Chapter 230: Catachan Breeds Hunters
"Lord, Lord Mikel, Catachan people, regardless of gender, are all excellent soldiers; their individual quality as elites is not inferior to the elites of the Solar Auxilia."
"Based on my understanding, half of the Catachans do not survive infancy, and the other half do not live to adulthood."
"Therefore, everyone who lives to adulthood is an excellent Warrior."
The "Hunter" said with admiration.
"But Catachans must still undergo training; they must learn Vostonia to communicate with friendly forces."
"They must also receive training in tactical formations and other areas so they can exert their combat effectiveness more effectively on large-scale battlefields."
The Reaper Lord asked: "In your opinion, what are the characteristics of the Catachans?"
The "Hunter" pondered for over ten seconds before answering.
"This Death World has tempered them into complex Catachans who combine obvious recklessness, bravado, constant vigilance, and near-paranoid caution."
"They excel at rapid movement, close-quarters combat, infiltration, and sniping; they are adept at using booby traps and snares."
"The best among them possess keen sensory abilities nearly akin to the Order Shadow, only slightly weaker in their perception of the Warp; they are skilled at observation and launching surprise attacks."
The Reaper Lord nodded slightly and spoke.
"This is the same as what I have observed; Catachans are very suitable to be Hunters."
"They are good at observing the environment and using traps."
"Just as the Gene-Father said, Catachan breeds natural Hunters and is the most suitable recruitment world for the Seventh Legion."
After sighing, he asked the "Hunter" in charge of recruitment.
"How is the progress of the recruitment?"
"Lord, there are about 150,000 age-appropriate boys on Catachan; each of them is a good prospect and meets the requirements for a Candidate."
Seeing the joy on the Reaper Lord's face, the Chief Apothecary reminded him.
"Sanchez, you cannot recruit them all into the Chapter."
"Although this would increase the number of new recruits in the Chapter in the short term, it would leave the next generation lacking males, leading to a decline in future numbers."
The Reaper Lord understood that the Chief Apothecary's reminder was correct, "I understand."
He turned to the "Hunter" responsible for new recruit conscription and said: "The selection of new recruits must be the best of the best."
"Every Candidate must be one in a hundred."
The Reaper Lord then said to the "Hunter" responsible for recruiting the Auxilia: "Every Auxilia soldier must breed offspring before leaving Catachan for service."
Both "Hunters" responded in unison: "Understood, Lord."
The Reaper looked at the Chief Apothecary and asked.
"The population of this Death World is only about five million; as a recruitment world for the Chapter, the number is too small."
"Is there any way to make the population of this world continue to grow?"
The Chief Apothecary replied immediately.
"Yes, Father had already instructed previously that this Death World is dangerous, so the most lacking resource for Catachans is various medicines."
"I have already provided them with a large amount of medicine."
"The 'Apothecaries' are also researching the agents in the local jungle, developing medicines that can effectively neutralize local biological toxins."
Finally, the Chief Apothecary smiled confidently.
"Sanchez, the population of your Chapter's recruitment world will continue to grow."
While the Seventh Legion was taking root and developing on Catachan, the five worlds of the Triken System finished their first round of development.
On Planet III, "Harvest Priest" Malena rode a shuttle, skimming through the air and looking down at the surface below.
Bright, warm sunlight spilled onto the ground, and a winding, picturesque river flowed through the fertile black alluvial plains.
In the boundless rice fields, high-yield rice ears swayed with the wind.
The irrigation system pumped water from the Tevere River, and sprinkler facilities filled the air with water mist, causing countless rainbows to appear out of thin air.
The newly promoted "Physician," who had just returned from the Flame Wheel System, looked at the C-S-68 Farm below.
"What a bountiful and beautiful world; it is like a painting that will never be destroyed."
After Kairui's hometown promoted large-scale planting and breeding, it inevitably paid the price of environmental destruction.
Cradle of the Sea was not like most Agricultural Worlds in the Imperium built according to standard templates; it had no fertilizer factories dyeing the air yellow.
Nor were there transport ships from off-world delivering increasing amounts of nitrates and phosphates there.
