Chapter 294: Shout of Victory
Outside Astat City, the duel continues.
On the four walls inside the city, Makurak people stood everywhere, each staring fixedly at the two combatants, occasionally letting out a gasp or shouting to cheer the chieftain.
Clang!
Clang!
The warhammer and greatsword clash, their booming roar carrying far, even the lofty war drums cannot drown it out.
From the scene, Lei En and Ma Lius appear evenly matched, hard to determine a winner.
The Makurak never imagined a human could fight the invincible chieftain so evenly; regardless of size or age, this human from the Empire looks nothing like a rival to the chieftain, and he is so young.
But the facts before their eyes leave no doubt.
Makurak barbarians are a martial race, naturally worshipping the strong; gradually, some began to sporadically shout Lei En's name.
Outside the duel arena are high‑ranking barbarians within the tribe, as well as Extreme Warriors already following Lei En.
Their eyesight surpasses ordinary tribe members, watching the duel while clenching cold sweat.
This "Mackgora" duel is the most perilous battle they have ever seen; Lei En and Ma Lius each strike with terrifying power.
If they were to step in, they'd likely not even withstand a sword or a hammer.
Ma Lius's combat skill has reached its peak; his swordsmanship is plain yet unadorned, and he perfectly employs various Element combat techniques to unleash maximum power.
Lei En's combat Element is almost nonexistent, but his strength is slightly superior; relying on faster reaction and speed, and an indestructible defense, he withstood Ma Lius's storm‑like greatsword onslaught, and the warhammer in his hand roared like thunder when swung.
Each sword‑hammer clash creates a terrifying roar.
The air bursts, the ground trembles.
If blindfolded, one would think two massive beasts are fighting to the death.
Within the duel arena two hundred paces in diameter, the ground is riddled with pits, as if a legendary Wizard had bombarded it with flame‑burst technique; few spots are even.
Bang!
Lei En's hammer struck Ma Lius's shoulder as if hitting thick leather; the warhammer rebounded, the imprint first turned white then swelled, the surface skin cracked and bled, appearing minor, yet the underlying muscle was severely damaged.
Ma Lius's expression remained unchanged, as if the blow had not struck his own body.
His greatsword also slashed Lei En's waist, employing "Power Burst", tripling its force, sparks flying, laboriously cutting through steel‑like skin, leaving a wound half a palm deep.
Before he could inflict more damage, Lei En brushed him aside, creating distance.
"Huff, huff…"
Ma Lius tried to chase, but his body suddenly obeyed not, stalled, standing in place gasping heavily.
On his body, similar hammer wounds numbered seven or eight, gruesome beyond description.
In contrast, Lei En, dozens of steps away, saw the sword wound at his waist heal rapidly, whole again within two or three seconds.
Ma Lius inhaled deeply, sensing something amiss.
In the first clash, he recognized Lei En's steel body, yet Lei En's regenerative ability was even more terrifying than the steel body.
Ma Lius also possesses "Self‑Healing" and "Rapid Recovery"; years of training let ordinary injuries mend quickly, but compared to Lei En's healing speed, it is far too slow.
"Could it be the legendary Element 'Undying Body'?"
Ma Lius was not sure.
He had been numbed by Lei En's power; Xikarius had often said Lei En is a student of a Holy Soul Wizard, himself a Combat Wizard, how could he possess a physique Element stronger than a legendary warrior's?
Strong strength, swift speed, high defense!
Is this a Combat Wizard?
Ma Lius clearly understood Lei En's plan: to trade wounds for wounds, draining his own stamina.
Unless he can fell Lei En with a single strike, this is an unsolvable problem.
Thinking this, Ma Lius's mindset wavered.
Instantly his momentum waned.
Ma Lius has "Pain Ignorance" and "Unyielding Willpower", two Elements that complement each other, allowing him to firm his own will, face any opponent without fear, and even with severe injuries maintain peak power as if uninjured, until he finally collapses.
However, once self‑doubt arises and the mind falters, the effect of Unyielding Willpower disappears.
Tidal waves of excruciating pain surged from every part of his body; Ma Lius involuntarily let out a low groan, clenched his teeth, steadied his mind, and re‑ignited Unyielding Willpower.
The dazed state lasted only about half a second.
