Chapter 5: Twisting Off the Dog's Head

~9 min read 1,649 words

Ninglu brought his two subordinates to the center of the Hantemansi Dome; two guards holding weapons stood before the door of a small three-story gray building.

"Are you Ninglu?"

"That's right."

Upon hearing this, the two guards vigilantly glanced at the laser gun behind his back.

"You can only go in alone, and you cannot carry weapons."

Ninglu cooperatively took off the laser gun and chainsword, handing them to his subordinates.

The two guards breathed a sigh of relief, stood by the opening on the left, and said.

"Adjudicator Dimitrov is waiting for you in the Arbitration Hall on the third floor."

People encountered along the way all looked at the boy with astonishment.

"Is he the one who killed the 'Vulture'?"

"'Vulture' must have been drunk to have been killed by a kid like this."

"I heard his marksmanship is very accurate, more accurate than the guards beside Boleslaw King; every shot pierces the enemy's eyes."

"..."

Ninglu clearly heard the whispered discussions of the people around him and walked to the third floor with calm composure.

The entire third floor, over four hundred square meters, was occupied by the Adjudication Hall; after the two guards at the door checked again that he was not carrying weapons, they let him in.

Ninglu walked into the Adjudication Hall; standing at the window with his back to him was a figure wearing a gray uniform with his left arm replaced by a steel prosthetic limb.

"Woof, woof..."

The Chemical Dog, raised on chemical agents, was as tall as an adult, with a body as wide as a fierce tiger.

The Chemical Dog darted swiftly in front of Ninglu, its green pupils staring tightly at his pitch-black eyes, and its long tongue licked toward his face; the thick, pungent odor even rushed out the door.

"Yojane, come back!"

Dimitrov turned his head, and the large dog turned around, came to its master's side, and wagged its tail.

The Adjudicator stroked the large dog's fur and looked at Ninglu.

"I heard the one who killed 'Vulture' was a boy; I thought it was just an exaggeration, but I didn't expect you to be even younger than I imagined."

"Yojane, don't scare the child."

When Dimitrov said "child," he deliberately emphasized the sound.

"There is a saying on Old Terra: 'Heroes are not judged by their youth.'"

"If your dog doesn't behave, I don't mind helping you teach it a lesson, such as tearing off its head."

Dimitrov narrowed his eyes, scanned him from head to toe, and after confirming that the boy had no weapons on him, a confident smile appeared on his face.

From the moment he became an Arbiter, he began to cultivate Yojane, adding many strengthening agents to the foundation of the traditional Vostonia formula.

No matter how vicious a Lower Hive criminal was, as long as they were targeted by the Chemical Dog, they would be torn to pieces.

If Ninglu had a gun in his hand, he would still have some misgivings, but an empty-handed boy could only be left to be slaughtered.

Of course, it would be a pity for such an excellent boy to die.

"This beast does indeed need a lesson; if you can tear off its head, I will never blame you."

"If you are pounced on and knocked down by it, it just means you are too small and need training; you will need to come to my side to learn."

After speaking, he patted the Chemical Dog on the head, and the large dog immediately leaped high into the air as if it had gone mad, pouncing toward Ninglu.

Ninglu stared intently at the Chemical Dog with his black eyes, seeing its throat position through the dense brown fur; it was slightly yellowish there, which was Yojane's habit.

After drinking chemical agents, the Chemical Dog liked to hold them in its mouth to savor them for a while; years of erosion made its already fragile throat a weak point, though it was covered by its dense fur.

When enemies faced it, they would also be intimidated by its massive body and choked by the pungent smell of chemical agents.

The Primarch tilted his body slightly, and the Chemical Dog missed its pounce, slamming its head into the ground.

Ninglu clamped the Chemical Dog's neck with both arms, catching it exactly on that yellow line, and his legs tightly gripped the large dog.

With a "Crack!" sound, the Arbiter watched in astonishment as the Chemical Dog's neck was twisted by the boy.

Dimitrov looked at the boy in shock, as if looking at a humanoid beast; someone was actually able to break the neck of a Chemical Dog with their bare hands.

"I'll take this dog head with me."

Ninglu only needed the tongue, but he still took the whole head to cover up the most important Potion Material for a "Lawyer."

