Chapter 1035: Time Plunder

~12 min read 2,348 words

Five time spells!

Lei En somewhat understands why the God of Magic is reluctant to part with the Moonlight Toad's magic soul; time spells are the rarest and most difficult spells to master, period. The Moonlight Toad not only possesses five time spells, but all have reached the Nine-ring!

Even the God of Magic who has mastered the Wish Spell would not cast all spells through the Wish Spell, as that would permanently drain mana.

Lei En doesn't mind the consumption of soul power, but his Wish Spell is Nine-ring and can only safely simulate spells below Nine-ring.

One must become a Thirty-level Wizard to master the Ten-ring Wish Spell.

At that point, one could freely simulate Nine-ring spells, words become law, but a Thirty-level Wizard is still far away, and Lei En doesn't know how long it will take. So the Moonlight Toad's five time spells are very important to him, able to greatly boost his power.

Time Stop and Time Jump need no further explanation; both I and Reslin have mastered them.

"Time Flashback" is an augmenting spell that lasts up to three days; as long as you cast it on yourself every three days, it can be treated as a constant spell, hanging on you at all times, triggered by a single thought, instantly returning you to a point one to six seconds earlier, selectable within that range.

After the flashback, one's own state also returns to that time point.

The caster's mana, soul power, location, and even injuries all instantly revert to that time point, an effect like Time Reversal but limited to oneself.

This is an excellent defensive measure.

Imagine, when the caster is on the brink of death and triggers Time Flashback, returning to before the fatal blow, effectively gaining an extra life!

Time Flashback can also be used offensively; for example, after casting Time Stop, one can actively trigger Time Flashback at its end, returning six seconds earlier, and immediately cast Time Stop again without waiting the usual thirty-second casting interval.

Of course, Time Flashback itself has a casting interval, and it's very long—a full hour.

That is, only one Time Flashback can be triggered per hour.

But that's already extremely powerful!

Back then at Bruworz Academy, when Lei En faced Elder Inora of Naiser Fu Kong Cheng, he saw her use Time Flashback; although it was only Eight-ring, it was still awe-inspiring.

Unfortunately, because of that quarrel, he killed Inora on the spot, and Lei En later felt embarrassed to ask her about Time Flashback. Those who have mastered this spell are few, no spell model has been passed down, and Reslin still hasn't mastered it.

After I fused the Moonlight Toad's magic soul, Reslin, using element runes, was also able to construct a spell model for Time Flashback.

Next is "Time Acceleration," also extremely rare.

It is also an augmenting spell, but unlike Time Flashback which can only be self-applied, Time Acceleration can be cast on any target.

It makes the recipient's flow of time faster!

Conversely, the world appears slower to the recipient; although their own movement speed hasn't increased, to others the recipient's speed skyrockets, and the higher the "Swift" level, the faster the amplification.

Increased movement speed is just the most obvious effect; Time Acceleration also speeds up casting!

As long as one casts, the speed will increase.

In fact, while under Time Acceleration, everything becomes faster—combat, casting, running, reading, eating—the recipient's time flow diverges from others', racing along the river of time.

Naturally, Time Acceleration also causes faster aging.

However, Time Acceleration's duration is short; Nine-ring Time Acceleration can only last about three minutes, and from others' perception the effect is roughly one minute, or even less.

The last one is "Time Plunder".

Its effect is simple: it forcibly throws a target—whether an object or an enemy—into the river of time, making it reappear after at least one second and at most six seconds.

Time Plunder is similar to Time Jump.

The difference is that Time Plunder's target is others, while Time Jump can only affect oneself.

Time Plunder may seem weak, but against peak warriors above Saint Rank, especially in the caster's battle, its effect is overwhelming.

An enemy whose time is plundered doesn't notice a second—or even longer—loss of lifespan.

In their eyes, the world suddenly changes.

Either the enemy vanishes instantly, unknown where.

Or one finds oneself surrounded, with numerous traps and dangers suddenly appearing.

Or the enemy instantly shifts position and unleashes a super-strong attack that would normally take a long time, leaving no time to react!

