Chapter 286: Dragon Taming Expert
Lei En stood up from the Flame Dragon's back, flashed, and landed back onto his plate armor.
"Boss!"
Xikalius said while watching the Flame Dragon flying alongside the airship, his face showing an indescribable envy.
The Makurag barbarian is naturally brave, but he is not good at taming beasts; few in the tribe own mounts, let alone such a powerful flying mount.
He suddenly said, "I recognize this Flame Dragon; a few years ago when I returned to the tribe, it attacked me, and I was almost burned to death by its flame, suffering considerable loss."
"That's right, it's that one," Tai Lien also recalled, exclaiming, "I didn't expect this guy to become the boss's mount."
Lei En raised an eyebrow in surprise.
If Xikalius and Tai Lien are not mistaken, then this area is the Flame Dragon's territory. His mind stirred, and he immediately opened the Book of a Thousand Souls to find information on the Flame Dragon.
Sure enough, Flame Dragons are not solitary species.
Normally, a Flame Dragon's lair houses three to four members, forming an alliance to resist strong foes and sharing a territory, a trait that differs greatly from Red Dragons.
A Pet Taming Master can nurture multiple pets simultaneously, seemingly without a limit!
Lei En felt a surge of excitement, smiled and asked, "Do you want a Flame Dragon mount?"
A group of Extreme Warriors' breathing quickened instantly, their eyes shining at Lei En, nodding repeatedly, and shouted, "Boss, do you have a way?"
"If you know where the Flame Dragon's lair is, perhaps I can meet your expectations," Lei En said, not making a firm promise.
"Boss! I know! I know..."
An Extreme Warrior raised his hand and shouted, "Boss, I once left the tribe to wander the plateau and have been near here; the Flame Dragon's lair is not far north of this spot, we can get there quickly, I can guide the way."
Lei En looked at this Extreme Warrior, recalling his name was Kelonguan.
Kelonguan had just joined as an Extreme Warrior; his original strength was decent, and after becoming his symbiont, he was boosted to the ninth‑level pinnacle.
"Alright, then let's go see their lair," Lei En leapt back onto the Flame Dragon's back, calling out, "Xikalius, Kelonguan, Tai Lien, the three of you follow me; the others wait on the airship."
The Extreme Warriors whose names were not called felt a bit disappointed, but still responded repeatedly with assent.
The three Extreme Warriors excitedly climbed onto the Flame Dragon's back.
The Flame Dragon let out a dissatisfied low growl and shook its head a few times.
Given its size and strength, carrying seven or eight Extreme Warriors at once is no problem, but the space on its back is insufficient; crowding at the edges makes them prone to falling and hampers its flight agility.
Lei En noticed the Flame Dragon's loyalty had dropped to 49 and sighed, "Sure enough, it's a sour temper; loading a few more riders makes it unhappy."
He gave Yisu a slight nod, entrusting him to guard the airship, then ordered the Flame Dragon to fly north.
"Boss, the lair should be in that direction."
Lei En looked along the direction Kelonguan pointed, vaguely seeing a few modest peaks forming a small mountain range.
During the flight, Lei En attempted to designate a Tamer.
He opened the Pet Taming Master's interface; in the upper left of the Flame Dragon's portrait was a Tamer icon. Activating it displayed three candidates.
The three options were Xikalius, Tai Lien, and Kelonguan.
Lei En thought for a moment and understood: these three Extreme Warriors sit on the Flame Dragon's back, have contact with it, so they become candidates for Tamer.
However, he did not decide immediately.
He kept this Flame Dragon for himself for now; if he can tame more Flame Dragons later, he can assign them to the Extreme Warriors.
After flying for over an hour, the small mountain range enlarged before his eyes.
Lei En slowed the Flame Dragon, and after recalling several times, Kelonguan finally pinpointed the lair's location, pointing to the midsection of one peak; from afar he saw a broad cliff, and atop its sheer face a massive open‑air nest.
The nest, built from scattered stones, was crude—neither wind‑proof nor rain‑proof; the surrounding ground was charred, vegetation burned to ash, utterly barren. Its only advantage was the open view, allowing sight of the vast plateau below the peaks, so any invading enemy could be swooped down on instantly.
At that moment, a Flame Dragon lay lazily inside the nest, as if just having eaten.
Lei En scanned the area and saw no other Flame Dragons, unsure whether they were out or the nest housed only two dragons.
He immediately ordered the Flame Dragon to land, disembarked the three Extreme Warriors, then cast invisibility on himself.
The Flame Dragon took off again.
