Chapter 239: Huang Laohan Has Become Addicted to Winning Without Effort (Please Subscribe)
Ninglu thought of the various "Dark Age of Technology" relics on Medusa and immediately decided to answer the Emperor's summons.
After pondering for a moment, he decided on his entourage.
"The Fourth Legion will accompany me to Medusa; order the Death Lord to withdraw from the surface immediately and prepare to set sail."
Ninglu remembered the Black Snow Mountain of Kalah where Ferrus Manus had landed, a place considered cursed by the locals, where the dead spirits of the Long Night and monsters with iron skins wandered.
Ferrus Manus had delved deep into the underground of Medusa's frozen ruins, and after opening several ancient sealed bunkers, he discovered mutants and zombies hidden in the depths, as well as cyborgs made of flesh and metal.
Beyonders of the "Death" pathway could be effective on Medusa.
Of course, there were also Beyonders of the "Perfecter" pathway and Techmarines.
"Order Gabriel to come see me."
Forge Master Rosicky Cech was currently presiding over the deployment of Portals and Fortress-class Energy Shields across seven star systems, while Wojciech Berek was developing Sepra Mundi.
Two stellar hours later, Ninglu met the Techmarine Gabriel.
"What is the current status of the Knight Mechs of the Vickstrix Family?"
Gabriel began his report.
"My Lord, in accordance with your orders, I have been assisting them in repairing the Knight Mechs ever since the Vickstrix Family swore allegiance to you."
"As of the time I left the Daxos Binary System, eighty-three of the ninety-five total mechs of the Vickstrix Family have been repaired; the other twelve are severely damaged, and I do not have the ability to repair them."
"Since arriving in the Wheel of Fire System, I have been operating alongside the knights of Vickstrix, and forty Knight Mechs have sustained varying degrees of damage in combat."
"Fourteen of them are beyond repair, and ten were destroyed by Death Dreadnoughts and artillery while attacking the Ork Warlord fortress."
After listening to the briefing on Vickstrix, Ninglu spoke.
"You will accompany me to the Medusa System."
Subsequently, by questioning and observing Gabriel's aura, he confirmed that he had digested the "Knower" Potion.
Ninglu had Arsena introduce the situation on Medusa to Gabriel, then returned to the Kingdom of Disorder and ordered the Space Ape to concoct an "Archaeologist" Potion.
Upon returning to the real world, Gabriel drank the golden potion and advanced to a Sequence 8 Beyonder.
Five stellar days later, the Shadow of Sovereignty and the fleet of the Fourth Legion set sail for the Medusa System.
Except for the Second, Third, Fourth, and Seventh Legions, the other eight Legions committed varying numbers of troops to continue purging the remaining Orks in the Wheel of Fire System alongside the Second and Sixth Legions.
Three weeks of ship time later, the fleet arrived at the Medusa System.
Ninglu took a shuttle alone to the Emperor's flagship, the Bucephalus.
En route, he looked out through the viewing port at the Medusa System.
The star of the Medusa System was very unique; it was a supergiant blue star.
This system had a total of four planets orbiting the "blue sun."
By any measure, this star system was not a habitable world; they should be classified as Death Worlds, just like Catachan and Fenris.
A moment later, the shuttle landed on the flight deck of the Bucephalus.
Stepping off the deck, Ninglu immediately saw Huang Laohan and Alpharius standing tall behind him.
"Ninglu, after you retrieve your brother, I will discuss with you in detail the merits you have achieved in the Wheel of Fire."
"Now, let us depart."
Ninglu had no objections; he spoke.
"As you wish."
The three boarded the Emperor's Stormbird, and the gunship took off immediately.
Ninglu's gaze pierced through the viewing port, through the silicate dust clouds, asteroids, and wreckage of derelict ships within the system, looking toward the giant planet several times the size of Terra, Medusa IV.
The Primarch's eyes suddenly narrowed; he keenly sensed surging psychic power emanating from the Emperor, enveloping the Stormbird.
Ion storms, randomly drifting space mines, and a vast amount of ancient yet still lethal automated weapon systems.
In his "Warp Vision," it was a cold world, only slightly less frigid than Fenris.
The violent ion storms and drifting space mines were all kept at bay.
The ancient, lethal automated weapon systems were as if "blinded," letting the Stormbird fly right past them.
On the surface of Medusa, the throne cast from Medusan iron was like the hard stone of a desolate land of shadows, and as black as shale in the depths of winter.
Just like all creations from the hands of Ferrus Manus, it was beautiful.
The throne had a towering, hand-crafted metal chain backrest and somewhat worn armrests, with thick bars of black iron coiled like snakes upon it, etched with silver scales.
Upon the throne, Ferrus Manus, who had been conversing with those around him, looked up at the sky; his silver eyes, like liquid metal, shimmered with a dazzling light.
The Medusans followed the Gorgon, and their demigod's gaze turned toward the sky; they saw the dense atmosphere as if it were being split apart by lightning.
In the memory of the Medusans, such a scene had only occurred twice: the first time was when the Gorgon descended, and now was the second.
Ferrus Manus rose abruptly; his voice rang out as it always did, a sound like poured lead echoing through the hall.
He said to Gabriel Santo and the Iron Fathers he had trained.
"Prepare yourselves."
The Gorgon of the Medusans offered no explanation and strode away.
The Iron Fathers scrambled onto their machines, each vehicle at least a hundred meters long.
Engines roared, Santo and the Iron Fathers floored the throttles, and the iron chariots sped away.
But they were soon left behind by the Gorgon, the Iron Fathers' chariots racing across the pitted surface.
The hundred-meter-long iron chariots were like toys, now tossed into the air, now plunging into impact craters.
One iron chariot had the misfortune of crashing sideways into an abandoned mineral excavation pit that reached the core, and was swallowed in an instant, leaving only the sound of crashing and terrified screams.
"Stop!"
Santo of the Avini Clan shouted.
"Trust the Gorgon; he is a demigod, no one can threaten him."
One stellar hour later, the Stormbird landed.
Ninglu trailed one step behind Huang Laohan, and Alpharius, as before, also trailed one step behind him.
Ninglu looked toward Ferrus Manus, whose shale-colored hair was cut very short.
His eyes were like two silver coins, reflecting not a single ray of light, and they looked at the three of them with cold, scrutinizing gazes.
He wore chainmail, held together by serrated straps made of Medusa iron, and his exposed, pale muscles were knotted and covered in scars.
Ferrus Manus was not savage like the Wolf King; he was like a boning knife, or like hand-forged armor.
Ninglu's gaze finally focused on Ferrus Manus's hands, which shone as if encased in liquid metal gloves.
His eyes were deep, and he thought to himself.
【Asimos is very likely truly a C'tan or at least a fragment of one.】
While Ninglu was deep in thought, the Emperor spoke.
"Ferrus Manus, my son."
"I am the Master of Mankind; it is time for you to return to my side."
Ferrus Manus spoke, his voice sounding like molten lead.
"You must prove that you possess power that rivals my own."
He clenched his silver fists, and even though the starlight was obscured by thick clouds, his iron hands shimmered with a dazzling radiance.
The Emperor of Mankind's eyes flashed, and he spoke.
"Your brother, Ninglu, shall take my place and fight you."
Ninglu frowned slightly, glanced at Huang Laohan, and thought to himself.
【Is Huang Laohan addicted to winning without effort?
First he made me fight Leman Russ, and now he makes me fight Ferrus Manus.
Unlike the Wolf King, with whom I would inevitably diverge due to psychic powers, I have no reason to conflict with the Gorgon of Medusa!】
