Chapter 59: Bukayo's Hunt

~7 min read 1,396 words

King Muluoze stepped down from the luxurious royal train, wearing clean and opulent Precision Power Armor and a breathing Mask to isolate himself from the foul air; he impatiently asked the Captain of the guard beside him.

"Where is that scum? End this quickly; I don't want to stay in the filthy Lower Hive any longer."

If not for the fact that the five consecutive useless guard captains appointed had all been killed by the scum, he, in his nobility, would never have descended to such a filthy place.

"My King, my men have already found the hole where that scum is."

The Captain said, operating a Data Slate to show Muluoze.

"The lair of the scum is in the Dome called Yunidi."

"Scum is just scum; Wuni-zhao sounds like a filthy place just by the name."

The Captain said fawningly: "My King is wise, that is exactly so."

"This Wuni-zhao was once a large water storage area for the Water Guild, later abandoned, and hundreds of Lower Hive gangs broke out in a brutal struggle over it."

"In the end, the entire area was reduced to ruins, all the water pipes burst, and it became a place like a mud pit, hence the name."

Muluoze frowned, his tone disdainful as he spoke.

"Scum just has no brains, not knowing that in the end, a chaotic fight leaves nothing."

"The guard force is even more useless, taking so much money every year and unable to even deal with a group of scum."

"Lead the way, end this quickly!"

Muluoze said impatiently.

An hour later, the King followed the HuoweiTongLing into the tunnel, his boots stepping into the frozen mud of the cold weather in Naryan-Mar.

At first, there was no sticky feeling as he walked, until he felt his boots become heavy and looked down to check.

With the help of night-vision goggles, Muluoze saw rotting trash, rusted metal fragments, and unknown organic matter stuck to his boots; his stomach immediately churned, and the hair all over his body stood on end.

After hesitating for a dozen seconds, the King decided to continue forward, but he called twenty-five guards, divided into five batches, to clear the trash on the ground.

The guards dared not disobey the order; they had not prepared cleaning equipment in advance and could only hunch over, using their Fangdan-duanpai to push it away.

A dozen minutes later, they felt their waists and backs aching and took turns resting.

Muluoze still felt annoyed; the airflow brought by the pipes and ventilation system occasionally poured into the tunnel, whipping up the debris being pushed aside and smashing it against his magnificent battle armor.

After traveling for another two standard hours, the King saw the view widen ahead at the convergence of several tunnels.

"It is relatively clean here; rest for ten minutes."

"Armor attendant, clean my battle armor."

The HuoweiTongLing opened his mouth; the environment here was complex and not suitable for stopping to rest, and the King had previously said to end the battle quickly.

He just wanted to dissuade him, but seeing the armor attendant had already taken out cleaning brushes, cleaning spray, and polish, he could only close his mouth helplessly.

The HuoweiTongLing gripped the Laser Pistol in his hand, scanning the surroundings vigilantly.

His gaze swept to the abandoned maintenance platform and scaffolding, his pupils constricted; there seemed to be the shadow of something in his line of sight.

It did not look like an adult, but like some kind of Lower Hive animal; he was just about to send his men to check when suddenly a beam of light shot out from the suspended building wreckage, hitting him precisely between the eyes and passing through his filter Mask.

Bukayo saw the HuoweiTongLing shot dead by his own gun and knew that the victory of this battle was set.

According to intelligence, the luxurious and shiny false king was not an excellent Commander.

His attack was the signal for the Third Regiment to launch their attack.

When "There's an ambush" stuck in the throat of the fallen HuoweiTongLing, and when the guard teams, exhausted by the King's various demands along the way, had not yet reacted, dozens of beams shot out from the abandoned maintenance platform and scaffolding.

The caught-off-guard royal guard team lost more than twenty men in the first wave of attacks.

The guards then scrambled to launch a counterattack, raising their guns to attack.

But the Warriors of the Third Regiment, whose bodies had not yet fully grown, exerted their advantages at this moment.

Their height was shorter, allowing them to hide behind lower obstacles; their bodies were narrower, exposing less surface area.

In the exchange of fire, the guard team found it difficult to hit the enemies, while those thin children were high above, using the excellent weapons in their hands to shoot them down with nowhere to hide.

Bukayo's selection also made them more adapted to fighting in complex environments, while the King's guard team was stepping into the Lower Hive for the first time; without anyone to command them, they scattered and fled.

When the attack occurred, Muluoze was startled; he shrank his body and hid behind his attendant.

But wearing Precision Power Armor and wrapped in thick fur, he was the most conspicuous, and soon attracted the firepower of a platoon.

With thumping sounds, Muluoze watched in horror as all his attendants fell.

A dozen Laser beams tore through the air, emitting sharp whistling sounds.

The moment they hit the Power Armor, they burst into blinding, searing white light.

Muluoze thought to himself, "I am going to die," and closed his eyes, yet he could still feel the light flashing.

A few seconds later, he found he was not dead, and suddenly remembered he was wearing the heirloom Precision Power Armor.

Muluoze grinned and raised his Heavy Stubber, sweeping it toward the top.

Bukayo discovered that several Warriors of the Fourth Platoon had fallen; he did not want to consume the lives of his men and issued an order to withdraw.

The enemy had stepped into the dim environment of the Lower Hive, which meant they were prey that had entered his own territory; he had plenty of time to play slowly with this false king.

"You useless trash, follow me."

Having repelled the enemy's attack, Muluoze's confidence soared, and he strode forward to lead the guard team to continue the attack.

In the following hour, the King defeated the enemy time and time again, and his confidence grew stronger.

"Sure enough, no one can resist the wise and martial King Muluoze."

The "Sleepless" watched as the guards around the prey became fewer and fewer, and under his orders, the legs of the Precision Power Armor were focused on, and several cracks had already appeared on them.

The "Sleepless" raised the Jiguangchangqiang in his hand; the Darkness did not weaken his vision, and he pulled the trigger, hitting the crack exposed at the gap in the false king's right calf precisely.

With a bang, Muluoze stumbled and fell to the ground.

In extreme pain, he clutched his leg and wailed miserably.

Bukayo, having lost one hundred and four Warriors, launched an attack on the Upper Hive after a recruitment in the Lower Hive; he wanted to offer the Naliyangmaer Chaodu to Ninglu.

Ninglu, who had led the First Regiment to conquer two Hive Cities, unexpectedly received a communication message from Bukayo; his regiment had occupied the northernmost Naliyangmaer Chaodu.

Ninglu therefore left the replacements for the First Regiment and led Malena and the others to Naryan-Mar.

He saw that the Third Regiment consisted entirely of youths and was somewhat surprised that Bukayo had actually led them to capture a Hive City.

After listening to Bukayo's briefing, Ninglu realized that the youths had used harassment, luring the enemy, and guerrilla tactics to take this Hive City, and he could not help but offer praise.

"A fine application of tactics," the Primarch thought of even more, "your selection method can also be promoted."

"Those Lower Hive gang members who are unwilling to be workers can participate in the selection, with the events conducted according to the needs of each regiment."

"My Lord is wise."

After Bukayo praised Ninglu, he continued to speak.

"My Lord, I still have a gift to offer you!"
