Chapter 72: Selling Munitions
"Munitions?" Aunt Sonia did not understand the meaning of this word.
"Well, it's just a collective term for military-grade firearms and ammunition," Sinuoli explained. "Things like Thunder Guns, Iron-drake Handguns, and Cannons."
"Hmm, that's not impossible, but our kin over there are quite conservative; whether they will buy them is a question," Sonia continued.
"If our kin don't want them, I can still sell them to Humans, or if all else fails, I can bring them back to use myself. I'm planning to organize an expedition anyway," Sinuoli had thought this point through quite thoroughly.
"You need connections to buy this stuff. Thanks to your Master, even what we produce here at Everpeak is barely enough for ourselves; quite a lot is even purchased from Jiliuguan!" Sonia threw out another difficult problem.
"That's easy to solve. The son of Buluoke, the head of the Jiliuguan Engineer Guild, is under my command!" Sinuoli laughed; he hadn't expected the discount he just obtained to be useful so soon.
"That is indeed good. Your cousin is going to Jiliuguan for a trip soon; you can make a list, and he can just bring them back for you on his way!" Aunt Sonia was also happy to hear this.
"Tomi! Tomi, your cousin Sinuoli is here!" she shouted at the top of her lungs toward the back.
A clattering sound came from the warehouse in the back, and a young Dwarf ran out. He was not tall, but his face revealed a sharp wit rarely seen in Dwarfs.
"Greetings to you, respected Chosen of the Goddess, my dear cousin Sinuoli!" He appeared somewhat excited. "Is there anything I can do for you, or rather, for the Mother Goddess?"
"Good morning, cousin. I want to go to Jiliuguan to purchase a batch of weapons to sell along the way in a caravan. Can you make the trip for me?" Sinuoli asked politely.
"Valaya above! This is my honor. By the way, are you responsible for escorting the caravan at the end of the month?" Tomi looked at Sinuoli, and after receiving an affirmative answer, he became excited.
"Mother, let me go in Father's place! I could run to the nearby mountain forts with my eyes closed! With Master Sinuoli and the Mother Goddess's protection, where would any blind fools dare to infringe upon the caravan?" Tomi looked at his mother pleadingly.
"There is also the army sent by King Thorgrim for protection. Let me go, Mother, so you and Father can be reunited for a few more days!"
Sonia was moved, and she sighed: "Little Beards are always like this, but this is a good thing to some extent. Back in the day, weren't my brother and I the same?"
After talking to herself, she looked at Sinuoli: "Then I'll leave Tomi to you. Try not to let him go to the front lines, but if it really comes to a critical moment, he won't lose face for the Clan!"
"Come, find a chair, let's discuss how much to buy and what to buy!" Aunt Sonia ordered.
"I only have a budget of about two thousand gold coins," Sinuoli said shamefully.
"What?" Aunt Sonia exclaimed.
"Well, did I hear that right, my dear cousin?" Tomi, who was looking for a chair, also turned around.
Looking at his two suspicious kin, Sinuoli laughed more and more awkwardly.
"This is at most the price of a few dozen Thunder Guns. If you have a discount, maybe you can get more," Tomi said, weighing his words.
"I think I understand. How about this, how about Auntie lends you some?" Sonia tapped her coffee cup.
"But let's be clear in advance: even though we are relatives, we must settle accounts clearly. You'll be gone for about half a year; how about I charge you five percent interest? I won't even ask for collateral; if you can't pay it back, you can just spend some time in the workshop," she said with a smile.
"Then how much do you think I should borrow? I mean, how much worth of goods can I sell?" Sinuoli's question was a bit naive.
"Only Ranald could say for sure! How would I know!" Aunt Sonia was amused to the point of anger by Sinuoli.
Ranald is the god of fickle luck and wealth. He is a Human deity, and unlike other gods, his priests are thieves, swindlers, and gamblers, not elites from noble backgrounds with good educations.
His temples are casinos, brothels, taverns, and other dens of vice, not magnificent marble cathedrals.
The Lanodejiaopai views the rest of the world as a river of constantly flowing wealth. Most merchants who are confident in their own wisdom and ability will worship him.
"Yes, the sales of weapons and equipment are greatly affected by war. However, I see that after just experiencing an invasion by a large Waaagh!, the demand for firearms among our kin might be quite high!" Tomi analyzed.
"Then, how about I borrow eight thousand gold coins?" Sinuoli asked tentatively.
"Make it ten thousand! You have to keep some money on you; you'll always need to spend money along the way. Rounding it up makes it easier for me to calculate interest!" Aunt Sonia was very generous and also very thoughtful.
Sinuoli decided to hurry back to his courtyard first to ask Bulimu for a family letter, which could also serve as a discount voucher for cousin Tomi's purchase of munitions.
Aunt Sonia had no objections to this. As for how to configure the ten thousand gold coins' worth of goods, the three Dwarfs decided to entrust it to Guild Master Buluoke. With his experience, it would surely be more appropriate.
After settling this, Sinuoli squatted in the Forging Room in the courtyard and began to carve his Rune of Wrath and Ruin. His goods, his Warhammer, his little sheep, and his Anvil Guard all needed time.
Sinuoli believed that when all this was ready, his strength would see a new leap.
Time in the workshop always passed quickly. Sinuoli used the earth fire to melt the metal, swung his Forging Hammer to fold and shape it repeatedly, and finally used Dragon Blood to engrave the Rune.
Looking at the final blue Rune with a small circle inside a square, Sinuoli wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled very brightly.
This was the first time since his transmigration that he, a Rune Master, had produced a Rune with his own power. A successful practical operation allowed him to deepen his understanding of the content in his original memory, barely achieving a thorough mastery.
Pushing open the door of the Forging Room, Sinuoli first went to take a bath, and immediately after, he discovered that the courtyard was piled with many things.
Lifting the cowhide cloth covering them, Sinuoli discovered that this was the munition he had purchased from Jiliuguan.
The most conspicuous were four Organ Guns. The small fortresses in the west could not produce these, and they were just right for dealing with their numerous but mediocre-quality enemies.
The smaller ones were one hundred Thunder Guns. These were hard currency among Dwarf munitions; both Dwarfs and Humans could use them, so they would surely not be hard to sell.
There was also an independent box containing twenty Iron-drake Handguns.
"Grungni above! Guild Master Buluoke is truly generous!" Sinuoli exclaimed. Ten thousand gold coins could normally buy the first two items; these twenty Iron-drake Handguns were purely a bonus, and their price was definitely not cheap.
Thanks to Lenin for the tip and monthly ticket that pointed the way.
Asking for tickets, collections, and tips at the beginning of the month.