Lei En, upon seeing Time Plunder, immediately thought of several applications; six seconds is enough for him to gather all his power and deliver the strongest strike. Moreover, the end of Time Plunder is controllable, allowing seamless continuation of his attack, making it nearly impossible for the enemy to dodge.

Time Jump is also useful.

Reslin has long mastered it, but I haven't; it is the best spell for evading danger.

Each time spell benefits from the "Hourglass of Time" buff—casting is faster, potency stronger, intervals shorter, and it greatly mitigates enemies' time spells. Though not total immunity, when facing terrifying casters like Augulevi Master, one need not be trapped by his "turn-based game".

The Hourglass of Time also carries a "Void Resonance," which amplifies all Arcane besides time spells.

Just the Hourglass of Time and the five time spells make the Moonlight Toad's magic soul already extremely powerful.

And its elements are far more than these.

The Moonlight Toad's size is not huge, only three to four meters from head to tail, so its melee strength is unremarkable, its physical elements are weak; the highest "Strength" is only level ten, "Swift" level nine, and the only thing that catches Lei En's eye is the "Undying Body," which I already possess.

Its power comes almost entirely from casting; over thirty elements are mostly Arcane Elements, mainly a series of Arcane.

Blink, Random Door, Greater Teleport, Astral Leap, Interdimensional Transfer, Plane Jump, etc., are spells for escaping; there are also Arcane Blast, Vector Shield, Mirror Image, Malicious Morph, Astral Projection, Astral Travel, Transposition, Dimensional Anchor and many other spells.

What delighted Lei En was that the Moonlight Toad also mastered "Magic Siphon".

Moreover, it also possesses "Moonlight Domain" and "Starfall," one a protective spell, the other a large-area attack spell, both Nine-ring.

Moonlight Domain, the namesake of the Moonlight Toad, is a tremendously powerful field; within it swirls cold moonlight that dispels all invisibility and camouflage, slows enemies like a fictitious gravity field, and condenses "Moon Fire" to scorch enemies' bodies and souls.

"Starfall" uses the astral realm as a conduit, borrowing energy from the heavens' stars to create a large-area bombardment akin to "Extreme Meteor Burst".

The Moonlight Toad also has some common Arcane that I have already mastered.

"Huh..."

Lei En let out a light breath.

The Moonlight Toad truly lives up to being as rare as the Time Dragon; although its overall strength is far weaker than the Time Dragon, especially in physical quality and melee, the gap with legendary dragons is huge, its spells are nonetheless overwhelmingly powerful.

For Holy Soul Wizards, the Moonlight Toad's value is incalculable.

It can enable a relatively mediocre Holy Soul Wizard to leap to become the world's top spellcaster, even daring to contend with the Empire's three great heads.

Undoubtedly, I must fuse the Moonlight Toad's magic soul and break through to th Level Wizard!

"The Moonlight Toad's magic soul arrives at just the right time."

Lei En's thoughts began to turn.

Today, I eliminated the Fear Demon King and repelled the Lord of the Dark Abyss; the eastern coast of the New Continent now has no enemies, and it will soon be fully reclaimed as my own territory.

The next phase of the plan focuses on the Empire!

It is now August 2544 of the New Era Calendar; once the demons of Yi Ge, Kuiyin and Molangduo are all cleared and the Magic Torch Tower is built, it will be about next year, i. e., 2545, the final year of my Consul term.

This is the most crucial year of the plan, and I have been scheming for over a decade for it!

The God of Magic must have guessed as well.

Next year, the enemies I will face are no longer demons but the Supreme Council, fourteen Holy Soul Wizards and Grand Mages. When they understand my ambition, even among the Mo Du members, how many will support me?

Lei En cannot be certain.

He can only make his strength greater to have a better chance of success.

VijesCui sent the "Moonlight Toad" at this time, causing my strength to surge; it may not be solely to guard against the Lord of the Dark Abyss's attack, but also with next year's matters in mind.

This is tangible support.

It had previously said it would not interfere in mortal Empire affairs, but that has clearly changed. It does not want to see me fail; it hopes my plan succeeds!

Lei En clarified this point and a smile appeared on his face.

The Oriense Empire is the Wizards' Empire, and the God of Magic's support places me on invincible ground.

