Chapter 525: Divine Radiance's Celestial Campaign
Holy light above!
Dejiko couldn't help murmuring.
He had heard of Lei En's deeds from Ha Bu; the young Empire hero's strength was extraordinarily overwhelming, and even before attaining legend he could defeat the Death Knight of the Legendary Peak. After entering legend, he even slew a king of the Legendary Peak, and was spread as the invincible under the Holy Soul.
These past few days of contact, though they hadn't sparred, still let them feel Lei En's great power.
However, seeing Lei En act with his own eyes, Dejiko finally understood what "invincible under the Holy Soul" truly meant!
The defense of this legendary holy beetle was so formidable that, if it were oneself, it would take at least a minute or two of fighting to take down, yet Lei En smashed it with a single hammer blow.
Lei En descended, stepped on the corpse of the legendary holy beetle, and used a soul stone to capture its demon soul.
The demon souls of the other holy beetles couldn't be captured in time, so they were all absorbed.
He glanced at the sky; more holy beetles swarmed, instantly refilling the area cleared of lightning, and a cloud of beetles rolled in like a blanket.
"Chief, sir," Lei En shouted.
Dejiko only then snapped back to attention, hearing Lei En say, "I'll draw them in and eliminate them with an area spell; please stay farther away and take care of yourself."
A portal opened before them.
Dejiko rushed in without hesitation, emerging on the side a hundred meters away, at the edge of the beetle cloud where the numbers were sparser. A dozen holy beetles surrounded, and a Minotaur stomped the ground, its hooves spitting a ring of golden flame outward.
Centered on him, the sand within ten meters seemed to melt.
The blazing "Bright Holy Fire" rose, and a few holy beetles flying a bit lower were instantly burned through their shells and fell.
At the same time, the great shield in his hand, infused with holy light, was hurled, striking a holy beetle and shattering it, then rebounding onto another holy beetle.
The shield bounced back and forth four or five times; each rebound killed a holy beetle. Finally it ricocheted back to Dejiko's hand, which they caught, then delivered a fierce shield strike, crushing the beetle that flew before them. They swung the hammer in their right hand, and holy light erupted into a violent storm, tearing the remaining holy beetles into fragments.
That series of actions eliminated a dozen holy beetles, and Dejiko emerged completely unscathed.
Taking advantage of the combat lull, they turned their head toward Lei En.
Because Lei En stood on the corpse of the legendary holy beetle, he was highly conspicuous, instantly drawing the attention of the vast majority of holy beetles, which swarmed around him like a tide.
In just a few seconds, Lei En's figure was engulfed by hundreds of holy beetles, completely invisible.
Just as Dejiko was worrying, a harsh blast roar was heard.
Boom!
The sound was like a massive hanging metal plate being struck hard, the resulting sound wave shaking the air, the echo rapid and continuous, causing the space itself to tremble, forming an explosive-like shockwave.
The densely packed beetle swarm was instantly blown apart.
Lei En's figure reappeared; he held his war hammer, hovering midair, with not a single wound on his body.
He clenched his left fist, generating a magical shockburst at his core; the invisible force pulverized the nearest holy beetle into dust, the slightly farther ones into fragments, and those a bit farther still had their shells shattered, flinging them hundreds of meters as if struck by a gale.
A few holy beetles could release holy light spells to attack, but they were pushed away by the force field as soon as they approached.
The fierce shockwave even blasted the corpse of the legendary holy beetle, creating a several‑meter‑wide crater in the desert, with sand at the rim radiating outward.
Six‑Ring Spell Magic Burst Force Field!
The spell's effective lethal radius is thirty meters; a single shockburst kills over a hundred holy beetles.
However, the swarm only stalled for an instant before surging forward again. Their intelligence was too low; once provoked, they felt no fear at all.
Lei En hovered midair, motionless.
When another batch of holy beetles flew around to encircle him, he immediately cast another Magic Burst Force Field.
Boom!
Amid the blast roar, no holy beetle within thirty meters escaped, all exploding into fragments.
Holy beetles outside the Magic Burst Force Field's range were also knocked back, dazedly landing, then struggling to fly up again toward the enemy, showing no sign of retreat.
Lei En originally intended to show mercy; many of these holy beetles contained Mid-stage demon souls, which he didn't want to waste.
