Chapter 368: Single-Rider Perilous Journey

~7 min read 1,302 words

"Sooner or later, I will sacrifice your entire family to the Lord of the Abyss, Maselan!"

Lokhir Fellheart stood atop his ancient black dragon, named Wave-Surfer, cursing viciously. As a greedy businessman, he loathed all high-risk, low-reward activities.

Facing a Ming Dragon was clearly one of them; just as the engagement began, she had risked a vicious bite to her lower abdomen from Wave-Surfer to land a strike with her dragon claw.

If not for the mysterious power contained within the Kelakenjuyai helmet, which continuously healed him after reducing the damage, he feared he would have already gone to meet the ancestors of the Fellheart family.

In contrast, the potential reward was almost non-existent. Lokhir's own father had died due to the betrayal of his first mate, and his mother's whereabouts were unknown. In Dark Elf society, this was basically the standard.

But Yin Yin not only had both parents alive but also a bunch of siblings who were just as capable. Not to mention whether he could win, if he really caused her any serious harm, the vast Jade Sea would naturally become the graveyard for the entire God-Blessed gang.

"Hahaha, little alien god, how could you have such capacity?" Yin Yin split her blood-stained maw; because of the recent battle, her originally elegant mane was soaked with the black dragon's dark green blood and matted together.

"Cathayan warriors, obey! Bury the thieves upon the Jade River!"

"Fine, let's kill! The Grudge against the Dark Elves shall be settled today!"

With the master having set the tone, Sinuoli naturally didn't need to overthink it. He raised his weapon and roared to the heavens, and the Dwarfs charged out from the warships. It was the people of Zhendan being sacrificed, but cutting down the 'black bean sprouts' was about settling their own Grudge.

"Boom—!"

Lokhir shouted a couple more times, but after realizing that Yin Yin was determined not to negotiate the prisoner issue, he stopped wasting his breath. The two black dragons dove rapidly, heading straight for the chains at the stern of the treasure ship.

The pirate captain had his own judgment of the situation; brawling with Yin Yin in the air now wouldn't help with the breakout, and destroying the chains as quickly as possible was the priority.

"Pfft! Pfft!"

Two mouthfuls of dark green dragon breath, emitting a nauseating odor, were sprayed out, clearing a space for the black dragons to land.

"Where are you going!"

Yin Yin certainly wouldn't stay idle; the opponent's decisiveness secretly startled her. The blue True Dragon followed in a dive, a breath attack brewing in her mouth.

"Whoosh!"

Just then, the phantom of Khaine moved. The two lower arms rubbed together in front of its chest, and a dark red fire bolt with extremely strong energy reaction appeared, flying toward Yin Yin at an even greater speed.

"Awoo!"

Even though she sensed something wrong and tried to dodge by twisting and turning in advance, the Ming Dragon was still grazed by this vicious fire bolt along her right flank. Although this Xueshoukai'en was a phantom summoned through sacrifice, its power level had broken through the boundaries of mortals.

"Hiss!"

Watching a row of dragon scales scraped off by the fire bolt, the flesh exposed by the wound instantly charred without even a drop of blood flowing, Sinuoli gasped.

"Altman! Prepare for takeoff!"

The Dwarf King realized that the key to this battle had become that phantom of Khaine. If Yin Yin were in her prime, she might be able to handle it, but now the two black dragons alone had her stretched too thin.

If the phantom were allowed to output freely, without powerful reinforcements intervening, either the defensive line would be crushed by the God of the Bloody Hand's repeated attacks, or all the prisoners would be sacrificed, resulting in a miserable victory with zero gain after all that effort.

"Just like last time, take the brothers with you!"

The members of the Slayer Brotherhood brandished their Rune Battle Axes and shouted; the Dwarfs had absolute enthusiasm for cutting down 'black bean sprouts'. Besides, what an honor it was to have the chance to confront the avatar of an enemy god!

"It's different; the Skaven didn't have units capable of flight, but the Dark Elves are different."

Sinuoli took a deep breath and climbed into the cabin. Hanging from a basket and swaying slowly was like feeding time for the Harpies flying in and out of the tower tops; these humanoid creatures couldn't intervene in the battle between dragons, but they wouldn't spare their claws and teeth against the defenseless Dwarfs in mid-air.

"Formation Three, cover my aircraft!"

Altman didn't waste words either. While they were talking, the phantom of Khaine had new movements. Its four arms pointed to the sky, guiding a blood-colored vortex that shrouded half the dragon fleet, splashing out fearsome magic.

"Bzzzz!"

Three helicopters took off rapidly from the Dreadnought, heading toward the largest Black Ark opposite. The Dark Elves immediately spotted them, and a large number of Crossbow bolts struck the hull, sounding like "large and small pearls falling onto a jade plate."

The arrows could only be said to serve as a distraction. Seeing that this was ineffective, a group of Harpies, under the command of a sorceress riding a Manticore, soared up from the spires of the various Black Arks.

"Rat-tat-tat!"

The Sulfur Guns mounted on the three helicopters rang out, forming a crossfire that cleared the flight path to the altar. When Sinuoli spotted the opportunity, he leaned half his body out of the cabin and used a Storm Hammer to knock the sorceress off her mount, declaring the aerial interception a failure.

The biggest threat to the aircraft, the black dragons, encountered trouble within the fleet. In addition to professional soldiers, many adventurers from the Old World who had come with the ships rushed out of the cabins and joined the encirclement against them.

These people had little interest in the war between the two armies, but when the black dragons landed, the huge rewards that could be brought by dragon-slaying tempted them. Many among them were skilled fighters and carried magical weapons capable of piercing dragon scales, so for a time, Lokhir found it difficult to let go and destroy the chains.

"Not good!"

The Death Hag presiding over the ritual, alerted by her subordinates, noticed the three approaching helicopters and immediately judged that they were coming for her and the altar beneath her feet.

"Praise Khaine! She shall drown them in the blood of the enemy!"

Following the Priest's chanting, the four arms raised by the phantom of Khaine pressed down fiercely, and the blood-colored vortex in the sky began to project beams of filthy blood light toward the helicopter squad.

"Grimnir as my witness! I have noted this Grudge!"

The pilots maneuvered the aircraft, dodging the falling blood light. But after a few waves, the one on the left rear was hit by a beam of light, and half of its propeller was instantly dissolved. The helicopter began to twist and turn as it plummeted, finally sinking into the river.

"Your Majesty, look over there!"

Altman pointed, and Sinuoli followed his gaze to the altar located in the atrium.

"Good! You can go back with peace of mind; intercept those two black dragons within your capabilities! We'll meet after we win!" Looking at his worried subordinate, Sinuoli leaned against the cabin door and grinned.

Only he knew why he, as a Dwarf King, had to take such a big risk for the Cathayans. With the ability to make a difference, he could not allow himself to sit by and watch people whose speech and behavior were similar to his past life be slaughtered and sacrificed by an alien race.
