Chapter 47: Revival Points
Looking at these powerful ritual effects, Snuori was extremely excited! He immediately began to check the requirements needed for the rituals.
Carrying out a ritual does not require the three sacrificial animals like oxen, sheep, or pigs, nor does it require rice or ale, but rather a type of point currency named by the system as Revival Points.
These points can be obtained through various actions beneficial to the Dwarf race; settling a Grudge, recovering a Shanbao, increasing the satisfaction of the clansmen, enhancing the influence and unity of the race, spreading the faith of the Ancestor Gods, clearing away Chaos corruption, and so on, can all provide varying amounts of points.
In a word, the dream of the great revival of the race, where the material wealth of the clansmen is greatly enriched and their spiritual wealth is also greatly enriched, can all be encouraged with Revival Points.
However, Snuori also discovered that the ultimate rituals of the three main gods have additional requirements besides needing a large amount of Revival Points.
The Valaya Ritual requires the recovery of Karak Eight Peaks, where Valaya's original temple is located; the ritual for Grimnir requires a confederation with Karak-Kadrin to control the largest Tufushenkan in the entire Mountain Kingdom; to perform the ritual for the Father God Grungni, one must be crowned High King.
"How many Revival Points do I have now?" Snuori thought while operating the system. He saw that the points generated by his actions during the system upgrade had also been tallied.
There were points from the clan's widespread promotion of his becoming the Chosen of the Goddess, which led more Dwarfs to regain their faith in the Ancestor Gods;
There were points from the improvement in public order and clansmen satisfaction due to the free ale carnival and banquet after he became a Rune Master;
And there were points from his recent participation in commanding troops to successively defeat the Greenskins and Skaven, recover Karak-Varn, and then pursue the Skaven, personally slaying their leader.
Since many of these positive impacts were indirect or achieved in cooperation with his elder brother, Snuori received a total of just over five hundred Revival Points.
Although this amount of points was not much, it was enough to perform an intermediate ritual. Snuori was very satisfied with this; it was just the beginning, wasn't it?
Suddenly, Snuori noticed the last digit jump up by one, which made him even more delighted. After reading the transaction details, he discovered this was an increase that came from the indirect promotion of the Ancestor Goddess's faith as his deeds spread. Seeing this, Snuori realized that grabbing both war and being a "god-stick" might be a good choice.
The return journey seemed much shorter. Not long after studying the system, Snuori saw the exit of the Earth Vein Network. The sky he saw again had changed from the sun to the moon hanging in the air.
Two Dwarf Warriors stood at the tunnel entrance, leaning against the stone, supporting their Battle Axes, and nodding off to sleep. Hearing the footsteps of the troop, they shook their heads and opened their eyes.
Seeing his clansmen guarding the entrance, holding axes and looking nervous, Snuori felt relieved. He had just been worried about what would happen if the Greenskins' big choppas were waiting for him at the tunnel entrance.
"Master Snuori, you've returned! Those rats..." the Dwarf Warrior began.
Halfway through his sentence, he saw the Dimension Stone Halberd Snuori was carrying in his left hand. The fate of the Skaven was self-evident, and the second half of his sentence was swallowed back.
"The Ancestor Goddess protects you!" he exclaimed with heartfelt admiration. "Prince Grom is waiting for you at the outpost!" Under the guidance of his clansmen, Snuori led his subordinates back to the outpost.
After arranging for his subordinates to rest, Snuori took Qiangsen to the conference room.
Entering the door, Snuori found several high-ranking Dwarfs yawning and drinking ale while waiting for him. "Why are we still staying here? Hasn't Mountain Lake Fortress already been recovered?" Snuori asked his question.
Before Gold Seeker could answer, Grom slapped the table and shouted: "Snuori, I've already heard! You personally smashed the head of that rat leader! You really are the pride of our Clan!"
The Dwarfs in the room also cheered: "Cheers to the courage of the Chosen of the Goddess!" Snuori also took the ale cup and drank it in one gulp.
"Erosion, it's still erosion!" Gold Seeker shouted, his nose red, clearly having drunk quite a bit of ale.
"Those damn Greenskins desecrated the city of the ancestors! If we don't clean up the scraps and garbage they left behind, the fortress is simply uninhabitable!" the old Dwarf continued.
"I just took people to check, and the underground part of the fortress has also been polluted by the rats with Magic Stone Powder!" a middle-aged Dwarf standing behind Gold Seeker said through gritted teeth; judging by his attire, he was also a Miner foreman.
"Cleaning up these things will require your help!" Grom muttered. It was clear he was already very tired and had been stubbornly insisting on waiting for Snuori to return.
Snuori nodded. He knew that the so-called help relied on him engraving the Hearth and Home Rune to dispel the erosion. This rune was the first rune created by the Ancestor Goddess, and it was also one that every Rune Smith needed to learn during their apprenticeship.
Striking it on the battlefield could evoke the Dwarfs' pride in their family, ancestors, and fortress, making the clansmen fearless. But this was not the primary function of this rune.
It was used more for dealing with erosion and protecting fortresses. Legend has it that there is a Hearth and Home Rune engraved by the Ancestor Goddess herself on the gate of Karak Eight Peaks.
Snuori nodded and agreed; this was the original intention of his elder brother Grom asking him to come.
Suddenly, he thought of his Rite System. Looking at the number five hundred displayed behind the Intermediate Valaya Ritual, he had a flash of inspiration.
Although he was a bit reluctant, as the Revival Points he had just obtained hadn't even warmed up yet and were about to be spent, Snuori thought that if he made good use of this opportunity to hype it up, he might be able to get far more Revival Points than the five hundred spent.
"But I can't be too hasty; I need to come up with a set of rituals and have a sense of ceremony!" Having made up his mind, Snuori spoke unhurriedly.
"No problem, this is exactly my duty! I'll start work tomorrow morning." Hearing this, the Dwarfs present nodded one after another.
"Everyone disperse! Tomorrow we still have to continue sweeping up the garbage left by the Greenskins!" Grom let out a huge yawn and prepared to get up.
"By the way, we haven't sent anyone back to report the victory yet, right?" Snuori decided to confirm this to avoid his precious Revival Points not bringing in satisfactory returns.
"That's for sure! Aren't we all waiting for you to come back? Who can sleep soundly until that group of rats is dealt with!" Grom said strangely.
"Hahaha, alright, goodnight everyone!" Snuori smiled to cover it up and took the lead in standing up.
From lining up in the morning to the pursuit and return at night, he had been operating at an overload. If it weren't for the toughness in the bones of a Dwarf, he would have collapsed long ago.
"Wake me up early tomorrow, seven o'clock, no, six o'clock!" Fearing he would miss the messenger's departure, Snuori instructed Balin before going to sleep.