The other two of the Empire's three gods, the Mother of the Earth and the God of Justice, have little say in the Empire; whether the Empire has an emperor does not affect them much. Whoever rules the Empire will not suppress the Earth Church or the Justice Church.

On the divine level, there is no longer much to worry about.

Lei En is confident he can defeat the entire Supreme Council; the whole plan has only one hidden risk, or rather obstacle, which is Augulevi Master.

Even now, he cannot discern Augulevi Master's attitude.

Support? Or opposition?

Even whether Augulevi Master has guessed my plan is uncertain. The last time the two met face‑to‑face was ten years ago, when Augulevi Master killed one of my wizard clones, and we have not met since.

Augulevi Master's clone, the Black Robe Duke, barely speaks at the Supreme Council.

Lei En considered sending another clone to Yilaientu in the Dark Realm to probe Augulevi Master's attitude, but thinking of the opponent's terrifying state and unstable mind, it might just waste another clone.

If Augulevi Master opposes, it would expose my plan.

The entire plan would be disrupted.

Lei En pondered for a long time without finding a compromise, finally shook his head and muttered softly, "If my strength is sufficient, I won't need your support nor fear your opposition. As long as I can hold you back without interfering with my plan, that will suffice."

He said that, but he had little confidence in his heart.

Augulevi Master's true form is at least Level 40, with many clones, Holy Soul Wizards, Grand Mages and Holy Soul Liches; even a dozen Saint Rank casters appearing would not be surprising.

My clones currently include ten promoted Grand Mages.

If willing, I can add another ten within half a year, doubling the number.

There are also five Holy Soul Wizard clones, including the Subcontinent Governor Magnus, all combat wizards.

Holy Soul Wizards need suitable demon souls to upgrade; once beyond Saint Rank, their upgrade speed slows and they cannot level up as quickly as Grand Mages.

"We must raise more Grand Mages!"

Lei En made up his mind.

Clones can be at most one rank higher than the original, with one extra Soul Transformation, so Reslin and Shengjilesi are stuck at the Level 29 bottleneck.

When I fuse the Moonlight Toad Demon Soul and undergo the eighth Soul Transformation, Reslin and Shengjilesi can break through to above Thirty-level, raising their energy to the Thirty‑four level peak.

At Thirty‑four level, Grand Mage Reslin can attempt to master the Ten‑ring Spell.

Other Grand Mage clones also strive to reach Level 29.

Next year, while I lay my cards on the Supreme Council, a group of Grand Mages led by Reslin will enter the Dark Realm to visit Augulevi Master.

First ceremony, then arms!

If Augulevi Master shows goodwill, that would be best; if he strongly opposes or even shows hostility, then let the spells speak!

A flash of ruthlessness flickered in Lei En's eyes.

He glanced at the Moonlight Toad in his hand, stored the Purple Source Soul Crystal into the Nebula Ring; such an important demon soul must be fully prepared before fusion.

In the following days, Lei En stayed aboard the Luo Sheng Du Star Destroyer, commanding troops to eliminate demons and clear the land of monsters.

Countless souls were harvested and converted into energy.

Each day, Soul Diamonds in the Pixel World increased, and even Lei En could not count how many there were.

Yi Ge, Kuiyin and Molangduo, the demons of these three cities were cleared first; Lei En chose the sites, Thundercast Celestial Soldier built teleportation arrays, transporting massive materials and began constructing the three Magic Torch Towers simultaneously.

A month later, all three towers were completed.

But Lei En did not want to waste the demons' souls and corpses, so he did not install the Iola Core immediately; instead he waited nearly two months, and after the land was essentially cleared, he brought the Iola Core and activated the Magic Torch rune array.

At the end of November 2544 of the New Era Calendar, on the same day, three massive pillars of light shot into the sky, radiating endless magical brilliance.

Thus, the eastern coast of the New Continent was fully reclaimed and brought under Lei En's rule!

When this news spread across both shores of the New Continent and back to the Old Continent, every human nation was thrilled. Countless hearts swelled with excitement, deciding to set sail, hoping to find a chance to change human destiny on this land of rebirth.

And the architect of all this, Lei En, entered the Dark Realm alone the next day, appearing on the ninth floor of the Obsidian Tower.

The Soul Transformation ceremony is ready!