There was no thick, brown pesticide smog permeating the planting areas; biological fertilizers extracted from fish heads, fish bones, fish skin, shrimp shells, crab shells, shellfish, viscera, and minced meat were used to irrigate the fertile farmland.
Even so, the farmland of Cradle of the Sea inevitably experienced soil acidification due to the use of fertilizers and the four harvests per stellar year.
Likewise, aquaculture and fishing also caused some damage to the aquatic ecology.
But on Triken, while it developed rapidly, the environment did not suffer any damage.
Malena nodded slightly, her delicate nose sniffing the fragrance of beets and cabbage drifting up from C-T-26 Farm and entering the shuttle.
Her full lips parted slightly, and she said with a sigh.
"Even though the Eldar are Xenos, one must admit that they do indeed have unique aspects in world-shaping."
Malena rubbed the Blue Data Crystal in her right hand; it came from the Vigilance System and was the result of the Arbiter Lord's interrogation of the Avenger Bishop of Biel-Tan.
The Avenger Bishop had a certain degree of understanding of environmental transformation; after the Arbiter Lord interrogated him, he recorded this knowledge into the Data Crystal.
After Ninglu received it, he decided to give it to Malena, and Kairui brought it back.
Malena's eyes were deep, and the corners of her mouth curled up.
【Using psychic powers to transform the world like the Eldar, and carving out a farm on Catachan where the plants have their own will.
This is no small challenge; it is very interesting.】
Kairui, with a bronze-colored face, looked at the fruit trees laden with smooth fruits at C-G-38 Farm below and asked worriedly.
"Lord, do you really want to entrust me with the responsibility of supplying grain for these five systems and supervising the impact of industrial development on the environment?"
After years of development, the Teriken system has become the Legion's most important supply base.
As of now, the Eleventh Legion has a total of sixty-eight star systems in the Obscurus Sector.
On most worlds, the local food output cannot fully sustain the food requirements of the local population, necessitating varying degrees of supplies from the outside.
Once the supplies from Teriken are lost, many worlds could fall into famine and unrest.
Kairui does not have enough confidence in whether she can shoulder such a heavy responsibility.
Malena looked at Kairui and said encouragingly.
"Kairui, having followed me for so long and received the bestowal of Lord Ninglu, you are already a true 'Cultivator'."
"You are the one I have focused on cultivating the most, and you have the ability to take on this responsibility."
"I have already laid the foundation in the Teriken system; you only need to develop it along my line of thinking."
Malena's tea-brown eyes stared at the M-Y-58 Ranch and the flock of sheep being driven by the shepherd.
"Moreover, Lord Ninglu has issued an order for me to head to Catachan."
The "Harvest Priest" had deep tea-brown pupils; she thought of the living vines and man-eating flowers, her heart full of yearning.
【Obtaining those mutated plants will significantly increase my combat power.】
"You are someone I trust; Teriken can only be entrusted to you."
Malena's trust gave Kairui confidence, and she decided to accept the appointment.
"My Lady, having gained your trust, I will certainly go all out and will not let you down."
Malena nodded slightly and said to Kairui.
"To become a true 'Physician', you need practice."
"I have already communicated with the Legion's apothecaries; they welcome you as a 'Doctor' to treat the Candidates who failed the transformation."
Although the transformation of the Vostonian and Cradle of the Sea Warriors who followed Ninglu has already ended, the apothecary facilities on Teriken I still exist and are the Eleventh Legion's third-largest transformation base.
The top two transformation bases are the Primarch's flagship, the Shadow of Sovereignty, and the Void Hunter, where the Chief Apothecary is located.
The Legion Monastery is still under construction, and the completed portion of the transformation facilities has just been put into use, currently only able to provide transformations for Vostonians.
It will still take time to surpass the three major recruit transformation bases.
As the two spoke, they flew over the Y-M-81 Ranch, which stretched for several kilometers, and the hissing corn.
"My Lady, thank you for your help; I will certainly be a good 'Physician' and serve the Legion."
Three days later, Malena boarded a Void Ship and sailed toward Catachan.
