Chapter 69: The Dual-Element Psionic
Just as Bukayo was about to raise his gun to fire at the scorpion-shaped Monster, he saw it torn into fragments with a loud explosion.
He turned his head and saw Malena, dressed in a long black gown and holding a staff, walking over through the crowd.
After nodding to Malena in greeting, he turned his head back to continue his attack.
Just as Malena reached the front of the Third Regiment, a scene suddenly flashed through her mind: a bat-shaped Monster with six tender tentacles growing from its back was lunging rapidly toward the top of her head.
There was no time to use an Ether Spell, but the Cultivator did not panic; she slammed her arm upward, throwing a punch.
The force of the punch broke through the air, striking the bat-shaped Monster in the abdomen.
Possessing great strength, the Cultivator sent the bat-shaped Monster flying with a single punch using only her physical power.
The bat-shaped Monster spun and slammed into the crystal ceiling, its corpse falling into the swarm of Monsters.
Malena raised her staff to face the tide of Monsters surging toward them.
The Monsters' bodies immediately began to tremble and swell; they felt an uncontrollable energy erupting within them.
Bang, bang, bang...
Like balloons constantly bursting, dozens of Monsters in the front rows were blown into fragments in an instant.
Just as Malena arrived in time to slaughter the Monsters using Biochemical Psionic, Ninglu also sent all the light sculptures back to the Kingdom of Disorder.
Still having received no news, he realized that Bukayo and Malena must have encountered trouble.
Ninglu immediately sent a message to Juerjuer: "Assemble the Eighth Regiment and follow me to the surface."
As he boarded the barge and flew toward the surface, Malena and Bukayo's expressions changed simultaneously inside the Crystal Mountain.
They both felt a sound like a tsunami coming from ahead.
They knew that countless times more Monsters than before were surging toward them frantically.
The two then saw a figure within the swarm of Monsters.
He was wearing a long gray robe and holding a Crystal Staff in his right hand.
Malena also noticed that the man was holding a six-sided prism in his left hand, which was flashing with blinding Ether light.
If the crystals on the surrounding cave walls were seen as points of light, the one in his hand was like a blinding Lumen Lamp.
Malena realized that the crystal was the rare Ether Crystal recorded by the Fulao people, a precious material that could be used to craft items like staves.
The other crystals around them could only be counted as Ether Sensitive Material, usable only for making some ornaments.
Immediately, her attention was drawn to the gray-robed man.
It was as if an invisible protective shield enveloped him; the Monsters lunged at him time and again, only to be repelled.
Every time he shook his staff, several Monsters would ignite into a large burst of flame.
【He is a powerful psionic, Fire Element Attack, Psychokinetic Defense.】
Malena pondered for a moment and said to Bukayo.
"I think the crystal he is holding is what attracted the Monsters."
"He has a field defense; it will be difficult to knock the crystal away."
Bukayo frowned slightly; he discovered that the surging swarm of Monsters was unusually frantic.
They, who would previously dodge attacks, were now charging directly into the flames.
【The Monsters have gone mad; even if the psionic in front is killed, they will not stop.】
Thinking of this, he understood what Malena meant.
"Then we can only cooperate with him and retreat together; I hope he is smart enough."
The gray-robed psionic also noticed the team behind him at this moment; he gripped the Psionic Crystal tightly in his left hand, channeled Ether Energy, and then raised his staff high.
With him as the center, a Flame Vortex appeared out of thin air and swept toward the surroundings.
The Monsters caught in the sea of fire let out miserable cries, and the gray-robed man took the opportunity to rush out.
His thoughts were the same as Malena and Bukayo's: only by joining forces could they escape.
He stood between the two, in a forward position, taking the initiative to bear the frontal impact of the Monsters.
The team fought while retreating, but the Monsters seemed endless; Malena's psionic energy was depleting rapidly, and she felt her temples buzzing.
