Chapter 336: Night Talk of Riding the Dragon
Pukuerte's deduction regarding his own lifespan did not surprise Sinuoli. In fact, in the current Dwarf Realms, the idea that he might one day ascend to godhood was no longer a deduction but close to a foregone conclusion; even the most conservative Living Ancestor admitted that Sinuoli could at least attain the status of a Demigod.
The Dwarf King himself believed this as well. Compared to surviving the End Times, getting himself a Godhood was not much of a challenge for a transmigrator; hadn't he already rejected the God of Fertility back at Zhuwangshan?
With this as a premise, if he didn't want his life of debauchery to end with his wife gone or withered just as it had begun, finding a partner with an equally long lifespan was indeed a good choice.
"That makes some sense, but leaving aside the Undead, should I go and snatch a wife from His Majesty Finubar, or compete for the position of stepfather to the Witch King Malekith?" Sinuoli's mind raced, and a moment later, he burst into loud laughter.
Aside from the gods, the number of immortals active in the Mortal World is limited, and the humanoid females from the games of his past life could be counted on two hands, and each one was already taken.
Among them, the three Elf clans accounted for a large proportion; the Everqueen Alarielle, the Witch Queen Molasi, and the Wood Elf Queen Ariel were theoretically all beauties of peerless grace. Although Sinuoli himself did not mind the so-called ancient Grudges, he feared his own kin would not be able to accept it.
"What a pity, what a pity! Why didn't that Lady of the Lake come to ferry me herself? If I were in a good mood, I might have just followed her!" Sinuoli drank the wine in his cup dry and let his imagination run wild; having read that famous work in his past life, it was impossible for him to have no thoughts at all.
"Ahem!" It seemed the King of the Southlands had been laughing strangely and lost in thought for too long, so the Scholar coughed lightly.
"Uh, hahaha! Please, go on, go on!" The Dwarf King came back to his senses, turning his body and crossing his legs to hide his embarrassment.
"The Grudge between your kin and the various Elf races is known to everyone in the Mortal World; naturally, I am not here to play such jokes on you." Sinuoli's dismissive attitude toward the Phoenix King and the Witch King made it difficult for Pukuerte to respond.
"In the eastern Cathay, you have close dealings with them. The Dragon Emperor Shenyang and the Moon Empress Guiyin gave birth to nine Dragon-Blooded, three of whom have hidden their forms amidst time and variables, while the remaining six who are active consist of three men and three women."
Pukuerte narrated slowly. Upon hearing the word Cathay, Sinuoli reined in his thoughts and focused again.
"Three men and three women. I am familiar with the Minglong Yin, so that leaves two other Longnü. Hmm, the Storm Dragon is one, and who is the remaining one?" That Jade Blood Clan member named Wan'er spoke eloquently about other situations, but was tight-lipped only regarding information about the Dragon Emperor's family.
"Shenzhu, the Longnü who legend says presides over light and hope." The Scholar did not disappoint the Dwarf King. "They can all transform into human forms; the men are heroic and imposing, and the women are all solemn and beautiful."
"Hehe, could it be that the old Dragon Emperor is short on sons-in-law?" Sinuoli licked his lips.
"Sons-in-law?" Pukuerte wore a puzzled expression.
"Hahaha, it just means husband of a daughter, a different way of saying it." The former Cathayan felt a surge of joy in his heart; he laughed it off to cover his tracks.
"The Dragon-Blooded are indeed all unmarried. I am merely providing you with a line of thought; as for how to handle it specifically, you must consider it yourself." The Human leaned back in his chair, signaling that he had finished speaking.
"Not bad, not bad!" The Dwarf King smiled. Although compared to a True Dragon of Cathay, a tiny Dwarf could be said to be very ordinary, he was quite confident!
"Last time in the city of Bordeleaux you didn't ask for a reward, so let's settle it all at once this time. Ask boldly, the King of the Southlands will satisfy your wish!"
"Thank you for your generosity. After traveling far and wide, I would like to find a place to settle down. Your territory is stable and prosperous, which suits my wishes perfectly. I wonder if you could grant me a plot of land here to open a school?" Pukuerte bowed slightly.
"Very well! It is the honor of the children of the Southlands to have the opportunity to receive instruction from a learned Zhezhe like you!"
Sinuoli praised him; he would have wanted to extend the invitation even if the Scholar hadn't proposed it himself! Once you have the population, the next step is to improve quality, and running schools to focus on education is the only way.
Although the two major sects also provide enlightenment education, their core purpose is to spread their faith. Having an additional choice outside of that is a good thing. He even wanted to let the children of his own clan attend and listen; broadening their horizons could do no harm.
"You may stay temporarily at the inn for now. I will arrange things immediately. With the efficiency of the Sons of the Mountains, your school will be able to start classes in less than a month!" Sinuoli stood up to see his guest out; it was getting late and he needed to rest.
That night, Sinuoli slept very soundly. He dreamed that he first drank the foot-washing water and licked it all up, then changed his profession to an Undead Knight to fight in the south and north, followed by fiercely settling a great Grudge with the pointy-ears, and finally becoming a literal son-in-law riding a dragon.
"Strange, truly strange. Where did he learn these fancy tricks? Could it be that some guy whose brain was scorched by pleasure got ahead of me? That shouldn't be either."
Pukuerte did not rest; he sat until dawn, muttering from time to time.
Early the next morning, Sinuoli boarded the train to return to Gaoyuanbao. The great battle at Keladeluomen had disrupted his original plans, but fortunately, this trip had many gains.
After getting off the train, he went straight to his workshop. The Apprentices reported that they had encountered some difficulties in manufacturing Rune guards. Even though Krag Master had provided the blueprints, this long-lost technology was not so easy to self-study.
Sinuoli stared blankly at the blueprints; his already shaky knowledge of Runes had been forgotten quite a bit over the past few years.
"Put down the work in your hands and come pray with me to the revered god Thurni!" After clicking open the system and seeing that his Revival Points were abundant, he simply decided not to waste his precious brain cells.
After going through a simple process and starting the Thurni ritual, the Apprentices who were previously at a loss suddenly had a breakthrough. These ambitious youths were grateful while working like oxen and horses, which made Sinuoli feel a bit unbearable, so he slipped away to avoid seeing it and feeling troubled.
Before he could return to the Dimaizhilujiedian to continue his research, news from Thorgrim arrived. Suojiade-Keluomsen of Dulongcheng had already set off; he would pass through the An gun he channel located at Siqiaotelaken, cross the Claw Sea, and arrive in the Old World.
Afterward, this Prince of Dulongcheng planned to cross the Empire of Man, enter the mountains along the Silver Road, and arrive at the Everpeak. After resting, he would set off again and follow the route of Sinuoli's expedition to reach Gaoyuanbao. Pondering this journey that spanned the Old World from north to south, Sinuoli felt a measure of respect for his brother-in-law whom he had never met.
This represented that Suojiade was willing to embrace new things and possessed a considerable spirit of enterprise. Such a trait was very rare for Dwarfs, especially for Norscan Dwarf who had long been disconnected from the Old World.