Just as they approached the nest, that Flame Dragon spotted it from afar, looked up and continued descending, not noticing Lei En's presence.
Hoo, hoo, hoo...
The Flame Dragon slowed, slipped into the nest, its wings braced on the ground as it crawled toward its companion.
Lei En observed with his Soul Eye; this Flame Dragon's body was slightly smaller, about eleven meters, already adult but younger; the Element in its soul was similar, so overall strength was a bit weaker, but not by much.
It did not notice any abnormality in the newly returned Flame Dragon.
Roar!
With a bellow, the already‑tamed Flame Dragon suddenly attacked, lunging at the younger one; caught off guard, it was bitten several times, sustaining multiple wounds.
The young Flame Dragon, unwilling to be weak, let the injury fuel its ferocity, launching a frenzied counterattack.
Invisible Lei En slipped to the side, watching the dragon duel from the hillside.
The ground trembled, and the nest was quickly destroyed.
The two massive Flame Dragons tore at each other for minutes, both covered in scars; their flame resistance was high, so they did not spew fire, relying purely on brute force. The tamed Flame Dragon, being older and larger, held a strength edge and gradually overpowered its opponent.
Seeing the situation level out, Lei En finally flashed over, brandishing his war hammer.
The young Flame Dragon's eyes showed terror, yet it was firmly clamped by its companion, unable to escape, watching helplessly as it was hammered.
Bang bang!
Lei En knocked it out with just two hammer blows.
The Flame Dragon opened its jaws, released it, and silently crawled aside to lick its wounds; its loyalty fell again to 45, showing some resistance.
But now was not the time to soothe it.
Lei En immediately began taming, consuming power to gather red‑white orbs, and pressed them into the stunned Flame Dragon's head.
First attempt, failure.
Second attempt, failure.
Third time...
Lei En has already become accustomed to his black face; each failure is followed by starting the next attempt, and to his surprise his luck was good—he succeeded on the fifth try!
The Flame Dragon was enveloped in white light, and a minute later was drawn into the taming space.
On the Pet‑Taming Master's interface, an image of a second Flying Dragon appeared, also with a loyalty of 50.
Lei En didn't have time to rejoice before a roar came from afar; turning his head, a fiery red figure flew toward the nest.
"Another one!"
The Flame Dragon's claws gripped a massive bison, clearly its prey, for some reason brought back to the nest.
Lei En was overjoyed, immediately released the newly‑tamed Flame Dragon, and then hid himself.
Half a minute later, a third Flame Dragon fell into the nest.
It hadn't even steadied itself when its two companions swarmed it, and it was quickly beaten into helplessness; Lei En easily took the chance to knock it unconscious.
This taming was even easier; it succeeded after only three attempts.
"Not bad!"
Lei En looked at the three Flame Dragons with a satisfied smile, "That black‑face incident was just an accident; actually I still have the Euro‑Emperor bloodline, hehe…"
"I wonder if there's a fourth one?"
He took out several Healing Technique scrolls to treat their wounds; this action raised their loyalty, and aside from the first Flame Dragon, all surpassed 50, entering the safe range.
After patiently waiting for a long time, the sun had shifted westward.
Lei En thought the nest held only three Flame Dragons, and as he was about to leave, another one appeared. Taming the fourth Flame Dragon was also easy; it was done in under ten minutes.
Then he waited another two‑plus hours, and darkness fell.
"There should be only four Flying Dragons in this nest," Lei En emerged from his hiding spot, looking at the four Flame Dragons. They clearly shared blood ties—two males and two females; the two younger Flame Dragons were slightly weaker, being offspring of the two older ones, forming a complete dragon family.
"A family should be all together!"
Lei En nodded with satisfaction, leapt onto the back of one Flame Dragon, let out a whistle, and the four Flying Dragons took off together at once.
The dragon he rode was in the middle, while the other three positioned on the sides and behind, like the most loyal guards.
A few rumbling sounds.
The four Flying Dragons landed, and Xikaliusi, Tailien, and Kelu Nuan sprang out from behind the hidden rocks, gathering around excitedly, eyes shining, eager to climb onto the dragons' backs at once.
They originally thought Lei En was just joking, never expecting that he truly tamed several Flying Dragons.
This is a miracle!
Is there any dragon‑taming Master in the world more powerful than the boss?
They don't know how Lei En did it, nor do they wish to investigate; now their minds are filled only with the thought of having a flying mount themselves!
"Boss!" Xikaliusi cried eagerly.
"Ha ha, each of you pick one," Lei En said with a smile. "Once you've chosen, press your hand on its head, and I'll help you sign the contract."
