Chapter 358: Meeting an Old Friend Again

~7 min read 1,344 words

The Ironclad's berth was said to be outside the harbor, but in reality, it was right on the edge; a few minutes later, a small boat carried Sinuoli to the shore.

The Dwarf King looked left and right, found a secluded spot to hop onto the bank, then activated Avatar of the Gods in a shaded area, spread his cloak, and swaggered out.

This Xuri Zhi Ta was the capital of the High Elf eastern colonies; besides Elves, there were plenty of other races. Sinuoli's stature in Stone Form, covered by his cloak, looked like a burly Ogre, so walking on the street wasn't too conspicuous.

Relying on a pre-planned route, Sinuoli turned left and right until he reached an inconspicuous side street; after tapping on a section of the wall in a rhythmic sequence, a hidden door opened, allowing him to slip inside.

After walking through a tunnel, he arrived at a suddenly spacious hall. Seven or eight out of ten guests wore hoods and cloaks to hide their faces, while the ones moving among them were all scantily clad beauties.

"This gentleman is a new face. What would you like to have?"

There were quite a few guests in the hall whose figures were clearly not humanoid. Sinuoli quickly found a sturdy chair for his broad frame, and just as he sat down, a heavily made-up woman approached him.

"Good heavens! It's actually a half-Elf."

The transmigrator looked down and saw her cleavage clearly, but what was more eye-catching were her ears; unlike the rounded ones of normal Humans, they were somewhat sharp and upturned, though not as pronounced as those of a High Elf.

Elves are naturally romantic and amorous; such mixed-blood children are the products of various accidents. Possessing the excellent genes of the Asur, they are equally slim and beautiful, and their unique ears add to their charm.

Half-Elves are equally rare in the Old World, and those who occasionally appear are quickly snatched up by great nobles to be kept as concubines. That this place allows them to accompany guests for drinks is, on one hand, because the business is truly well-connected, and on the other, because it is adjacent to the Elf residential area.

"Ahem, don't you know why I've come here?" Sinuoli coughed in a gruff voice and looked away.

"Oh my, why are you in such a hurry? Everyone knows it's for me~"

The hostess giggled and squeezed into his arms. The transmigrator saw the situation was going south and used his strength to keep her at a distance. This wasn't because he wanted to be a virtuous man who remains unmoved in the lap of a woman, but because his stone body would reveal the truth the moment she touched him.

"How boring! You have such a heavy hand; you've pinched me until it hurts~" Seeing Sinuoli so resolute, the woman had no choice but to pout and stand to the side.

"Open a private room for me, and bring some of the best food and drink, but no Dwarf ale. Also, about that pass—get me an expedited one!" Sinuoli twisted his neck and got straight to business.

"You're so generous. If you think it's too crowded here, why don't we go to your room later to have some fun~" Seeing Sinuoli spend so lavishly, the half-Elf tried one last sales pitch.

"Cut the crap, go do your job!"

After getting the items, Sinuoli didn't linger; he dropped a few gold coins and carried the tray upstairs. Xuri Zhi Ta is divided into an inner city and an outer city; to enter the inner city where the High Elves mainly operate, one needs a special pass.

Sinuoli didn't feel comfortable leaving this task to his subordinates; such a difficult mission of "infiltrating the enemy" is best known by as few people as possible. After finishing the local fusion cuisine and downing the fruit wine, he deactivated his skill and crawled into bed.

The next day, the Dwarf rose early and turned into his Stone Form to head toward the inner city. Before long, he saw a white city wall with even more delicate and exquisite reliefs. At the drawbridge by the gate, a squad of High Elf Changmaobing was checking identities one by one.

The guard glanced at him and let Sinuoli through, which left the set of excuses he had prepared unused. What he didn't know was that the guards had received orders these past few days to strictly check anyone short, and a stone statue nearly ten feet tall naturally didn't fall into that category.

Once inside the inner city, Sinuoli wished he had an extra pair of eyes. Xuri Zhi Ta is at a lower latitude with high temperatures, so the streets were full of beautiful Elves dressed in cool clothing; sleeveless dresses generously exposed their jade-like legs and lotus-root arms.

Sinuoli followed the crowd, wandering aimlessly while looking around, and soon arrived at the central square of the city. A set of sculptures of the gods of the heavens stood in the center; the gods the Elves believe in are divided into two factions, heaven and hell, with the latter being worshipped more by the Dark Elves.

At one end of the square, Sinuoli saw a club that provided food and drink. The elegant lintel, the beautiful promenade on the side, and the fragrant green plants told him this was a high-end place.

With plenty of shiny little darlings in his waist pouch, Sinuoli swaggered in, found a window seat with a good view, and took out ten gold coins to have the waiter bring a round of everything to eat and drink.

Although it was strange why an alien would patronize this place, there is no reason not to make money, so soon all kinds of exquisite snacks and drinks filled the small table.

On the small stage in the center of the hall, several Elf men and women were reciting poetry, accompanied by orchestral musicians. To the left, one played the harp; to the right, another played the flute—all were handsome men and beautiful women.

The club was a world unto itself. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Sinuoli watched the Elves coming and going in the central square outside. This was an audiovisual feast he had never experienced since he transmigrated!

"How much deep hatred was left behind by the War of the Beard back then! If this grudge is not avenged, I swear I am no Dwarf! If even a mere Xuri Zhi Ta is this exciting, what must the court of the Everqueen in Awalong be like? Attacking Aosuan must be put on the agenda!"

Sitting until nearly noon, Sinuoli grew more excited the more he thought about it; he finally understood why the old predecessors were all interested in these pointy-eared ones.

"Little Tyrion, as long as he doesn't draw Khaine Zhi Jian, he shouldn't be my match. When the time comes, I must take his wife and daughter..."

【Empty line】

"Isn't this King Sinuoli? Long time no see."

Just as the Dwarf King was thinking along the same lines as N'Kari, the self-proclaimed Slaanesh soul-seducer, a voice startled him. Sinuoli's muscles tensed instantly; he thrust his hand into his cloak and gripped the handle of his hammer before turning his head to look.

"Holy shit!"

It wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't looked, but one look and he nearly swung a Storm Hammer out right then and there. The person behind him was actually an old acquaintance—the High Archmage of the Tower of Hoeth, Teclis!

"Indeed, long time no see, honorable Lord Teclis." Having seen his fair share of storms and waves, Sinuoli quickly steadied his mind, making small talk while his brain raced.

"Hehe, you have quite the refined taste; the herbal tea sold in this shop is very famous throughout Aosuan."

Teclis tapped his staff lightly on the ground to erect a sound-dampening barrier. On his own turf, he was relatively relaxed and sat down opposite Sinuoli, pouring himself a cup of tea.
