Chapter 205: Wheel of Fire

~8 min read 1,596 words

Planet Five of the Flame Wheel, gray warships gathered in high orbit.

Torpedoes rained down like raindrops upon the remaining artillery arrays and missile platforms in orbit; the Ork defense systems were at an absolute disadvantage, struggling to hold on amidst the roars of the Space Wolves.

Thousands of weapons joined the bombardment, energy weapons, kinetic weapons, and bombardment cannons firing wildly at the Ork defensive installations.

The fleet of the Sixth Legion destroyed the vast majority of the orbital defense facilities within two days of ship-time.

Massive wreckage fell like a meteor shower; huge, irregular burning objects passed through the clouds, illuminating the Ork Fortress.

The largest piece of wreckage was as big as a Cruiser, and it streaked across the Fortress in fourteen seconds.

Finally, it slammed violently into the ground, carving out a pitch-black canyon along the way, and the entire earth trembled because of it.

The Orks excitedly stretched their legs and ran toward the wreckage.

Lances descended from the sky, vaporizing the Orks that had greedily run out of the Fortress.

The multiple sonic booms of hypersonic shells slammed into the Ork Fortress with a deafening roar.

On the fifth day of the orbital bombardment, after Enoch Lashwin confirmed that the Orks' anti-aircraft fire had been basically destroyed, he impatiently issued the landing order.

Iron-gray Stormbirds blotted out the sky, the heads of their giant, blade-like bodies painted with the double-wolf emblem.

At the very front of the formation, the Wolf Lord inside the cabin saw the Orks busily turning their ugly, strange cannons.

"Missiles!"

Several missiles shot toward the targets, and other Stormbirds also fired missiles, destroying the artillery in the areas adjacent to the landing zone.

After the artillery strafing cleared the Orks below, the landing gear opened, and the Stormbirds slammed heavily onto the ground.

The moment the Stormbirds landed, the assault ramps slammed onto the ground, and Lashwin, clad in gray armor, leaped out.

The Wolf Lord was draped in a wolf pelt obtained from hunting on Fenris, and two massive fangs protruded from the lower part of his helmet.

Lashwin roared at the sky, drowning out the battle cries of the Orks.

He raised his hand to fire his Bolter Pistol while impatiently charging out.

【I must win the victory of the hunt!】

The Wolf Lord's opponent, Sanchez, did not rush to launch an attack; he stared at the holographic image.

The information leaping on the video screen surged into his mind.

Sanchez was lost in thought, his voice low.

"Raising a large number of Squigs is the Snakebite Clan mentioned in the data sent by Father."

Szczesny, standing to his left, nodded.

"The data Father circulated to the Legion mentioned that clans are a hereditary phenomenon stored in Ork genes; they are effective development and combat modes formed during their long-term fighting."

"The Orks entrenched on Planet Seven that are raising Squigs on a large scale must undoubtedly be the Snakebite Clan."

Jorginho saw the giant totems of the Orks and the patterns on the tribal battle banners in the scan results; he extended his finger to tap lightly, circling several scanned images.

"It can be confirmed, it is indeed the Snakebite Clan."

The Reaper Lord's black eyes were deep, "Then we can formulate tactics based on the characteristics of the Snakebite Clan."

Szczesny recalled the data released by the Gene-Father and then said.

"Snakebite Orks prefer tradition over technology; they will ride Squig beasts to implement agile and savage frontal assault tactics against the enemy."

Jorginho noticed another point, and he spoke up.

"Snakebite Orks loathe technology; they are often influenced by the subcultures among the Orks and become Beast Snagga tribes."

"Beast Snagga Orks like to hunt the biggest, toughest prey."

"Targets worth hunting are not limited to monsters; large war vehicles and Titans are also within the scope."

The "Pyromaniac" had bright eyes, and flames ignited.

"This is exactly what can be utilized; I am going to set a fire."

After Sanchez formulated the battle plan, the Seventh Legion launched an offensive against Planet Seven of the Flame Wheel.

On the planet's surface, the Ork Boss of the Snakebite Clan, Silva, looked up and saw countless black aircraft descending from the sky.

Silva was an Ork who was taller and much more robust than the others of his kind.

He was draped in untanned primitive fur, smeared with mud and low-quality war paint, and hung with the claws and teeth of various beasts.

Silva looked at the Witch Boy in front of him and bared his fangs.

"Marco, the time for the hunt has come; find me the biggest prey of the humies."

"Boss, I will definitely find you the biggest prey!"

