Chapter 65: The Pride of Vostonia

~8 min read 1,522 words

While boarding the shuttle and heading toward the new vessel, Ninglu received the ship's specifications from Woyiqiehe.

Dimensions: 5.2 kilometers long, 1.04 kilometers wide.

Mass: 33.11 million tons.

Crew: Approximately 105,000.

Acceleration: Maximum sustainable 2.3G.

After the shuttle docked, Ninglu stepped off, with Wojciech Berek leading the way.

"My King, the interior of this ship is divided into five zones from bottom to top, each with a different number of decks and layers."

"Unlike other ships, as you commanded, the Mag-trans tracks have been fully installed."

"There are two trains in total; one is responsible for transporting cargo and crew, and the other for transporting officers."

He did not mention the bottom decks, starting his introduction directly from the lower decks.

"The lower decks are mainly composed of storage rooms such as fuel storage, and the quarters for the regular crew are also in this area."

"The middle decks have four Casting Decks capable of manufacturing laser guns and repairing armored vehicles; the technical workers, enforcers, and soldiers of various regiments all reside on this level."

"The upper decks are the quarters for high-ranking officers, officials, and your attendants; the Mag-trans will not enter this level to disturb their work and rest."

As they spoke, the group had arrived at the highest point of the warship, where one side was a massive observation window looking out at the docked ships.

"The public area on the top floor is the Bridge; this is the Strategy Room, where officers relay your commands to every part of this ship."

In the center of the Strategy Room was a massive tactical table, with complex circuits and sensors embedded beneath it.

"Once the Auspex is activated, it will display the captured situation of ships and the battlefield on the one hundred and fifty-four screens on both sides."

"At the same time, a holographic projection will appear above the tactical table."

Subsequently, he walked toward the Black Throne opposite the observation window, which matched the massive physique of a Primarch.

"My King, this is your throne; please take your seat and issue your commands."

Ninglu's brain raced; by the time he reached the throne, he had already finalized his arrangements, and after sitting down, he issued orders directly to the people before him.

"Woyiqiehe, organize the members of the other ships to board immediately."

"Bukayo, have your regiments board at once."

"..."

Finally, he stated the composition of the fleet for this Warp voyage, which he had already decided upon.

"In addition to the flagship, the Frigate Piszczek and the Destroyers Termalika and Vistula will also join this exploration expedition fleet."

It was not that Ninglu had not considered building a powerful fleet, but the reality of the situation forced him to keep this expedition fleet to the minimum scale.

During the long "Age of Strife," the raging Warp Storms made Navigators capable of guiding Warp travel safely extinct; Vostonia did not have any, and even powerful forces like the Adeptus Mechanicus did not either.

One of the major reasons the Emperor could persuade Mars to join the Imperium was that he had re-cultivated Navigators and also trained Astropaths for inter-system communication.

Ninglu was currently only a Sequence 8 "Barbarian" and lacked the ability to establish new navigation rules; the larger the fleet, the more dangerous it would be.

However, Battlecruisers were relatively cumbersome, and the fleet had to have flexible warships like Frigates and Destroyers.

After everyone received their orders, Bukayo reminded him.

"My Lord, you should name this warship."

"Hmm," Ninglu pondered for a second before saying, "This ship is Vostonia's first Battlecruiser; it is our pride, so let it be called Wosituoniya zhi Ao."

"A poetic name," said the "Midnight Poet" Bukayo, "I can feel a mountain of steel standing proudly, floating in the void."

"You are the pride of Vostonia,

A towering mountain,

Standing beneath the Veil of starlight,

Shimmering with brilliant light.

Your keel,

Is the steel spine of Vostonia,

Your cannon fire,

Is the destructive flame of Vostonia."

Woyiqiehe drew the most excellent crew members from the various ships not included in the expedition fleet, ensuring they had enough crew to return.

Subsequently, the ships sailed toward the Cradle of the Sea, with the crew familiarizing themselves with the vessels during the voyage.

