Chapter 36: Boss Red-Axe

~7 min read 1,288 words

"Hahahaha!" Hearing of the embarrassment his big brother suffered on the battlefield, Sinuoli couldn't help but laugh out loud. He turned behind Grom and lifted his cloak, but was stopped by his big brother's hand pressing it down.

"Don't look! I didn't get shot in the back! Your big brother here always charges at the very front! It was the clansmen in the rear guard who suffered."

Almost all army charges put the elites in front and ordinary soldiers behind, so those left at the back were ordinary Dwarf Warriors; their standard Plate Armor had poorer resistance to friendly fire, and they suffered a higher proportion of injuries.

Sinuoli stopped laughing as he saw his big brother's malicious gaze; this also explained something he had originally found strange—quite a few of the injured clansmen were lying on their beds.

"In that battle, my men suffered heavy losses. Although there were no deaths, dozens needed to be bedridden. More importantly, morale took a significant hit, and I could only return to a stalemate with the Orcs on the mountain."

Grom took another drink of ale. "You know what happened later; the Miners reported finding traces of Skaven, so I rushed back to Karaz-a-Karak to recruit more men."

After hearing his big brother's history of starting his career, Sinuoli couldn't help but feel a bit emotional. Although Grom's tone carried a sense of nonchalance after achieving success, he knew the hardships hidden within.

"Let's go, stop standing here in the wind! Let's go back to the conference room and wait for news!" After descending from the watchtower, the brothers toured the outpost once more.

Sinuoli discovered that although the outpost was small, it was fully equipped with everything necessary.

Besides the essential buildings like the canteen, dormitories, and guard posts, there was a clearly demarcated Armory and granary, along with a smithy capable of simple weapon repairs and producing arrows and Firearm ammunition. Sinuoli also discovered a Forging Room for crude smelting of meteorite ore.

Watching Big Brother Grom methodically arrange windproof cloaks for the sentries, comfort the wounded, organize soldier training, and mediate minor disputes, Sinuoli realized he still had much to learn before becoming a qualified leader.

Real war is not something that can be won just by coming up with a clever plan and smashing a few heads on the front line.

Two days later, inside the central hall of the city of Karak-Varn on the mountain, several Greenskins gathered together.

Greenskin is a collective term for Orc tribes, Goblins, and Snotlings. They are the embodiment of wildness, short-tempered, and primitive in their lifestyle. Their only goal in life is war. If there are no external enemies, Greenskins will inflict violence upon their own kind.

Every so often, a powerful Greenskin Warlord will unite the Greenskin tribes and launch a large-scale external assault known as a Waaagh.

The term "Waaagh" comes from a simulation of the Greenskin battle cry. When it erupts, the frenzied Orcs, Goblins, and Snotlings destroy everything they encounter along their path. Leaving behind only pure Chaos.

Orcs are tall, burly, and extremely aggressive. They continue to grow throughout their lives, and their skin color gradually darkens with age. They are the main force of the Greenskin army.

Goblins are much smaller than Orcs, but they possess cruelty and cunning, which is exactly what their larger kin lack.

Goblins are skilled in technical engineering; the designs of the Greenskins are simple yet effective. Although their War Machine looks very crude and primitive, they are highly destructive when used.

Snotlings are the smallest members of Greenskin society; they are weak and stupid, and their role in war is negligible.

Orcs and Goblins each have two variants; we will introduce them after our protagonist encounters them.

The very center of the hall was originally the Dwarf Lord's throne, but now it has been converted into a Greenskin style. The seat is covered with a Wyvern hide and is stuck full of various totem poles, the chaotic arrangement revealing a sense of wildness.

Sitting on the chair is a tall Orc Warlord. He looks so fierce that even sitting down he exerts great pressure, though his left hand, suspended by bandages, ruins this aesthetic of power.

Because Greenskins worship violence, most warband leaders are strong and sturdy Orcs. Only a few Goblins can successfully rise to power through their own strength or political maneuvering, but every successful one is a ruthless enemy.

The previously mentioned Grom the Paunch is a Goblin. He ate a piece of Troll meat in an eating contest. Since Trolls have an extremely fast regeneration rate, logically he should have been stuffed to death.

However, Grom's body developed a miraculous adaptability; his digestive ability kept pace with the regeneration rate of the Troll meat. Although his belly was stretched very large, it ultimately did not explode. With the massive nutrition provided by this Troll meat, his physique grew continuously.

Relying on a physique comparable to an Orc, bizarre vehicle construction and driving skills, and some schemes and tricks, he eventually grew into a legendary Greenskin Warlord.

"Make a decision quickly! Boss Red-Axe! If we drag this out for a few more days, we won't be able to leave!" A Goblin sitting to the left of the Orc Warlord spoke up.

From the patterned cloak he wore and the staff in his hand, it could be seen that this was a Goblin Shaman.

Greenskins also have spellcasters; they can cast Waaagh Magic by praying to their own gods—Gork and Mork.

Both Orcs and Goblins have the potential to become spellcasters, but due to population base and intelligence factors, Goblin spellcasters are more common.

In Greenskin mythology, Gork represents the brutal side, and Mork represents the cunning side, but this is not absolute. Gork can be both brutal and cunning, and Mork can be both cunning and brutal.

"Yeah, Boss, a few days ago my Wolf Rider subordinates reported that the Dwarf-things down the mountain have increased! This time there are over a hundred iron cans! Those turtle shells on their bodies can only be broken by you and your big, strong Big 'Uns, or the charging Boar Boyz!"

The one speaking was another Goblin chieftain; he sat below the Shaman and had a lower status. "My subordinates, whether they use choppas or shootas, can't do anything to them!"

Boss Red-Axe smashed the stone armrest of his chair with his right hand and was about to speak when a tall Orc sitting to his right suddenly spoke up. "Boss, Da Orks think we need to make a tactical retreat!"

"What? Little brother, what did you tell me when we started the uprising back then? How long has it been, and why are you acting like a coward now?" The Boss let out a roar.

"Listen to me, Boss, there are more and more rats underground now. I took the lads and fought a few small battles with them. Although we smashed them, they polluted our mushroom fields, and now the food shortage is getting worse and worse! The lads aren't obedient enough and are causing trouble everywhere!"

Seeing the Boss's expression becoming increasingly unpleasant, the Orc Captain gritted his teeth and continued, "There are also a few big ones saying you aren't Waaagh enough, not tough enough, and don't deserve to be our Boss!"

With a "Bang!", Boss Red-Axe stood up from his chair.

He swung his axe in a circle with his right hand: "Gather the lads! I'm going to use a good scrap to tell them that I, Boss Red-Axe, am still the biggest and strongest Greenskin here!"

Got a better recommendation spot this week, continuing to ask for votes, collections, and tips.