The Weirdboy held a Bone Staff pieced together from a skull and leg bones; he shouted loudly, as he was the guide for the Beast Snagga Orks' hunt.

Green energy surged from Marco's body, and his huge feet jumped and stomped on the ground.

The surging, powerful energy made the Weirdboy roar with excitement; he held his arms high, and the energy leaping in his eyes crackled.

Ten-odd seconds later, the light converged, and Marco looked at Silva.

"Boss, I found it."

The Weirdboy turned to the back-left, his right arm violently swinging the Bone Staff.

"So big, so many big iron cars."

Green mist surged in Silva's mind; the mechanical claw on his right arm opened and then slammed shut, the white claw like a giant python biting down.

"Gork and Mork told me to go hunt, to smash the humies' big black cars."

"Waaagh!"

The Beast Snagga Orks held their weapons high and shouted loudly.

"Waaagh!"

Silva strode toward his pet and climbed onto the Squig.

The Snakebite boys also climbed onto their mounts one after another, following their Boss to begin the hunt.

Hundreds upon hundreds of squigs ran rapidly, making the ground rumble and shake.

Silva led the Snakebite boys in a mad dash, the fire sun sliding down bit by bit from its highest point.

Until the sun was about to be swallowed by the horizon, he finally saw the black carriage.

He had never seen such a large carriage; it was like a black mountain range.

The Warboss also saw black jetbikes spitting tail flames, speeding away.

Sitting on the backs of the jetbikes were black-armored knights; they were much larger than humies, but not as large as himself.

"Humies are just humies, cowardly, weak creatures."

"Smash them for me!"

Silva let out a loud shout, driving the squigs to charge toward the black carriage.

The Snakebite boys followed behind, charging toward the black carriage in excitement.

They jumped off their squigs, surrounded the black carriage, and scrambled to smash it with the weapons in their hands.

Sanchez, riding a jetbike, kept turning his head to monitor the situation behind him; he saw the Orcs not pursuing, but charging into the trap as he had expected.

The "black carriage" was something he had ordered his Chapter serfs and servitors to build; it was as large as thirty-six Macharius Heavy Tanks.

There were no parts inside it; it was merely a hollow shell, and the serfs had finished manufacturing it in just one ship-day.

After the Pingsu ranliao was unloaded from the Transport Ship, the Transport Ship hoisted the "black carriage" onto it, and the stage for the "Pyromaniac" was set.

His thunderwolf was restless due to its mate's pregnancy, so Sanchez was riding a jetbike today.

Sanchez twisted the throttle, the jetbike circled around and headed toward the "cannon barrel" of the "black carriage."

Entering the range where the "Pyromaniac" could unleash his extraordinary abilities, he raised both hands.

Spirituality gathered, rapidly condensing into a "Blazing White Spear."

The "Pyromaniac" pushed forward with force, and the "Blazing White Spear" flew toward the "cannon barrel," dragging a string of fireballs behind it.

Sanchez floored the throttle, the black jetbike turned around, and he sped away from the "black carriage."

Behind him, the "Blazing White Spear" traced an arc, plunged into the pitch-black "cannon barrel," and a string of fireballs followed it inside.

The "Blazing White Spear" passed through the cannon barrel and slammed into the stacked barrels of Pingsu ranliao.

The flames ignited the Pingsu ranliao.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of explosions tore the "black carriage" apart, swallowing the Snakebite boys.

Most of the Orks were burned to ashes the moment the explosion occurred.

Those Snakebite boys whose bodies had been tempered to be larger and stronger through countless battles roared in pain and charged out of the sea of fire.

The "Pyromaniac" felt as if stars were exploding within his body from the blast, and his body felt as if it were burning.

A heatwave rushed toward him, slapping against Sanchez; even wearing power armor, he felt a wave of intense heat, and his body was soaked in sweat.

"Spread out, don't let a single one escape."

The Order Shadows drove their black jetbikes and spread out, forming a perimeter, firing bolter rounds at the squigs and Orks.

Boom, boom, boom!

The bolter rounds hit the Orcs, triggering secondary explosions of the Pingsu ranliao, and the bodies of the Orks were blown to pieces.

Roar!

A heaven-shaking roar erupted from the sea of fire, and a tall, pitch-black figure charged out of the flames; he was even taller than the Order Shadows riding on their jetbikes.

The Warboss raised his left-arm blade high and slashed down fiercely.

With one strike, he cleaved an Order Shadow and their jetbike in two.
