Chapter 263: Explanation About the Mobile Phone Cheat

Explanation About the Mobile Phone Cheat

The new chapter has been updated.

A few days ago there was a limited free period, and many new readers came.

I saw many comments; because the protagonist's cheat is a Huawei phone discard, people cursed it as trash, saying I support Huawei or whatever, some even spoke very harshly.

I originally wanted to delete those comments, but then thought that would look guilty, so I kept them, though I still need to explain.

This book first has a super‑ordinary profession setting, then a world background, then the protagonist's cheat, and finally the plot.

At first I thought of giving the protagonist a system or a game panel, which would be the simplest and most convenient.

But I have always disliked system prose, because logically it's hard to justify. If such an all‑powerful system existed, there must be an all‑powerful entity behind it, and every action of the protagonist would be under "His" surveillance; the issued quests push the protagonist to act like a marionette.

Few books can finally explain the system's origin, or simply don't explain it at all.

Of course, the system can be seen as the author's avatar, which is convenient to write; to drive the plot you just publish a quest, without thinking too much.

Some authors try to downplay the system so it doesn't steal the spotlight.

Yet no matter how the author downplays its existence, it's like an elephant in the room, a thorn in the eye; every time the system appears in the novel it constantly reminds me: this thing is unreasonable!

If the system could speak, it would be even more jarring.

I'm not saying system prose is always bad; many very good books explode in popularity, making people envious, otherwise they wouldn't have so many readers.

It's just that I can't ignore this "personal poison point," so I miss many good books.

Uh, I seem to have gone off‑topic…

So I didn't write a system; instead I considered giving the protagonist a game panel with simple stats and allocatable points, but it felt not eye‑catching, so I tweaked it slightly and switched to a mobile phone cheat.

Essentially, a mobile phone cheat is not much different from a game panel, but it has other functions and growth potential.

The phone mutated due to transmigration, which can be forced to make sense; it's less glaring than a system and doesn't make people think of a great being behind it, haha…

I originally didn't want to use a phone brand, but later thought a brand would feel more grounded and relatable, so I chose Huawei.

There's no other reason; I have no particular bias or stance—just that Huawei is well‑known and domestic, and both I and the readers are domestic, so a foreign brand would feel inappropriate.

Moreover, I never directly mention the word "Huawei" in the book, and the icon looks different.

I uploaded the new book in October last year; at that time Huawei's reputation had no blemish, the 251 incident hadn't been exposed, so I wrote it casually without much thought.

I'd love to get paid, but Huawei still hasn't sent me any money.

By the way, my phone is an Apple.

I bought the 6S in 2015 and have used it ever since; I feel it can still fight for three more years, haha! The next phone will probably be Huawei.

Also, thank you all for the monthly tickets.

It jumped over a thousand tickets in one day, far exceeding my expectations; it was both a surprise and a shock…

Fortunately I set a ten‑chapter cap, aiming to finish by May; otherwise, with my slow typing speed, I have no idea when I could deliver.

I probably won't make the top five on the fantasy monthly ticket list; it's a pity I won't get the reward, but it doesn't matter—I'll have chances later.

There will be another update before midnight tonight; thank you again.