At the Cradle of the Sea, five regiments joined the fleet, one of which boarded the Piszczek, while another regiment boarded the Termalika and Vistula respectively.

Also joining the fleet were Malena Skala and her attendants.

Ninglu sat on the throne and asked Malena.

"Are you confident?"

Psykers could also guide ships through Warp travel by relying on their understanding of the Sea of Souls; of course, they were not as professional as Navigators, but it was better than nothing.

As a divination-type Psyker, Malena was the most suitable among all types.

Of course, this was the optimal arrangement given that the daemon-type, which specifically studied the Warp, had not yet emerged, and as a Primarch, he personally had no time for such research.

For several years, Ninglu had focused on developing Vostonia and researching his most gifted Mind-type psychic powers.

"By studying the knowledge and experiences of Ether travel from the Fulao Data Crystal, combined with the backed-up Adeptus Mechanicus Star Map, I have gained some insights."

"Although there are risks, I have the ability to complete the Ether travel."

Ninglu felt Malena's confidence and said with a smile.

"You are not alone; if you encounter danger, I will establish a Mind link with you to help you escape the predicament."

"Then I have even fewer concerns."

Malena said with a smile; she trusted Ninglu.

"Go to room A-001 on the upper deck; once you have recovered through Meditation, we shall begin."

When designing the ship, Ninglu considered the future addition of an Astropath and a Navigator after their return, so he reserved two vacant chambers; the smaller A-001 would be the future Daohangzhe Shengsuo.

One ship-standard hour later, Ninglu took the elevator down to room A-001 on the upper deck.

Afterward, he pulled Malena, the Yinjing Farseer responsible for the Warp Engine, and the helmsman in charge of the sailors into the same communication channel.

"Before we begin, I want to know about your Warp vision; the Fulao call it an Ether vision, and I believe you should have already found it."

A Yajian Yixiang is the way a psion perceives the Warp; after finding it, a psion can channel energy from the Sea of Souls more smoothly and with higher efficiency.

Malena's tea-brown eyes were deep as memories flooded her mind.

"When I was three years old, while playing by the sea, I was attacked by a rodent-octopus the size of a wooden boat."

"The instant before the attack, I foresaw it, and I rolled to dodge the strike."

"Its tentacles reached for me again, and when I felt Fear, I instinctively raised my hand to block it; the power that erupted tore it to shreds."

A trace of terror appeared on her face as she recalled the event with dread.

"I waited for a while, discovering I hadn't died, but then my body began to mutate uncontrollably; one moment my arms would thicken, the next my legs would thin."

"Later, I learned that this was a manifestation of Biochemical Psionic, and that I had the highest talent in this area."

"I fell into the cold seawater in Fear, and when I woke up, I found I had returned to normal."

Malena pulled herself out of the memory and continued.

"When I saw the Fulao explanation of the Ether vision, I immediately thought of the seawater."

"I think this is because I grew up on an ocean world, combined with the experience of surviving my psionic awakening."

"After all, judging by Fulao knowledge, I am a lucky one; even without anyone to teach me, I survived my psionic awakening."

Her eyes were profound: "To me, the Warp is the Vast Ocean."

"The world of Ether is an ocean to me; when I use my psionic powers, it is like drawing seawater."

"When searching for a destination according to the Star Map, it is like looking for an island in the ocean."

Ninglu nodded; from Malena's experience, he already understood the female psion's perception of the Warp.

"Our target is the system marked as A-068 on the Star Map; let us begin."

Let me explain for those who don't know about Yajian Yixiang, but anyone who has played "War Hammer 40K: Rogue Trader" (Idira is a door, the pictures Cassia sees, the Lord Regent is a black forest) or read the official novels, especially the Thousand Sons line (Ahriman's Yajian Yixiang is the Vast Ocean), will know what I am talking about.

Additionally, imagine what the Warp is to you; that is what it will be like when you use psionic powers or fall into the Warp.

If you think it is a cesspit, when you enter the Warp, you will feel like you have fallen into a pile of foul-smelling excrement, and using psionic powers will be like drinking sewage.