"Hmm..." The Arbiter stared at the blood-stained dog carcass, "The D-46 Foundry is yours; everything remains as usual."

"Good."

Ninglu turned and left immediately; he did not feel any killing intent from Dimitrov, and he did not want to challenge the old system of the Hantemansi Dome just yet.

After walking out of the Adjudication Hall, he took out a rope he had prepared in advance, tied up the dog head, and slung it across his body.

People encountered along the way, recognizing the Arbiter's Chemical Dog, all looked at the boy in surprise.

Ninglu walked up to his subordinates, "Take me to find the Hive Giant Rat."

"Yes, Boss."

A moment later, the two subordinates brought him to a long, narrow passage.

"Boss, this passage is the largest settlement of Giant Rats among the hundreds of passages around the Hantemansi Dome."

"Let's go."

"Boss, is it just the three of us? Should we go back and call your men?"

The subordinate with a gray rat head tattooed on his left arm asked in surprise.

"Boss, you don't know, there are thousands of Giant Rats in this passage; although your marksmanship is superb, you can't withstand a tide of Giant Rats."

"I have my own ways," Ninglu looked at the two, "Do you want to eat rat meat, or eat the skin?"

The two looked at Ninglu, who held his sword in hand, their eyes full of doubt; even if the Boss's swordsmanship was as outstanding as his marksmanship, the Boss's body had not yet grown, and every Giant Rat was larger than him.

Not to mention that those Giant Rats were fast and their teeth could bite through steel plates; the most terrifying thing was their sheer number, and in a place like this passage, they could drown the three of them in an instant.

If they had a choice, the two of them naturally would not want to go, but they dared not refuse.

Ninglu killed without blinking, one shot per person; they had both seen it.

The two looked at each other, immediately reading the bitterness in the other's eyes, and they spoke at the same time.

"Boss, we'll go with you."

The two followed behind Ninglu, walking into the ten-man-wide dim passageway, and immediately saw the boss activate his Chainsword.

The roaring sound was exceptionally piercing in the passageway.

The passageway immediately began to tremble, the squeaking sounds made their scalps tingle, and countless pairs of scarlet eyes made their legs tremble.

The two had no time to stop him, and it was too late to run, so they sighed inwardly.

【We are surely going to die this time; we thought we were following a strong man, but we didn't expect it to be an arrogant child.】

Just at this moment, Ninglu moved.

Every time he swung his blade, he killed a Giant Rat.

The two's eyes gradually adapted to the dim environment, and they widened their eyes; the boy in front was like a ruthless killing Machine.

Suddenly, they saw a Giant Rat nearly two meters long pounce fiercely at Ninglu from above the passageway.

"Boss, watch out!"

Ninglu's movements were faster than their warning; he jumped to the side, avoiding the Giant Rat that had ambushed from above and the one that had pounced from the front.

The two Giant Rats collided; the ambushing Giant Rat let out a cry, and the other smaller Giant Rat immediately dared not move and was bitten to death by it.

Just as it was about to lift its head, Ninglu arrived at its side and kicked it in the head.

The Giant Rat was immediately kicked unconscious, and the other Giant Rats all stopped in their tracks, then turned and fled.

The subordinate with a rat head tattooed on his left arm slapped his forehead.

"Boss, you caught the Rat King; the rat pack was scared away by you."

Ninglu slung the Chainsword onto his back, "You two, each carry two Giant Rats; I'll reward you with meat when we get back."

"Thank you, Boss; the Boss is heroic and mighty."

"The Boss is the king of the Lower Hive."

The two vied to flatter the boss; now they knew that following the boss meant a bright future.

Ninglu hoisted the unconscious Giant Rat onto his shoulder, "Let's go."

The two each carried a Giant Rat about a meter long; rodents are lighter in weight, each only about thirty kilograms, so for people like them who live on the edge of a blade, sixty kilograms was only slightly strenuous.

Ninglu did not return to the foundry immediately; he first traded one one-meter-long Hive Giant Rat for 2000 milliliters each of black, gray, yellow, and green Lasvolt.

He only needed the black Lasvolt; exchanging for the four types was just to cover up the Potion Material.

【Go back to the foundry and pull a strand of Wire Grass, and the Potion Material will be complete.】
