demon Toad (Slann Mage-Priest) would be fine too..."
"Listen to me, child," the Goddess interrupted his rambling, "I have seen the future in my slumber. You should know of it: the End Times."
She paused, her expression twitching slightly, "The Lord of Undeath Nagash has disrupted my plans, drained my magic, and destroyed my contingencies. My children have been killed or wounded in droves. I need a variable, and that is you."
Hearing this, the player nodded, "I understand the backstory. It's just the End Times, right? A Dwarf is fine, better than a bone-man. Let's talk about cheats and identity. I want... ugh, urgh."
"There is no time, child. Remember: Where the oath goes, as firm as stone! Good luck!"
As his consciousness gradually drifted away from that illusory space, he felt a physical body, followed by fragmented memories and an intense sense of weakness.
He tried to move his body, but as soon as he moved his arm, he felt heart-wrenching pain. "Urgh..." Before he could sort through the original memories of this body, he let out a painful groan.
"Grungni's beard!"
"Valaya be praised, he's finally awake!"
"Hahaha, looks like my hair dye won't be needed for now!"
Listening to the noisy cheers around him, he felt himself lying on a stretcher with a deep wound on his chest. He had just opened his mouth to ask what the situation was when a mouthful of spicy liquid was poured into his mouth.
"Hey, you need this, Bergman's brew. This will make you feel better, Little Beard!"
"Cough, cough, cough..." The intense stimulation was more than he could bear for a moment. Dwarf beer was almost comparable in strength to the hard liquor of his past life. He triggered his wound once more and let out a painful groan.
Various mutterings rose up around him again:
"The youngsters these days are getting worse and worse!"
"Back in my day, I took three slashes and still twisted off the heads of four rats!"
Just as he was being tortured both physically and mentally, a crisp female voice saved him:
"Sinuoli needs rest, Uncle Longchui. The Mother Goddess's grace kept him from returning to the embrace of the ancestors immediately, but his injuries cannot withstand such tossing about. Also, put your flagon away and give him some fresh water."
Having gained some peace, the player lay on the stretcher and began to organize the memories of the body's original owner and his own past life.
He had arrived in the world of Warhammer, a world where many fantasy races such as Elves, Dwarfs, Vampires, and Humans were active. The body he occupied belonged to the Dwarf race, a race created at the beginning of the world, ancient and diligent, but gradually entering its twilight.
They worshiped their Ancestor Gods, the three most important of whom were:
Grungni—the God of mining and smithing, who taught the Dwarfs how to excavate and shape the metals hidden in the earth;
Grimnir—the Dwarf God of War;
And the aforementioned Valaya. She was the wife of both Grungni and Grimnir. Polygamy was not uncommon in Dwarf society because there were only about half as many Dwarf women as men.
Most of their children became lesser gods in the Dwarf pantheon, such as Sidemunier, the God of ore and smithing, Thurni, the God of Rune Smiths, and Mogelimu, the God of Engineers.
The Dwarfs built a large number of holds during their Golden Age and forged many powerful weapons and equipment, but they suffered heavy losses in the War of the Beard against the Elves. Subsequently, earthquakes and the constant attacks by Greenskins and Skaven caused the mountain holds to fall one after another.
Since then, with the development of Dwarf technology and the establishment of the Empire of Man, the Dwarf Kingdom gradually recovered its vitality, but it never returned to its former glory.
The body he occupied was named Sinuoli Suorsen, the youngest son of the current High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer.
In the social structure of the Dwarfs, every hold had an independent King. The High King, as the King of the hold Karaz-a-Karak, nominally enjoyed the allegiance of the Kings of other Dwarf holds,
But in reality, when the Dwarf High King called upon other Dwarf Kings, he did so more as an equal, persuading them with the bonds of friendship between Dwarf kin rather than through powerful commands.
Every Dwarf Clan possessed a Book of Grudges to record the injuries and acts of treachery suffered by the clan, while the High King held the Great Book of Grudges, which recorded all Dwarf grudges.
This book was written in the High King's blood, and only they had the authority to add new grudge entries or cross out resolved ones.
Sinuoli's profession was a Rune Smith. Dwarfs could not use magic, but they could forge the letters of their language into items in different ways to utilize magic; this form was known as a Rune.
As those who forged runes, Rune Smiths used their hammers as a medium to inscribe the power of the Winds of Magic into the rune carvings.
Besides forging powerful weapons and equipment for their kin, they could also suppress enemy magic in battle, apply buffs to surrounding comrades through runes, or fight with weapons and armor they had crafted themselves—after all, every Dwarf was a born warrior.
The current time was the year 6943 of the Dwarf calendar. The Greenskin Warlord "Grom the Paunch" Gulu raised an army from the Mist Mountain and launched an unprecedented Waaagh!, sweeping across the entire Badlands, with his military spearhead pointed directly at the Dwarf mountains.
High King Thorgrim launched the Battle of Iron Gate to stop him, which was also the first time Sinuoli had joined the army in battle.
During the campaign, he was assigned to stand in the rear ranks with the Quarrellers. As the battle deepened, the front-line Dwarf battle formations were gradually broken through by the Greenskin Heralds, and the crossbowmen ran out of ammunition, drawing their sidearms to join the fray.
Sinuoli swung his hammer to strike the Hearth and Home Rune, boosting the morale of his kin who were locked in a bitter struggle, and then drew a sharp Battle Axe.
Just as he was preparing to charge at the Greenskin Big 'Uns attacking from the front, he heard a series of shouts from the flank. Looking to the side, he saw a fat Goblin whose belly was almost dragging to his instep, holding a huge Battle Axe and speeding toward him on a dilapidated chariot, followed closely by a squad of Goblin Wolf Riders.
"Form ranks!!" Sinuoli let out a desperate roar, "Valaya be praised!" He called out the names of the Ancestor Gods and charged toward the fat figure on the wolf chariot.
"Beardless stuntie!" This was the last sound Sinuoli heard before losing consciousness. He was sent flying by the impact of the chariot, and then his armor was split open by an Exquisite Quality Battle Axe that slashed across his chest.
His soul went to the halls of the Ancestor Gods, while a soul from another world occupied his body.
