Chapter 414: North to Slayer Keep

~7 min read 1,337 words

Buluokesen's journey home ended at Jiliuguan, but Sinuoli still had to set off. Thorgrim had long since begun planning a railway between Karaz-a-Karak and the surrounding fortresses, though at the heart of the conservative Dwarf forces, even the High King needed to do a great deal of mobilization work.

"Everything went smoothly, and you got what you wanted?"

This was not a formal audience; Sinuoli sat opposite Thorgrim in his office. The co-ruler of the Mountain Kingdom possessed a vigorous energy that belied his age, and he looked at his youngest son with a very hearty smile.

"Hahaha, it is all thanks to the protection of the Ancestor Gods!"

"If those Colossus statues passed down from ancient times can be repaired, we will no longer have to rely solely on fortresses and Artillery for passive defense against giant Warcraft." Adjusting his Dragon Crown, he affirmed Sinuoli's contribution.

"Then, after leaving the earth behind and experiencing a voyage of several months across the vast ocean, has my dear King of the Southlands taken the time to think about his own lifelong commitment?"

After some small talk, Thorgrim finally brought up this topic; this was the most important opportunity to find allies, and a proper choice could bring about a rapid expansion of power.

"Snap! Whoosh!"

"Clatter!"

Sinuoli laughed and snapped his fingers lightly. A breeze suddenly swirled in the conference room deep within the mountain, and the pages of the Great Book of Grudges in front of Thorgrim, soaked in the blood of past High Kings, began to flip.

Thorgrim rose to his feet, pressed his hand against the shoulder of the Rune-clad Sinuoli, and rubbed his cheek. It was precisely because they possessed Demigods that the Dwarfs understood how much destructive power those who wielded Authority possessed.

"Are you planning to release the news immediately? If so, I will help you clarify things with those few families. What are your plans for the next step? If you need anything, just ask!"

The pilot's shout pulled Sinuoli back from his thoughts. Even while sitting in the Helicopter, they had to look up—the mountain behind the core of the Karak-Snuori fortress had been carved from the mountainside into the roaring face of Grimnir, and the original peak had been shaved into a towering crest.

"Hahaha! Respected Ancestor Chosen, ever since the god Grimnir first responded to your call at Weifengbao after the Ancestor Era, I have been hoping that you would come here so that my people could be bathed in divine grace, and today, that wish has finally been fulfilled! Please!"

The gods revered by the people of Jisiwaifu Cheng were very complex. Located in the far north of the civilized world, they lived in good conditions, were in constant conflict with the forces of Chaos, and were in urgent need of gods to soothe and inspire them; it had to be said that it was a good place to harvest faith.

Sinuoli returned the courtesy politely. He had already met this person, the strongest on the surface among the Dwarf Realms, at the Great Grudge Assembly; it was not just martial prowess that allowed Agam to make his fortress increasingly prosperous. "In the name of Thurni, this shouldn't be a new type of Rune you've developed, right?"

"Of course, Rune magic is like the nature of the Sons of the Mountains; its core is stability, not transformation."

"Dear passengers, we are about to land! Please look to your right; experiencing this at Slayer Keep costs ten gold coins!"

Thorgrim stood there with his mouth wide open, stunned. Under the influence of Kezhinzheng, turning stones into gold could be said to be an eternal hot topic in Dwarf society. The obsession with it was somewhat like the enthusiasm for "fringe science" research into perpetual motion machines in Sinuoli's past life; clansmen with "unique insights" into alchemy spanned all walks of life, regardless of age or background.

"I have only just crossed the threshold; there is still a long way to go."

Looking through the glass at the winding snow-capped peaks, Sinuoli was lost in thought. This was his first time heading north since he transmigrated. During the long journey before, whenever he felt complacent about the phased successes he had achieved, he would warn himself that the true enemy was still brewing power in the north.

More than three thousand years ago, it was said that Agam's ancestor, King Baragol, felt deep shame and anger because his daughter was murdered on the way to the Everpeak to marry the Prince, and he swore the Slayer Oath that had been passed down by his successors to this day.

While muttering to himself, he scanned his father's desk, and soon Sinuoli found an ordinary-looking pen holder. Even though the Dwarf Realms were no longer in their prime, most of the High King's office supplies were still engraved with Runes, which had considerable resistance to changes in physical properties.

With another snap of his fingers, the pen holder, originally carved from stone, burst into golden light, reflecting the faces of father and son in the lamplight.

"Jisiwaifu Cheng? That's quite close to Karak-Snuori, so I can just take care of everything at once!"

Because a king could not easily die, after weighing his options, he ordered the construction of the largest Grimnir Shenkan in all the mountains and provided support for all warriors seeking an epic death to wash away the insults they had suffered.

"Sigh, better change to something simple and easy to understand."

After learning his master's location, Sinuoli did not linger; after a short rest, he took his guard to the airport at the Everpeak. The flight crew, having received the order, had already made preparations for takeoff.

If a powerhouse like the Slayer King or Kazador-Dragon Slayer were here, they would naturally understand what this breeze meant. Thorgrim's strength was still insufficient; he was quite a distance from the peak of mortals, otherwise, he would not have been assassinated by the Master of Death Snikch while the Metal of Winds was upon him during the End Times.

"Good lad, no wonder you've been dodging the issue! I truly underestimated you after all!" Fortunately, having already had psychological expectations that Sinuoli had a great chance of breaking through to Demigod, Thorgrim did not take too long to accept it.

"Hearing a hundred times is not as good as seeing once; this Slayer Shenkan is truly, truly shocking!"

"This, what is this?"

"Hard to say, I only have a rough idea in my head right now. I plan to go find my master first; I don't know how much he has gained in the year or so since he went up the mountain."

The High King sniffed, seemingly trying to find where the breeze was coming from. The smile on Sinuoli's face looked a bit awkward; his little display of skill was a bit like casting pearls before swine when used on his father.

"By the Clan Ancestors, how old are you! Master Kelage only glimpsed the secrets of transcendent power at the age of three hundred and seventy."

"Snap!"

"Strange, where did that wind come from?"

Agam-Ironfist and the high-ranking officials of Karak-Snuori had long been waiting in front of the tarmac, and as soon as Sinuoli stepped out of the cabin, he greeted him warmly.

Bidding farewell to his father, Sinuoli tapped his communication Rune to contact Master Kelage. In order to avoid being disturbed too much while spreading his faith, the Rune Demigod had restricted the channels through which he could be contacted.

Since the Elves and their Dragons withdrew from the Old World, Karaz-a-Karak had for a long time been the only fortress outside of Jiliuguan to have large-scale deployments of aircraft, and the experience passed down made the pilots there famous throughout the mountains.

"The fact that our brethren in the North World Edge Mountains can live and work in peace and contentment is inseparable from your hard work and that of everyone else."
