Chapter 333: Joining Forces
The Skaven were soon routed like a collapsing mountain; once they lost their leaders, the Clan Mors Stormvermin were no braver than their inferior kin. The Dwarfs' pursuit was brief, as the current forces at Keladeluomen were very limited.
"If it weren't for you and your warriors arriving in time, we would have truly been in trouble! Leave the cleaning of the battlefield to my men; although this place is desolate, there is plenty of fine wine in the storehouses to moisten our throats."
Returning to the city, Belegar pulled Sinuoli aside to express his gratitude. The transmigrator was also in a very good mood; with the generals and the God of War of the Eight Peaks' "Iron Triangle" having fallen one after another, there were far fewer major obstacles for the rightful owner beside him to reclaim his ancestral home.
"It is not yet time to relax, my dear friend! Although the leading rat has died under the warrior's sharp axe, the remaining marauders are still harassing the mountains!" Sinuoli pressed his hand on Belegar's shoulder; he did not intend to let the rats return to the mountains just like that.
"King Kazador and his men will block the northern passage, and my men will prevent them from fleeing south." The movements of the ratmen were not hard to guess; having lost most of their leaders, the rats could not organize any thousand-mile march, and it was nothing more than each returning to their own home.
"Then these parts shall be under your command!" Belegar felt dizzy looking at the paths on the map. Up to now, his combat career had revolved around one main theme—charging into a fortress and then trying to hold it; this was true for Eight Peaks, and it was true for Keladeluomen.
Entrusting Thoroni to contact his main force and the Tiefengbao army, Sinuoli called for Gotrek. Analyzing the strength Queek had just displayed, he realized that if he maintained his Dwarf form, he probably would not be able to take down the future God of War of Eight Peaks.
"I have fulfilled my mission, my Majesty!"
Because of the wound on his back, Gotrek could only bow slightly; he had not participated in the pursuit just now but had instead received medical treatment for his wounds. There was not much joy on the young man's face; instead, he wore an expression of relief.
Except for Sinuoli himself, no one knew the immense significance of Queek. In the eyes of the clansmen, it was only natural for the champion warrior of the Exterminator of Plagues and Slayer of Demigods Sinuoli to be able to single-handedly slay a ratman Warlord.
"You, um, just received the grace of the God of War Grimnir?" The transmigrator twisted his neck and asked tentatively.
"Yes." Gotrek nodded with a calm face. Hearing this, Sinuoli was stunned; he was so busy processing the information behind the short answer that he did not reply for a long while.
"Isn't this expected? Or is it that it came so late that it disappointed you?" Gotrek looked up and saw the strange expression on the Ancestor Chosen's face, and he awkwardly scratched his head with his right hand.
"What? You know too?"
The Dwarf King frowned. The fact that Mr. Gao would become the chosen of Grimnir—the most failed Slayer, hacking through creatures including but not limited to Greater Daemons and Dragons on a path of seeking death—was theoretically only known to himself.
"Uh, I've heard a little bit, at least." Gotrek's Adam's apple bobbed twice; it seemed that the words he was about to say also needed some preparation.
"The Longbeard elders all say that the Ancestor Gods are watching you at all times, and Grimbrindal has also come to your side. Among the clansmen who follow you, there should always be someone who can receive their approval. I, a man of sin, was promoted by you to be the Flag Bearer, um."
Before Mr. Gao finished speaking, Sinuoli understood. Ever since the Ancestor Gods had "responded" to him one after another, the entire Mountain Kingdom had been looking forward to someone else receiving divine grace, and those widely considered to be top candidates had therefore borne some pressure.
Compared to older generations who had long been famous, such as Krag Master, Gotrek was more favored by rumors due to his lack of seniority and past mistakes.
"In any case, congratulations! The revival of the mountains will need your contribution!" Sinuoli gave his subordinate a beer; this was all benefit and no harm to him. As long as the news was released, the King of the Southlands could already foresee the scene of a large number of talents joining his command.
In the following half-month, the Helicopter squadron patrolled the skies of the Nan E Di to keep track of the fleeing rats at all times. Sinuoli sat in command at Keladeluomen, using the Communication Rune to maintain contact and exchange intelligence with the northern and southern lines.
The routed rat army discovered with horror that this time, it was no longer the Dwarfs being toyed with and pursued because of their slow movement speed. Somehow, they were able to repeatedly set ambushes on their escape routes.
After several interceptions, the leaderless and demoralized expedition rats had their formations broken. Considering that there was nowhere to resupply on the road ahead and that Greenskin warbands were waiting for them, it could be said that the fate of these fellows was already sealed.
"King Kazador and Master Thorek Ironbrow are about to arrive; make arrangements and prepare." Two days after his main force arrived at Keladeluomen, Sinuoli received news of the Tiefengbao army.
The hatred between this fortress, isolated in the Southlands, and Clan Mors occupied a large portion of their Book of Grudges. In order to completely annihilate that group of elite Stormvermin who wanted to flee back to Eight Peaks, King Kazador had spent extra time.
"Majesty Sinuoli! I have almost pulled my beard out waiting for this day! May the Ancestor Gods always protect you and our mountains!"
The Tiefengbao army approached from afar. Kazador Dragonslayer walked at the very front of the procession, followed by his old acquaintance Thorek Ironbrow and his Doom Anvil.
The Tiefengbao army looked well-disciplined; the battles along the way against Greenskins and rats had not caused them much loss. One of the top three best-fighting Dwarf kings, plus his Rune Master, was enough to solve most enemies.
Sinuoli and Belegar went up to meet them. The King of the Southlands was surprised to find that the master of Tiefengbao was quite tall, a head taller than himself and Belegar. At the same time, his physique was not the round shape common among Dwarfs, but relatively lean.
"Greetings to you, Majesty Kazador."
Sinuoli kept a humble attitude. The King of Tiefengbao was even older than Thorgrim, and as one of the few Dragonslayers among the contemporary Dwarfs, his combat power was also widely recognized.
"Belegar, you have grown a lot since we last met!"
Kazador looked at Belegar again. Tiefengbao and Eight Peaks were very close, and the royal family there had supported the expeditions of the Angrund Clan for generations, which could be described as a deep relationship.
"That is because Majesty Sinuoli represented them and guided me!"
Belegar said a few modest words, and then he led the Tiefengbao army to the pre-arranged camping site. After arranging food and lodging, the three kings went together to the council hall on the upper level of Keladeluomen.
"Please!"
"Not at all, in terms of reason and sentiment, you must sit in the middle!"
Sinuoli and King Kazador began to defer to each other regarding the seating.
