Chapter 519: Captives and Fierce Battles
"Tell me, aren't you going to pull a stunt like a hunger strike or suicide? Give me a little sense of accomplishment, won't you?"
The prisoner had clearly received preferential treatment; she looked full of energy and spirit, head held high, chest thrust out, displaying her proud figure. Her overly confident attitude made Sinuoli feel a bit uneasy, and he couldn't help but speak up to dampen her spirit.
"Heh, I know my own value, especially after discovering that your subordinates are nothing but trash."
"Why are you looking at me? Do you think I'm trash?"
"Don't misunderstand. I'm not targeting you; I'm saying everyone present here is trash."
"Bastard, you're looking for death!"
"How dare you spout such wild words in front of the God!"
Following the female assassin's highly provocative statement, the conference room instantly boiled over. Who could endure being insulted by a former mortal enemy and current prisoner right in front of their boss?
"Sigh, settle down, all of you! If I hadn't intervened, she really could have taken care of all of you."
The Dwarf Demigod looked around at his indignant subordinates and couldn't help but sigh. Assassin was a standard template for a high priest—her own strength was at the peak of the mortal realm, and under the blessing of a god, she could reach the absolute peak and even unleash a few Divine Arts.
Perhaps the influence and positioning of Ranald were insufficient to command the most outstanding figures among Humans, but the benefits brought by the longer lifespan of a Half-Elf were enough to compensate for any slight deficiencies in talent.
"Your own cultivation must not fall behind while you are preaching. The more divine power you carry, the greater the burden on you. Don't let me accidentally cause a backlash that kills one of you."
After the exhortation, he waved his hand to dismiss everyone. Assassin was so sensible that she would have a chance to compete for the position of the strongest foreign general under his command. This was a turbulent world; only civil officials would find their talents unrecognized.
"What is His current state?"
"Hmm? As you can see, I am before you now. Ranald, I'm afraid, won't be coming back easily."
"Sounds like you are an honest person, just as the rumors say, though not exactly upright."
Having exchanged key information, the atmosphere relaxed instantly. Often, as long as initial mutual trust is established, a topic can continue to be pushed forward.
"Assassin shouldn't be your real name, right? How should I address you? You can reintroduce yourself."
"My name, Xiwa. Surname, none."
Confusion and sorrow flowed in the Half-Elf's eyes; clearly, these things buried deep in her mind were not pleasant memories. Under the soothing influence of Sinuoli's Divine Art, her childhood experiences were sketched out.
It was a Black Ark raid over a hundred years ago; pirates destroyed a coastal town. The daughter of a noble family, because of her beauty, was taken as a private slave by the fleet commander and dragged along toward the next stop.
After battle after battle along the coastline, the pirates were finally defeated by the gathered armies of various city-states. The woman escaped during the chaos, but with her clan destroyed, her family gone, and her reputation ruined, she had no choice but to drift into the red-light districts.
Soon, she painfully discovered she was pregnant, but after calculating the time, the brothel did not kick her out. The madam's judgment proved correct; the newborn was indeed a half-breed girl and was immediately treated as a rare commodity.
The woman died shortly after from mental trauma and work stress. The child left behind received meticulous training in relevant work skills, but the Dark Elf bloodline, besides pointed ears and skin color, also gave her an affinity for shadows and darkness.
Her talent was discovered by an assassin and intelligence organization operating nearby. They abducted her, gave her brief training, and sent her back to headquarters. The Nightstalker happened to be worried that their spokespersons were always short-lived; the Half-Elf's lifespan was much longer than a mortal's, so she immediately gained His attention. After several trials, she became Assassin.
"How did Ranald get mixed up with assassins?"
"Black Blade originally served the Shadow Dancer Luoweiyike as its guardian, but whether His divine power had waned or He simply didn't value this small group of unpious believers, after several twists and turns, it was merged under Ranald's command."
The story behind the short words could fill several more books if laid out. Sinuoli's own starting point was relatively high, and he had no resonance with the petty infighting over tax money for a few carriages or a small group of wandering Goblins.
A High Prince plus a disciple of a Rune Demigod—under normal development, it was a configuration for sitting in command of a city or leading an army alone. The previous master simply lost his first battle on the battlefield and was so infatuated with heroic stories that he easily gave himself away.
"Work for me?"
"I have no choice. Every living creature in the Old World praises your generosity; I imagine you won't treat me unfairly."
The Half-Elf raised her hands, which were wearing Rune Shackles, squeezed out a smile, and knelt on one knee before Sinuoli. The Dwarf knew that such smoothness was due to the blessing of reputation; intelligent beings all wanted to follow a wise master who had a promising future and whose name could earn them respect from others.
"Very good, Xiwa. I haven't decided how to use you yet; you can also propose your own plan. But before that, I need to clear away the residual divine power of Ranald on you; after all, you were once His chosen."
Sinuoli beckoned for the Half-Elf to come closer. She was able to examine him in the state of Ranald by relying on the lingering connection between the two. No matter how much one trusts their subordinates, such a "backdoor" had to be blocked.
"Mm."
Under her enveloping black cloak, Xiwa wore a two-piece tight leather armor. Due to the interference of height, Sinuoli's large hand naturally fell onto her exposed waist.
The well-trained body was firm and full of strength; her amber skin provided a silk-like touch, not to mention the "V-lines" and abdominal muscles that appeared and disappeared with her breathing!
"Gulp..."
Both of them swallowed a mouthful of saliva at the same time. Nearly a hundred years of infiltration made the brand inside Xiwa quite stubborn. Sinuoli had to place his left hand on her as well, and her slender waist was almost completely enclosed.
"Ugh!"
Using one's own body as a battlefield for alien divine power was excruciating, but seeing Sinuoli's brows locking tighter and tighter, the Half-Elf's tightly pursed red lips moved, and she made up her mind—she suddenly lowered her head and bit down on the Dwarf's mouth!
"What are you...?"
Sinuoli's words were blocked back by her silk-like, charming eyes. After a fierce response, he hoisted the Half-Elf up and threw her onto the bed, leaving only the cabin door behind them welded into a golden color.
His luck was good this time; a former chosen one could no longer be a member of the Cult of Pleasure. The technique from his past life's study materials—"even Slaanesh would have to praise it as 'exhilarating' to her face"—was partially put into practice. It was also thanks to a body near the peak of mortals that she could withstand his onslaught.
"Did you hear any sound?"
"Mm, it seems quite intense. I heard the God is very skilled at handling people!"
"That's for sure! What kind of methods does Ande of the Western Depot have! Hiss~ it was all taught by Him personally."
The Humans outside stood until their legs were numb, but the fierce battle inside the cabin was quite different from what they imagined.
"Is this... blood? Your nails aren't even long; how could you gouge so much out of my back?"
"What? The training I received was limited to the theoretical part."
