Chapter 56: Manifesting Miracles Once More

~7 min read 1,329 words

Walking into his room, Sinuoli finally had time to examine the gains he had obtained from manifesting the miracle.

Looking at the Revival Points, which had broken into three digits and reached over a thousand, Sinuoli lay on the bed, grinning from ear to ear.

Witnessing the miracle with their own eyes had caused almost all the Dwarfs present to regain their faith in the Ancestor Gods, greatly boosting public order and the satisfaction of his kin.

Sinuoli believed that as the observers returned to their own settlements and spread what they had seen and heard at wine tables and gatherings, his Revival Points would continue to grow!

Jiliuguan was a large Dwarf stronghold with an extremely developed economy; it had a large population, and due to its advanced technology, the residents here generally lacked respect for the Ancestor Gods.

If he could make them regain their faith, the harvest would surely be bountiful. Thinking of this, Sinuoli suddenly had the idea of manifesting a miracle through the system once more, though he understood he needed a suitable opportunity.

Closing his eyes to sleep for a while, Sinuoli was startled awake by a knocking sound outside his door. He quickly tidied himself up and walked out of the room.

Led by two Hammer Guards, he headed all the way down toward the great hall of Jiliuguan.

As Sinuoli stepped into the hall, the Dwarfs let out waves of cheers. A simple glance was enough for Sinuoli to recognize that a significant proportion of them were high-ranking individuals who had witnessed the miracle at Mountain Lake Fortress.

Carrying the lingering resonance of the Goddess's miracle and being the first Rune Master to visit Jiliuguan in nearly a thousand years, Sinuoli received a high-spec welcome.

Almost all the prominent Dwarfs in the entire Zhufuba had come, which formed a sharp contrast to the banquet held in the Hongda Wangzuo Jian when he became a Rune Master, where there had been about one-fifth of the seats empty.

Sinuoli was arranged to sit on the left hand of King Thorgin. Beside him was Master Aberuike-Yinzhi, and the two Dwarfs sitting opposite them could be identified as local Engineering Masters by the complex monocles they wore on their heads and the smell of machine oil on their bodies.

Sinuoli searched his memory briefly; it seemed neither of these two Dwarfs had accompanied the team to Mountain Lake Fortress.

As the chime clock struck seven, King Thorgin stood up. He first expressed his welcome for Sinuoli's visit and then praised the divine grace of the Mother Goddess.

Suddenly, Sinuoli noticed the middle-aged Engineering Master sitting opposite him curl his lips, appearing somewhat disdainful.

"This is Buluoke-Damingsen, the head of the Engineers' Guild. He..." Master Yinzhi also noticed this and quietly reminded Sinuoli; it was clear his expression was not good.

"Your Majesty! If you summoned us here just to announce these things, then forgive me for taking my leave!" Before Master Yinzhi could finish speaking, Buluoke stood up and interrupted King Thorgin's long-winded speech.

"My research on rockets is at a critical moment! There is no extra time to waste here." As he stood up, Sinuoli noticed that this Engineering Master had lost his left arm, and now his left hand was a prosthetic limb gleaming with the luster of meteorite iron.

King Thorgin's expression turned very ugly; the Dwarf King, who already had a somewhat explosive temper, had cheeks that were twitching.

This was partly because his speech had been interrupted, and partly because he had lost face in front of the respected Chosen of the Goddess and Prince of Everpeak.

"It seems the contradictory relationship between clans and guilds is not unique to Everpeak!" Sinuoli thought to himself, feeling that his opportunity was coming.

"Science is the only truth! If the Ancestor Gods were really useful, why would we need Flame Cannons?" Buluoke was not finished and continued to spout wild words.

At this, the other Dwarfs in the hall were not having it, especially the kin who had gone to Mountain Lake Fortress and witnessed the divine grace; they shouted loudly.

"Buluoke, if you disrespect the Ancestor Gods like this, you will suffer divine punishment!"

"Mogelimu above! You lost a hand in the last accident; by the next one, I fear it will be your head!"

"Having lost the protection of the Mother Goddess, he can just wait for his soul to fall into the hands of Slaanesh!"

Listening to the reproaches and even curses from his kin in the hall, Buluoke's expression did not change in the slightest. In his career, he had faced such scenes more than once or twice, but it was precisely this persistence in his own path that had made him the head of the Engineers' Guild today.

The engineers in the hall also began to speak up; they were not to be outdone and shouted in support of their guild head.

Seeing that the dispute in the hall had a tendency to intensify, Sinuoli stood up slowly.

The Dwarfs who were not from the Engineers' Guild quieted down upon seeing this; they all wanted to see how Sinuoli, this Chosen of the Goddess, would rebuke the arrogant Buluoke-Damingsen.

Sinuoli adjusted his state, letting himself enter a blank-faced charlatan mode. "Although not everyone knows how to be grateful, the merciful Mother Goddess loves every one of Her children!"

While speaking unhurriedly, Sinuoli called up the system in his mind. He knew that one of the contents of the Valaya Ritual was to grant friendly units the effect of being full of energy.

Sinuoli was slightly conflicted between consuming five hundred Revival Points to grant a permanent effect and consuming one hundred Revival Points to grant a temporary effect.

If you don't risk the bait, you won't catch the fish; what if the effect wore off after a while and caused the faith that had been built with such difficulty to collapse?

After thinking it through, Sinuoli chose to permanently apply the full-of-energy effect, and the target was set to Buluoke, who was spouting nonsense opposite him.

Suddenly, the Dwarfs present discovered that Buluoke's mouth had closed, and his body had suddenly begun to tremble.

Before the kin could react, a green light burst forth from his body!

The hall instantly fell into an unprecedented silence; everyone was guessing what had happened to Buluoke.

After a long while, Buluoke-Damingsen spoke tremblingly: "The Ancestor Goddess above!" He said this while shaking his head and moving his hands and feet.

"I feel my whole body is full of strength! As if, as if I have returned to when I had just reached adulthood!"

Buluoke stared blankly and slumped into his chair; his lips moved for a long time, but he still could not organize fluent language and could only mumble incoherently.

The firm belief he had held for over two hundred years of life had been destroyed by a miracle that acted directly upon him!

Watching this scene, the Dwarfs in the hall let out crazy cheers that almost collapsed the entire hall. The last time at Mountain Lake Fortress, they had only watched from afar at the foot of the mountain and could not see clearly. The impact of the divine grace descending right beside them this time was undoubtedly stronger.

Watching the fanaticism of his kin, Sinuoli suddenly gained an epiphany regarding the high cost of this ritual.

The core of the divine power of the gods is "doing what is impossible for men"; clearing Chaos corruption can be accomplished by any Dwarf who has mastered Rune Power, and the miracle only accelerated this process, so although the scope was large, the consumption was small.

Thanks to Yi Hu for the monthly ticket reward, and to Mo'erben Qishi and the 3 people for the small monthly tickets.

I have just set up a book club; if there are any book friends who want to discuss, you can join.
