Chapter 50: Thierry's Path of the
After Howard thrillingly killed the Wizard, he did not pause; feeling as though he had become a true "Arbiter," he aimed the muzzle of his Heavy Stubber at the mutants and sentenced them to Death.
Seeing their blue-robed psyker killed, the mutants' morale plummeted, and they immediately fell into chaos, scrambling to flee.
"Kill them all, don't let a single one escape!"
The "Arbiter" shouted loudly, and the workers instinctively obeyed his command, launching an attack on the mutants.
After ending the battle, the blonde noble picked up his comms-unit and loudly called for the deputy he had appointed.
"Yaxin! Yaxin!"
Receiving no response, Howard had his suspicions; he shouted to the dozen or so foremen walking toward him.
"Follow me!"
The foremen did not hesitate for a moment, following behind the "Arbiter."
At the same time, Lukebo Hive City.
Thierry encountered a powerful opponent once again: a blue-robed figure with eagle claws as sharp as a Chainsword, whose attacks were extremely bizarre.
Every one of his attacks seemed to be within the opponent's expectations; he was like a Puppet on strings, forced to follow the rhythm of the blue-robed enemy.
The enemy's attacks would always be launched exactly in the gaps between his own strikes.
Thierry knew the enemy was not like Ninglu, who possessed a complete insight into the Dao of "Osberh-Waya," but was instead relying on sorcery.
【To kill him, I must exceed the limits of his precognition.】
The "Warrior" gripped the Power Sword in his hand tightly, his eyes flashing with high-spirited fighting intent.
【He is not my King, I can definitely do this!】
Thierry lunged forward; since he first picked up a sword, this was the first time he released his combat instinct.
The "Warrior's" slash was not restricted by the Dao of "Osberh-Waya"; the crackling Power Sword tore through the air, hacking toward the blue-robed figure's right shoulder.
The blue-robed figure's mind did not conjure up his opponent's attack as it had before.
His bird-like eyes rotated at a Rapid speed.
His colorful irises expanded like the aperture of a camera lens.
Conversely, his pupils contracted rapidly.
The blue-robed figure hurriedly dodged to the side; the Power Sword grazed his body as it descended, and the crackling Disruption Field tore apart his blue robe, revealing a dense cluster of eyes on his chest.
Although he still hadn't wounded his opponent, the "Warrior's" confidence surged; he knew his idea was correct.
Thierry stepped forward and withdrew his sword, dodging the left claw that reached for him, then immediately swept his sword horizontally.
The "Warrior's" attacks were like the tide, one wave higher than the next; he no longer thought as he had before about how to use the Dao of "Osberh-Waya" to strike his opponent.
Yet, every one of his strikes contained the Dao of "Osberh-Waya."
Through fourteen years of practice, he had long since integrated "Osberh-Waya" into his body, making it his instinct.
The "Warrior's" superhuman agility overwhelmed the blue-robed figure's precognition, moving faster than the limits of his mutated eyes could capture.
After a nine-hit combo, Thierry fused the thrust from the 1st technique and the weak-point strike from the 23rd technique into a single lunge, driving the Power Sword into the largest, most disgusting eye in the center of the enemy's chest.
With a piercing shriek, the scorching energy of the Disruption Field incinerated the disgusting mutated body.
Thierry twisted his wrist, rotating the Power Sword to shred every single eye.
As he withdrew his sword, an epiphany dawned in his heart.
【Before, I was always practicing, trying to fuse the Dao of "Osberh-Waya" like my King, but I could never do it.
Today, in this moment of crisis, I have done it unintentionally.
I am not a combat servitor replicating sword techniques, but a "Warrior" who, when facing a powerful enemy, still believes in himself and finds the key to victory.】
Thinking this, Thierry immediately felt his fatigued body fill with strength, and the Power Sword in his hand felt as if it had merged with him.
Having found his own path as a "Warrior," he immediately brandished his Power Sword and charged into the crowd of mutants.
At the same moment, Howard finally followed the corridor and found his unit.
Just as he arrived at the scene, he discovered that the corridor had been blasted into a large crater, the tracks were destroyed, and the train had fallen to the lower levels.
The blonde noble led the workers into the battlefield, immediately running into a middle-aged noble dressed in fine robes.
"It's you, Bogush! You traitor, how dare you betray my Lord!"
Seeing the "Arbiter," Bogush was greatly shocked.
"Howard, you actually didn't die? Impossible, the Enlightenment Envoy said he would personally descend to punish you."
"Could it be? Impossible, the Enlightenment Envoy possesses the power gifted by the God of Wisdom, how could he fail?"
The "Arbiter" gave a cold laugh, "Traitor, die!"
He raised his Heavy Stubber and pulled the trigger; Bogush was instantly riddled with holes.
After clearing out the traitor's private soldiers and the mutants, Howard found Yaxin.
Yaxin, with his straight nose and resolute face, walked quickly to the Leader and said in a tone filled with guilt.
"My Lord, on my way here under orders, I ran into Bogush, and he proposed joining the unit."
"I failed to discover the traitor's despicable scheme; the train exploded halfway, and I was held up."
Howard nodded slightly; the moment he saw Bogush, he had already deduced the general sequence of events.
"You have responsibility, but it cannot be blamed entirely on you."
"You must reflect deeply and not make the same Error next time."
"As you command, my Lord."
Returning to Vostonia, Ninglu did not immediately return to the Hive City he controlled; he trusted in the abilities of Howard and Thierry, knowing they could withstand the mutants' attack.
His gaze was not limited to his own base, but looked toward all of Vostonia; to achieve this goal as quickly as possible, he had to win the support of Sage Kivior-2 of Altar One.
Just as the influence of the Forge Master of Mars over the entire Adeptus Mechanicus far exceeded that of the Forge Masters of other Forge Worlds, the Sage of Vostonia's Altar One was also the leader of the local tech-priests.
Through his aircraft, he looked down at the Miha Yiluofusike-chaodu below.
This largest Hive City of Vostonia was like a mountain peak, with hive towers piercing into the dim yellow clouds, and the dense buildings resembling a forest of steel.
The aircraft landed in the docking area belonging to the Mechanicus between the two highest hive towers, and Ninglu, accompanied by Luoxiji, Woyiqiehe, and others, arrived at Altar One.
A moment later, Ninglu met Sage Kivior-2, who was dressed in red robes and possessed not a shred of flesh and blood on his entire body; he was the first to propose confirming the agreement.
"Sage, I have come to obtain the Star Map in accordance with the previously reached agreement."
The faceplate of Kivior-2 lit up, and a synthesized mechanical voice sounded.
"Initiating identity verification procedure, identified as contract counterparty Monarch Ninglu."
"Requesting to exchange information regarding contractual obligations."
Woyiqiehe immediately took out the Data Slate and brought up the page.
Two beams of light shot out from the Sage's faceplate, scanning the page of the Data Slate from top to bottom.
"According to the aforementioned contractual obligations, all Star Maps possessed by the various altars of Vostonia shall be provided to Monarch Ninglu."
As he spoke, his mechanical tentacles reached deep into his red robes and then pulled out a chip.
"Delivering contractual obligation, the data chip containing the Star Map."
Woyiqiehe took the chip, inserted it into the Data Slate, and quickly reviewed it.
After verifying there were no errors, he nodded to Ninglu.
With the Star Map in hand, Ninglu looked at Kivior-2.
"Sage, the transaction is complete; now it is time to talk about the mutant riot."
