Chapter 427: The Shattering of All Laws
Watching the palace walls of the Winter Palace tremble beneath the Dwarfs who had suddenly turned into stone statues, the Kislev warriors in the bitter fight thought they saw the dawn of victory. But the Grave Guard appearing behind the walls were already thorny for Sinuoli, and brought despair to mortals.
Tsaritsa Katarin took in the fear of the rebel army, and the ambitious member of the Lamia family revealed a cruel smile. She had left the Silver Pinnacle and run to this bitter, cold land to set up her own house for exactly this feeling.
"Creak, creak!"
Driven by the Vampires, the Grave Guard moved forward, shifting limbs stiff from long slumber. The Humans could clearly see the equipment on them, which featured styles from vastly different eras; though long rusted, they remained lethal.
"Ursun protect us!"
"Great Saliheya, God of Healing and Comfort, I beg you to protect me so I may return to my homeland."
"To, no, Sigmar be praised!"
When facing power that human strength could not resist, praying for the help of the gods was the only remaining choice. The Sambo contestants from all over Kislev called out the names of various gods, but they remained deaf to their pleas.
Without altars or offerings, without priests or bishops, could the gods hear their calls? If they heard, would they respond? Even if they responded, how much power would it take to save them?
The distance of several dozen meters was both fleeting and long; the warriors of Kislev, the land known as the Shield of Order, displayed their true nature. No one cowered or fled in panic; they shared the strong spirits they carried and decided to face the Undead army head-on.
"Beast! Don't run!"
"Boring, and it can even fly; does the world really belong to Niu Jueye?"
When Kelage fully exerted his Demigod Authority, apart from weakening himself into an "Arcane Conductor," all peak mortal spellcasters who stored the Winds of Magic would be stripped of their source of power.
"Whoosh!"
"As he wishes."
"What are you still dazed for? Purify these filthy blood-kin!"
"Creak!"
Abandoning the scattered Crypt Ghouls, just as Katarin arrived at the viewing platform beneath the palace wall, a series of strange noises came from mid-air. A Zombie Dragon and a Terrorgheist were seen flapping unsteadily, with the surviving Vampires standing on their backs.
The Humans drew their bows and arrows, but with little effect. A strange smile appeared at the corner of Katarin's mouth; she lifted her left hand, weighed her Warhammer, and spun it twice, her gaze shifting playfully between the dragon and the beast.
Kislev Craft stood in opposition to the Winds of Magic from its inception. Masters could rely on the Doom Anvil to bind a portion of the Winds of Magic, increasing the difficulty for enemies to cast spells.
"Whoosh!"
Horror and despair appeared on the faces of Kagafei and Snorride. The tiny one-handed hammer felt like a death warrant; it had already taken all their strength to make the two Undead behemoths fly, and accelerating or dodging was undoubtedly asking the impossible.
"Hey, Vladimir, who do you want this King to hit?"
The Ancestor Chosen took the lead and shouted, and the Dwarfs who came along had already reached a tacit understanding and shouted loudly as well. After a brief silence, many Rune Wives, shocked by this extraordinary power, joined in.
This thing looked like a large Crypt Ghoul, or rather, a Crypt Ghoul looked like a small version of it. The fact was indeed so; this type of heavy assault infantry was born from Vampires opening their own veins to let Ghouls consume their precious blood, causing them to mutate.
Kagafei shrieked, but the Von Carstein head drove the Terrorgheist to fly south without looking back, while Huang Rongwei stood with his hands behind his back, watching the crippled dragon glide and fall by its own momentum.
"That, that bloody and cruel female demon!"
As a Kislev Master, Katarin knew what the master had done; he had dispersed the Winds of Magic for several miles around, severing the medium for controlling the Undead, and the sudden spell backlash was precisely why the Vampire died suddenly.
"Hiss!"
The roar resounded across the battlefield under the amplification of power, followed by a muffled, thunderous boom. The light erupting from the Doom Anvil that Kelage had brought down from the Everpeak made the sun lose its luster, and the world seemed to go quiet for an instant.
"When it comes to frontal combat capability, Kislev Authority is still far stronger than Equipment Authority."
Roaring at the Boyar, Katarin began to brew the Storm Hammer; the skill itself and the Authority had nothing to do with the Winds of Magic, retaining one hundred percent of their power.
"Praise the great Kelage, God of Craft and Armament!"
"Snorride, save me!"
He could have completely activated the Kislev to recall the Warhammer and hit the Terrorgheist as well, but compared to rooting out the trouble, eating two birds with one stone seemed more attractive. On the palace wall, a heavy sound broke the dead silence; the Vampire Nikulachi's massive bald head exploded, white brain matter splattered everywhere, and the headless corpse stood there, as if it still did not know what had happened.
Katarin took a deep breath and turned to look in Kelage's direction; the master had only been testing his skills before, and now he should do something.
Sir Snorride lifted his left hand to his chest, repeatedly clenching and opening it; he realized with horror that the Winds of Magic, which had been as responsive as his own arm, had vanished! This was supposed to be an innate ability of high-level Vampires!
"Pfft!"
The Grave Guard army, lacking a commander, froze in place. The high-level Vampires on the palace wall could not care about anything else; they scrambled and crawled toward the interior of the palace, as no ghost dared to face things that defied common sense.
Ignoring the out-of-control Grave Guard, Huang Rongwei stepped over the breach to find the stairs to climb the palace wall. The few Vampires dared not wait there to die, and either flew or ran, fleeing in all directions.
The shrewd fellow suddenly felt that this King of the Southlands had ill intentions, but he had no time to weigh or ponder further.
"Filthy things, dare you face the warriors of Kislev?"
Compared to the more slippery fellows, Huang Rongwei first blocked the Strigoi Vampire, which had a massive body and could not fly, along with its guards. It crawled on all fours, roaring while looking for an escape route, but things would not go as it wished.
A stomp, a smash, a slash; the elite Vampire was no longer a match for Huang Rongwei—its claws and fangs could not even break the defense of the legendary armor, let alone the stone statue body.
"In my name, all laws shall be shattered!"
Huang Rongwei stared at the two flying behemoths and pondered to himself. It was one thing for the beasts to fly while alive. After becoming Undead, their tattered wing membranes were leaking air everywhere like fishing nets, and the Winds of Magic in this battlefield had been dispersed by Master Kelage, so it was somewhat unexpected that they could still flap.
The Warhammer, carrying a terrifying sonic boom and dragging a white trail, headed straight for the Zombie Dragon. The skeleton, lacking magical protection, was fragile; the Warhammer swept from the rear to the base of the right wing, directly knocking off half of the dragon's body.
"That, that, that.
"
"Gutless thing, you really bring shame to your blood ancestor! You didn't do well as a human, and after becoming a ghost, you still want to be a beast among ghosts."
