Chapter 7: Lawyer

~9 min read 1,667 words

The "Lawyer" has three extraordinary abilities: the first is Spiritual Enhancement, the second is excellent critical logic and the ability derived from it to sift through information and grasp key points.

The third ability, and the core ability of the "Lawyer," is "Extraordinary Eloquence."

It grants extraordinary ability in eloquence and persuasion, and allows one to a certain extent to distort or guide a target's thinking, making them feel close and willing to believe.

As a Primarch, he was destined to conquer Vostonia.

Of course, not all Primarchs were conquering their worlds; even Horus, before awakening his Gene Memory, was just a gang youth and had not unified Kosonia.

After awakening, he returned to the Imperium.

Regardless of the status of other Primarchs, Ninglu had already decided to conquer Vostonia, and if the opportunity arose, he would expand to other planets.

At the same time, he had to climb the Tier path; the first step was to act as a "Lawyer" and digest the Potion.

After drinking the Potion, one does not absorb it entirely; to obtain all the power contained within, one must perform the Acting Method.

When acting, one must start from the name of the Potion, interpret it, and obtain its core symbols and specific imagery.

Ninglu believed that acting as a "Lawyer" did not necessarily mean engaging in the literal profession.

Using rules for profit is acting as a "Lawyer," and if one can find loopholes in the rules and exploit them, the acting effect will be even better.

Whether his interpretation was correct, he would know in time; the digestion of the Acting Method is something an Extraordinary can certainly perceive.

【According to my understanding from my past life, and what I have seen and heard in Teziwoke, the only rule in the Lower Hive is that matters within the Dome are adjudicated by the Arbiter, and there are no rules outside the Dome.】

Thinking of this, Ninglu immediately conceived his next plan of action.

【As before, quickly occupy the factory.

If the Arbiter intervenes, use "Extraordinary Eloquence" to persuade him.】

Thinking of this, he called for Luoersiliefu to ask about the situation in the Hantemanxi Dome.

He set his target as the Dome's largest factory—the Magnieto Steel Mill; all factories within the Dome relied on the steel it produced.

The plasteel composite material produced by Magnieto—Mital Steel—would even flow into the Upper Hive as material for manufacturing Carapace Armor.

Controlling the steel mill was "Iron Fist" Gorsuk, who had over a thousand thugs under his command.

Ninglu also learned the timekeeping method of Teziwoke; a day on Vostonia, like other Hive City worlds, was called a work cycle.

Each work cycle consisted of 33 hours, divided into three shifts: Baini Shift, Curie Shift, and Yekai Shift.

Workers in the Upper Hive followed a strict three-shift rotation.

The working hours of factories in the Lower Hive varied, but were generally longer than those in the Upper Hive.

Ninglu decided to launch the attack at the end of the Yekai Shift; although the workers' hours were irregular, the guards were on a three-shift rotation.

And the last hour before they changed shifts, which was also the moment the star obscured by industrial dust rose, was when they were most lax.

In the second-to-last hour of the Yekai Shift, Ninglu stood on a high platform, tapped his brow twice with his fingers, and looked at the crowd below.

A person's emotional state, or "Astral Body," would have a bit of external manifestation.

An Extraordinary with Spirit Vision could judge the other party's health and emotional state through the different thickness, brightness, and color of their aura.

Previously he had examined his own physical state, but now he was observing the overall emotions of others.

Most psykers also possessed this ability, which the Thousand Sons called Aetheric Sight.

Ninglu scanned the crowd, and unsurprisingly, the main body of everyone's aura was a heavy black; they feared him.

Among them, some, especially Luoersiliefu and others who had eaten good things before, had a hint of pale orange anticipation mixed into their auras.

He tapped his brow twice more, closed his Spirit Vision, and then spoke.

"These past two days you should have understood: do more, get more, but you don't know how much you can get."

"In the past, you followed the boss, fighting and killing, but in the end, you only scraped together some food, and most of the time you were not even full."

"It's different now; as long as you can work, you can eat anything. Today I brought back Giant Rat, and I also brought back Lasvolt."

Ninglu's tone became low, issuing a temptation to the crowd.

"Think about it, take a bite of rat meat, gulp down a mouthful of Lasvolt."

The subordinates were attracted by the scene described by the newly promoted "Lawyer," and corresponding images could not help but appear in their minds; they swallowed their saliva subconsciously.

