Chapter 331: Single Combat with Queek

~7 min read 1,312 words

Gotrek Gurnisson is the son of a commoner, and the equipment he inherited truly has nothing extraordinary about it. After securing his loyalty, Sinuoli's first priority was to arm his own champion warrior; after all, "a good horse deserves a good saddle."

But in truth, this encountered some difficulties; Gotrek does not like heavy Plate Armor, as it would affect his agility. He chose to continue wearing the work clothes he had when he was an Engineer, which offered some protection. Sinuoli had no objections to this; after all, it is Mr. Gotrek, so even going shirtless would be perfectly reasonable.

The armor was average, and the weapon was also hard to match. The Dwarf King himself did not have a legendary Battle Axe, so naturally, he could not provide one for his subordinate. What Gotrek holds is a standard-issue epic weapon of the same model as Sinuoli's; as for that legendary Battle Axe of Grimnir, he will just have to wait for an opportunity to procure one himself in the future.

"Hu, beard-thing, you should go, should go challenge a mindless pack-beast, not me, the right claw of the great Genuoduoer, Queek Headtaker of Clan Mors!"

Gotrek's unremarkable equipment gave Queek full confidence. While announcing its name, it stretched out its dual blades and spun them in the air to get a feel for them. Seeing their leader accept the challenge, the Stormvermin cleared a path leading straight to Gotrek.

"Glory belongs to, belongs to Clan Mors! As for, as for your head, hehe, my rack has no, no space left for a stinking cart-puller!"

Queek twitched its nose, staring with crimson rat-eyes at Gotrek's thick, short neck. It had entered the zone, greedily probing for every possible flaw on its enemy.

"You've successfully pissed me off, rat!" Queek's highly aggressive gaze made Gotrek very uncomfortable as well. He slammed his large flag into the pile of corpses and dragged his Battle Axe behind him as he walked toward Queek.

"I am Gotrek Gurnisson, Flag Bearer to the King of the Southlands! Your head, I'm taking it!"

Fury filled Mr. Gotrek's chest; what he hates most right now is others bringing up his status as a transport Captain!

After receiving an exceptional promotion from Sinuoli, he used his fists and axe to silence all voices questioning his strength, but there were still some Longbeard veterans who muttered about his beard and experience.

Queek needs his head to stabilize its troops, and isn't it the same for Gotrek? He also needs a feat worthy of praise to silence the gossip in the taverns. This big rat has been designated by the Ancestor Chosen as the "Enemy of the Qunshan," and its head would be just right!

"Die!"

"Die! Die!"

Two young but highly combat-gifted warriors began to sprint when they were a dozen steps apart, both holding the thought of winning with a single strike.

"Clang!"

The Battle Axe and the Warpstone Warblade collided head-on, emitting a crisp sound.

"Ugh!" Queek let out a muffled grunt and retreated three or four steps; it paid the price for its underestimation.

According to the classification method of the world where that Mountain King lives, warrior professions are divided into three types: Protection Warrior with a one-handed weapon and Shield, Arms Warrior wielding a long weapon with two hands, and Fury Warrior holding a weapon in each hand.

Headtaker naturally belongs to the last type, and in any world, such a loadout is extremely rare. While dual-wielding increases killing efficiency, it also greatly elevates the risk, placing higher demands on the warrior's own Strength, technique, and even financial resources.

In the first round of confrontation, Queek attempted to use the weapon in its right claw to parry Gotrek's Battle Axe, so that its freed left-claw blade could directly pluck off the Dwarf's head. But the moment they made contact, it felt the power coming from the Battle Axe was difficult to parry with a single claw, and it only narrowly received the blow by retracting its blade and changing moves at the last second.

"Pah!"

Gotrek spat, and the Dwarf and the rat stood a few steps apart, beginning to re-examine their opponent.

"This guy has some tricks!"

Once an expert makes a move, one knows if they are any good. A single round of confrontation caused both sides to set aside their underestimation.

"Thump!"

Queek was the first to break the brief standoff. Its two strong hind legs exerted force, and it leaped into mid-air, swinging its dual blades in a move of Dark Clouds Covering the Peak. Realizing the gap in strength, it wanted to compensate from other aspects.

"Hah!"

Gotrek did not show weakness; he held his Battle Axe diagonally upward, parrying the greenish warblades.

"Creak, creak!"

The two warriors gritted their teeth in a test of strength, their weapons rubbing back and forth.

"Bang!"

As the saying goes, power rises from the ground; Queek's mid-air strike did not overwhelm the Dwarf, and after landing, it was no longer a match when trying to exert force again. Gotrek exerted force with both arms to shake off the dual blades, then seized the opportunity to kick the Skaven in the crotch.

"You, you don't play by the rules!" Headtaker felt the pain and let out a strange cry, clutching its crotch with its left claw as it retreated several more steps.

"Hmph, a rat in the gutter is worthy of mentioning that?" Gotrek naturally would not let this good opportunity slip; he brandished his Battle Axe and pressed forward, cold light flashing repeatedly.

"Die! Die!"

Just as the axe was about to make Headtaker's head move house, the big rat suddenly twisted its body and dodged nimbly, then the right-claw blade flew quickly from behind to stab at the Dwarf's neck. Sure enough, the force of one kick was not enough to injure Queek through the Warpstone Fragment Armor.

"Careful!"

Belegar stood on the Oath Stone and saw it clearly; he knew Queek's strength, and being able to suppress this up-and-coming star of Clan Mors made the master of Eight Peaks look at Captain Gao of the transport team with new eyes.

"Dare to play tricks with your Grandpa Gao!"

The Dwarf rotated the axe handle, turning the slash into a block, knocking aside the Skaven's warblade, then flicked it upward, aiming for the lower abdomen again.

"Clang-clang! Clang-clang!"

Queek's blade technique was naturally exquisite; it used Gotrek's force to rotate its own body, the two warblades in its claws slashing continuously like a windmill.

"Good fellow, are you playing Whirlwind here?" Sinuoli watched the big rat spinning like a top, his eyes wide. This set of combat techniques was nothing short of flashy; the rat-folk cheered loudly, while the Dwarfs held their breath nervously.

Gotrek was clearly seeing this for the first time; he whirled his Battle Axe into an impenetrable defense, struggling to resist Queek's blade light, which was like a violent storm. Even so, a bloodstain appeared on his cheek, and a few strands of broken beard drifted into the air.

"Hah! Light as a feather, are you dancing with Grandpa Gao?"

Clearly, such a Whirlwind slash consumes a lot of stamina; Gotrek looked for patterns and flaws while parrying. Finally, he caught a slight opening and thrust the sharp corner of his axe straight toward Queek's chest.

"Screech!"

The axe tip poked right into Queek's chest, but the red-and-green Plate Armor played its part; the blow failed to pierce in and instead slid off to the side. The Skaven sneered and brought its dual blades together in front of its body; Gotrek, having exhausted his momentum, was forced to roll to dodge.

"A pity." The Dwarf readjusted his stance and held his Battle Axe horizontally; he muttered softly, squinting his eyes to find a way to break the armor.