Lei En, however, keenly seized the chance, lunging forward, ignoring Ma Lius's greatsword slash, the warhammer heading straight for his head.
The wind pressure on the warhammer deformed Ma Lius's face.
His gaze shifted dramatically; if this hammer struck, even without the skull exploding, he would be knocked unconscious.
The Mackgora duel never concerns life or death; they fight with their lives. If his head were smashed by Lei En's hammer, it would still be an honorable victory, and no Makurak would blame Lei En.
"Ah!"
In crisis, Ma Lius let out a roar, only able to trigger Blood Frenzy.
His body instantly swelled, rising from about 2.5 m to roughly 2.8 m, his chest becoming like a wall, muscles seeming ready to explode, and his defense surged.
Bang!
Lei En's warhammer missed the head, striking Ma Lius's chest; the recoil through the hammer's shaft numbed his hands.
Level‑7 "Toughness" defense, though far inferior to a steel body, has advanced into a supreme Element, capable of partially reflecting physical attacks.
Ma Lius's greatsword swept across.
With a crack, Lei En was solidly cut, his whole body soaring and landing on the arena's edge, just a few steps from falling out.
He rolled and stood, a horrific sword wound stretching from his left shoulder to his waist, deep enough to expose bone and even organs.
His steel‑hardened muscles writhed rapidly, repairing the wound, taking at least a dozen seconds to heal.
That slash almost cost him half a life, yet Lei En was pleased.
Ma Lius was forced to activate Blood Frenzy; although his strength and defense surged and speed rose slightly for a short time, it was still insufficient to catch up or gain overwhelming advantage to secure victory.
All he has to do is stall until the frenzy ends, and Ma Liwu Si falls into a weakened state; then he wins.
Ma Liwu Si also knows this, so he hasn't entered a frenzy yet.
He tries to seize the last hope, desperately attacking Lei En; his great sword emits terrifying energy blades, releasing Reverse Slash, Whirlwind Slash, Angry Strike, and a series of Triple Strike in rotation, even consuming stamina many times over, activating "Battle Frenzy" to boost his power again.
But however strong his power or how many techniques he has, if he can't hit the target, it's all in vain.
Lei En never intended to stand his ground; he focused on dodging.
The duel arena spans only two hundred steps, but that's already large enough for him; his Soul Eye locks onto Ma Liwu Si, and whenever he uses an Element, Lei En can anticipate it half a step ahead and easily evade.
Ma Liwu Si's frantic pursuit only inflicted a few minor wounds on Lei En, none of which were fatal.
With each passing minute, Lei En gets one step closer to victory.
After nearly twenty minutes, Ma Liwu Si's speed gradually slows, his dwarf‑like body shrinking, his strength waning, and a wave of weakness engulfs him.
"There's nothing I can do."
Ma Liwu Si lets out a sigh, realizing he no longer has the power to turn the tide.
He doesn't wait for Lei En's counterattack, throws his great sword aside, and under the gaze of the watching Ma Ku La Ge, his towering frame half‑kneels toward Lei En, both hands resting on his knees, bowing his proud head.
"I concede."
Ma Liwu Si voluntarily concedes; his voice echoes throughout A Si Ta Te, both inside and out, so everyone hears it clearly.
All the Ma Ku La Ge people are stunned.
The vast A Si Ta Te falls into silence; even the drums cease, leaving only the whistling cold wind over the plateau.
Some Ma Ku La Ge cover their faces and sob quietly, unable to believe the outcome; the once invincible clan chief actually lost in the Ma Ke La Ge!
Lei En is also a bit surprised.
But what surprises him is not his own victory, but Ma Liwu Si's swift concession, which earns him respect for the clan chief.
Sometimes, only those who can acknowledge their defeat and afford to lose are true heroes!
Lei En calms himself and raises his war hammer high.
It is the posture of a victor.
Gradually, led by the Extreme Warriors, A Si Ta Te erupts in shouts. At first the roar is low, then it rises, growing louder and louder:
"Lei En!"
"Lei En!"
"Lei En…"
Boom, Boom, Boom... The war drums outside the duel arena thunder in unison, their rhythm fierce, and thousands of Ma Ku La Ge, men, women, young and old alike, shout Lei En's name with all their might, echoing across the plateau sky.
