Chapter 44: Sailor
The Cradle of the Sea, the largest island—Castello Island.
Nineteen Fulao Aether Masters in purple-gold robes led over three thousand Warriors to launch an attack on the primitive walls built of stone and timber.
The frontal area where the Fulao launched their offensive was gathered with ten Psionics and one thousand Warriors.
Standing on the wall, facing the firepower of the ten Aether Masters, was a woman holding a wooden staff with a skull of a sea beast embedded at the top.
Her features were clear and soft, her forehead broad and smooth, and her eyebrows were thick yet delicate, like two exquisite ink lines.
Fury flickered in her tea-brown pupils; she raised her fair, delicate left arm, and a bolt of blue lightning tore through the sky, wrapping around three of the Psionics.
Countless tiny arcs of electricity burrowed into the Fulao bodies like living things, erupting with crackling sounds.
Accompanied by the flashing blue light, the Aether Masters sprayed blood from their mouths and noses, their white hair turning to charcoal and sliding off as the Fulao bodies trembled.
The other seven Psionics each raised their staves to attack the wall; the cunning nature of space pirates drove them to attack other weaker islanders to exhaust the powerful enemy.
Flames rose, ruthlessly swallowing several islanders who were firing Vostonia Laser Guns.
Several islanders who were waving Chainswords to parry the attacks of Fulao Warriors were thrown up by an invisible force and smashed into the islanders rushing onto the wall.
The violent attacks of the Psionics instantly caused dozens of islanders to be severely wounded.
The female Psionic bit her full, elastic lips, her staff aimed at the Commander beside her who had lost half of his body.
Following the injection of Biochemical Psionic, the bronze-colored body recovered at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The Commander propped himself up with his hands and crawled up from the ground; he noticed the Nü-Shaman beside him.
"Shaman Malena, you should go; it cannot be held."
"No," Malena, with her straight nose bridge, lifted her chin and said firmly, "I saw it; the Mother of the Sea showed me the arrival of a giant descending from the sky, and he will save our home."
The Commander swung his sword to hack a Fulao Warrior who had rushed onto the wall to death, then kicked him hard, sending him tumbling off the eleven-meter-high wall.
He looked up at the azure sky, where three Elifa with orange-yellow bellies flew past, their azure wings spread wide.
A bitter smile appeared at the corner of his mouth; he was certain that the Shaman's prophecy—which predicted the Xenos invasion and that the Vostonians would not arrive in time—was false this time.
【She was just trying to boost morale.】
Just as he was about to retract his gaze, he suddenly saw a red speck the size of a grain of rice in the sky gradually enlarging.
The Commander rubbed his eyes and then screamed wildly.
"They're here, reinforcements are here."
Malena's lips curled up; she held her staff high with both hands, mobilizing all the power within her body.
Within tens of meters in front of her, the hearts of all the Fulao beat rapidly, their blood surged, and their skin color turned dark instantly.
Accompanied by roars, they lost consciousness and stumbled to the ground.
The seven surviving Aether Masters also felt weak all over and fell to the ground.
Malena's body swayed, and she leaned against her staff to keep from falling.
She looked up and saw a figure occupying the sky, a giant identical to the one she had seen in the Coral Sea.
Malena tried her best to turn her head, following that figure.
He smashed heavily into the Xenos; the earth shook and the walls trembled.
Hundreds of Xenos were directly shaken to death, and hundreds of Reavers fell over.
The Aether Masters had just struggled to stand up from the "Blood Boiling" when another great force surged from behind, throwing them into the sky.
They tried their best to turn their heads; their wide field of vision allowed them to see a giant arrive before them just as they turned their heads halfway, and then they lost consciousness.
The Commander watched as the heads of seven powerful Xenos were instantly sent flying, deep purple blood splattering the ground; he opened his mouth, and the splashed mud poured in.
By the time he spat out the silt in his mouth, the area in front of him was full of the severed limbs of Xenos.
Ninglu did not stop his pace, taking Maria and the others to slaughter the Fulao.
Just now, when he looked down at Castello Island from the air, he had already seen that large areas of this island had been looted and destroyed by Xenos, with only this largest city and three smaller cities still struggling to hold on.
Just as Ninglu was slaughtering the Xenos, Szczesny jumped out of the Assault Boat excitedly and fell into the azure sea.
As soon as his body entered the sea, he felt as comfortable as a fish released back into the water.
An Aether Master was attracted by the sound; he quickly came to the beach and used telekinesis to support his body, temporarily hovering above the water.
On the Assault Boat, two Warriors of the Vostonia Fourth Regiment raised the Laser Guns in their hands, beams of Laser firing at the Fulao Psionic.
The Aether Master raised a hand and lifted a "Force Field".
The Laser beam struck the Field Shield, sending out invisible Ether ripples.
The Fulao Psionic had just blocked the attack when he suddenly felt his ankles being grabbed.
Before the Aether Master could mobilize the Ether Energy, he was dragged downward by a great force and fell into the sea with a splash.
He tried his best to mobilize the Ether Energy, wanting to use telekinesis to force Szczesny away.
Szczesny felt the Xenos's struggle; phantom fish scales appeared on the backs of his hands, and his five fingers tightened with frantic force.
The Aether Master opened his mouth in pain, and seawater poured into his throat.
Although he possessed a head similar to a shark, the Fulao was not a fish; like any other drowning victim, the more he struggled, the faster he sank.
The "Sailor" was completely unaffected; he had long since tested that even without carrying any equipment, he could easily dive for over seventeen minutes.
The Xenos was dragged down rapidly; although he was an Aether Master, he was not skilled in biochemical Ether Spells and could not create oxygen for himself, which was fatal for a Fulao who needed to breathe.
Szczesny felt the resistance growing weaker; he gave a violent tug, wrapped his arms around the Xenos's neck, and twisted hard.
The "Sailor" could exert his superior strength perfectly even underwater; the Fulao's head was twisted off directly by Szczesny.
He kicked the Aether Master's corpse deeper into the water and swam upward.
Szczesny surfaced over a hundred meters in a few seconds; at this moment, he suddenly felt the seawater beneath his feet fluctuate strangely.
He immediately drew his waterproofed Chainsword, pressed his finger on the activation button, and looked downward vigilantly.
【The Xenos's corpse is gone.】
Szczesny became increasingly vigilant, his eyes searching the surroundings.
After a moment, he had discovered nothing and could only helplessly surface; he still had to command his subordinates to attack Trinio, the second-largest island of the Cradle of the Sea.
Five hours after landing on Castello Island, Ninglu had cleared the entire island of Xenos.
He saw the female psyker he had noticed while looking down from above; his gaze met her tea-brown pupils, and he was surprised to find that while her pupils merely constricted, she did not reveal an expression of pain.
【Her will is very firm; although she was uncomfortable when meeting my gaze, it could not be considered agony.
She is even a bit stronger than Howard and Maria, and is the strongest person I have seen since I crashed on Vostonia.】
Just as Ninglu was deep in thought, the Shaman bowed and spoke in Wosuotuniya Low Gothic.
"Malena Skala offers you her greetings and thanks you for your rescue."