The knowledge she had learned from the Fulao people's Data Crystal reminded her that this was a sign of approaching her own limit in channeling Ether Energy.
If she continued to use psionic energy, she would either collapse from exhaustion or lose control, her soul becoming lost in the Vast Ocean.
Just then, Malena heard a familiar voice ring out from behind.
"Move aside."
Malena and Bukayo's spirits lifted in unison; they knew Ninglu had arrived.
They immediately scattered to both sides, leaning against the walls.
The gray-robed psionic did not understand Vostonia; he only heard a deep, resonant voice ring out behind him.
The next instant, he heard a loud explosion, and then felt a strong wind sweep past his left side.
His Field Shield wavered, then shattered with a bang; thrown to the right, he braced himself with his staff and watched in Shock as a giant slaughtered his way into the swarm of Monsters.
The giant's speed was like lightning, so fast that his eyes could barely keep up; he could only see the Monsters falling in droves.
Just as he regained his senses, the giant had already walked back.
The giant's footsteps seemed to tread upon his very soul, and sweat seeped from his forehead.
Ninglu stared in surprise at the silver-haired psionic; the other party's long, narrow blue eyes did not evade him.
【Good willpower, weaker than Malena, stronger than the others.】
He spoke in the local language of the Crystal Illusion.
"What is your name?"
"My name is Arsena Dunn, and you are?"
Arsena subconsciously used an honorific to address the giant before him.
"Ninglu is the monarch of Vostonia."
Ninglu's black eyes swept across the Psionic Crystal.
"I believe you should know what lies at the end of this passage?"
"Greetings, monarch from afar."
Arsena bowed slightly, then spoke.
"At the end of the passage lies an evil kingdom that worships the Heart Eater."
"Those ignorant and fallen people call the Heart Eater a god, but I think if he truly exists, he is nothing but an evil specter."
"They erected a statue to the Heart Eater and built an evil Altar, offering sacrifices to him every six days, six months, and six years."
"They call themselves the Heart Eater, and for thousands of years, they have become increasingly different from other tribes."
The silver-haired psyker said, raising the Psionic Crystal in their hand.
"I wanted to know if the Heart Eater truly exists and is luring them into depravity."
"So I infiltrated the Altar and obtained this crystal."
Ninglu's black eyes were deep as he stared at the Psionic Crystal for several seconds, purple light flowing faintly upon it.
He gazed at it, able to sense the faint, mournful cries of pain contained within.
【It seems that because of the sacrifices, a Slaanesh daemon has seeped its power into it, but it is very weak after breaking through the Veil.
Even psykers would find it hard to detect, and even someone holding it like Arsena would not be affected, as it will dissipate after a few days.】
"I intend to annihilate this kingdom that worships heresy; are you willing to lead the way?"
"The Heart Eater has sixty thousand people and also keeps tens of thousands of Monsters in captivity, just like the ones you saw earlier."
"No matter," Ninglu said confidently, "you need only lead the way."
Arsena's gaze swept over the people in the passage, roughly estimating their numbers to be in the thousands.
If someone had told them before that they could attack the Heart Eater with only a few thousand men, they would have thought that person was insane.
But having witnessed Ninglu's terrifying combat power, they could not help but subconsciously feel that the giant could do it.
While Arsena was stunned, Ninglu issued his orders directly.
"Malena and Bukayo, you are to return to the warship to rest."
"The Third Regiment will remain to guard the Wosituoniya zhi Ao, and each of the other three warships will leave one company behind."
"The remaining troops will launch attacks from different directions after landing."
After Malena and the others acknowledged the order and returned, Ninglu said to Arsena.
"Lead the way."
"Very well."
Arsena had already decided to guide them; even if they could not wipe out the Heart Eater tribe, at the very least, Ninglu's combat power would allow them to fight their way back out.
Ninglu followed behind Arsena, clearly perceiving that they passed through six forks in the road from the mountain peak to the mountain's interior.
At each fork, only one path was the correct one.
This was a test of the senses.