Luoersiliefu was the first to lift his head, his eyes full of longing.

Influenced by this, the people around him also lifted their heads.

In the end, everyone looked at their boss with a glimmer of hope.

Ninglu raised his hand and waved it forcefully: "Move out!"

"Seize the Magnieto Steel Mill, eat meat and drink!"

Everyone shouted fanatically in response: "Seize the Magnieto Steel Mill, eat meat and drink!"

Seeing that everyone had turned around, Ninglu withdrew his arm and tapped his brow twice.

Sure enough, he discovered that everyone's emotions had changed; the dominant color of their auras had turned into the red of passionate excitement.

One star-hour later, rapid gunfire rang out in the Magnieto Steel Mill.

After Ninglu killed the guard at the entrance, he was the first to rush into the factory, and immediately saw a tall, bearded man on the steel platform staring fixedly at him.

His right sleeve was exposed, and one could see his steel prosthetic limb.

"Ninglu."

Gorsuk's tone was certain; he spat.

"Kid, you were able to kill the 'Vulture,' you certainly have some skill."

"But I am not a piece of trash like the 'Vulture.' Today I will capture you, enjoy myself, and then sell you to the Upper Hive."

The response to him was a beam of light shot his way; Gorsuk saw Ninglu raise his gun and thought to himself that it was bad; he only had time to block his body with his steel right arm.

Amidst a sharp and crisp sizzling sound, a large hole was shot through the steel arm, revealing the copper wires and steel plates inside.

"You brat, you dare to sneak attack."

Gorsuk swung his arm and squeezed hard at the same time; his steel fist rotated and shot toward Ninglu.

Relying on the mechanical arm he purchased at a high price from the Finde Family, he had once ambushed and killed several powerhouses of the Lower Hive.

Gorsuk knew Ninglu's marksmanship was precise, having nearly been shot dead by him just moments ago, so he immediately used the Iron Fist killing move, which he only used when encountering the most formidable enemies.

Ninglu held his gun in his left hand and rapidly drew his Chainsword with his right, starting it with a roar.

The structure of the mechanical construct he had obtained previously surfaced in his mind, and he immediately thrust his sword upward, the blade driving straight into the junction of the mechanical structure's connecting rods and joints.

The transmission device drove the Iron Fist forward, but it was jammed by the Chainsword.

Two high-speed rotating forces, nearly perpendicular in direction, interacted with each other; after a few seconds, the Iron Fist detached from the connecting rod and fell to the ground.

Gorsuk was startled and turned to run.

Just as he took a step, a bright beam of light shot into the back of his head.

After one work cycle, Ninglu took control of the Magnito Steel Mill.

His subordinates increased rather than decreased; after incorporating some of the Iron Fist thugs, his combat personnel numbered nearly six hundred.

Ninglu personally led two hundred of his men into the tunnels to hunt over four hundred Giant Rats, fifty of which were exchanged for over a hundred bottles of Lasvolt.

While the meat broth was simmering, he said to the crowd.

"As I said, everyone who participated in this battle will have enough meat to eat and a cup of wine to drink."

"Those who just joined only get to drink the soup; if you want meat and wine, work harder next time."

He activated his Spirit Vision to observe everyone's aura and found that his original subordinates were all radiating a warm, satisfied orange, their gazes toward him shifting from Fear to awe.

The newly recruited personnel were filled with a mix of Fear, hope, and envy.

Ninglu nodded in satisfaction, feeling his own Spirituality become a bit more lively.

【Role-playing as "Lawyer" successful, Potion partially digested.】

Afterward, he came to the control room, locked the door, and with a thought, black mist rose, his Spirituality lightened, and his "Astral Body" left his physical form, arriving at the "Kingdom of Disorder" in an instant.

The digestion of a Potion involves absorbing the extraordinary characteristics within the Potion, enhancing one's Spirituality and extraordinary abilities.

For example, the digestion of "Lawyer" lies in utilizing rules, especially loopholes in rules. Of course, gaining recognition from others will increase the digestion progress. The Chaos lesser god Maris has an extremely high status and powerful strength. But because his nature is chaotic and he relies on brute force to kill indiscriminately, not involving order or rules, he would never be able to digest the "Lawyer" Potion if he drank it. Conversely, an ordinary lawyer might digest it from the preparation to the conclusion of a major case (planet-level), members of the Adeptus Arbites might take a dozen days, and the Administration Department might take a month or so.