But the situation wouldn't allow him to hold back.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom…
The Magic Burst Force Field was cast extremely quickly, with a very short interval; although it consumed a lot of spiritual power, Lei En now had no shortage, releasing it continuously at a three‑second cadence, timing it precisely, so that no matter how many holy beetles swarmed, they were instantly blown away.
Not a single holy beetle could even touch Lei En's hem.
This still wasn't the Magic Burst Force Field's highest frequency; if one spared no spiritual power and one's own soul could endure high‑frequency vibrations, a shockwave could be generated every second, repelling attacks and spells while inflicting damage and repulsion, leaving enemies below the Legendary Peak no chance to get close.
At this point, the Extreme Warrior and the Minotaur also withdrew to a safe distance.
The Extreme Warrior raised his Bolt Gun and fired from over five hundred meters away. The Bolt Gun's effective range reached a kilometer; at five hundred meters it still retained its power. The Explosive Shell's rocket propulsion reached three times the speed of sound, reaching the target in the blink of an eye.
The massive projectile pierced the holy beetle's shell, causing an internal explosion; flame and shockwave killed the surrounding holy beetles together.
Two squads of Extreme Warriors opened fire at will.
The gunfire roared thunderously, like cannon fire, echoing far.
The Explosive Shell formed a saturated barrage, sweeping across the sky above Lei En's head, tearing through the beetle swarm like a scythe, and blood and flesh rained down.
The holy beetles could not locate the source of attack, grew even more ferocious, and could only frantically assault the Lei En before them, then were shattered and flung away by the Magic Burst Force Field.
One blast after another echoed through the ruins.
Gunfire reverberated over the desert sky.
The beetle swarm, composed of holy beetles, fought fearlessly, launching attack after attack, only to be repelled each time; no matter how numerous, they could not withstand such massive area extermination.
After a full twenty casts of the Magic Burst Force Field, the surviving holy beetles were less than one‑tenth, scattered and unable to reform a swarm.
Boom!
A wave of shock shattered dozens of scattered holy beetles; finally, the sky cleared, and the few remaining holy beetles fled back into the ruins, burrowing into the desert floor never to emerge again.
Lei En ceased casting.
The desert beneath him was blasted into a massive crater over ten meters in diameter.
At the edge and outer rim of the deep pit, countless holy beetle corpses and limbs were piled as high as a small hill, and golden blood flowed out, turning large swaths of sand golden.
"What a pity…" Lei En shook his head inwardly.
Among the swarm, at least fifteen Mid-stage demon souls died in the Magic Burst Force Field before they could be harvested, so they could only be fully absorbed and converted into energy.
He glanced at the Soul Power Pool; thousands of holy beetles supplied over two hundred units of energy, showing the value had already broken past 500.
The energy units in the Soul Power Pool are measured against one's own Wizard level; one unit can equal the entire soul power of a transcendent who has only recently undergone Soul Transformation. Moreover, the mobile device's efficiency at absorbing souls and converting them to energy is very low—after conversion, it may be less than one‑twentieth of the soul's original power; otherwise the Soul Power Pool would have overflowed long ago.
Lei En flew down to the pit's edge, looked at the corpses scattered everywhere, and wore a face of sorrow.
Dejiko sheathed his shield hammer and walked over, sighing, "Lord, you truly are a student of the Holy Soul Wizard; such a powerful spell has broadened my knowledge."
"It's an Arcane technique called Magic Burst Force Field," Lei En, knowing the Minotaur was curious, explained proactively, "It belongs to the Supreme Element."
"I see," Dejiko nodded, indicating understanding.
Minotaurs cannot fuse demon souls; all abilities and spells either stem from innate talent or are mastered through personal practice, but he is familiar with the human transcendent system and knows the Supreme Element is a very rare technique.
He looked at the corpse of that legendary holy beetle, his gaze a bit eager: "I've never seen such a large holy beetle before; its forelimbs and carapace are rare materials, imbued with holy light power. There are also many high‑tier holy beetles that can supply abundant material, enough for Sunwalkers to forge several sets of exquisite weapons and armor."
"Chief, please feel free,"
Lei En didn't value those materials much and generously relinquished the right to harvest the loot.
"Thank you, Lord," Dejiko exclaimed joyfully, pulling a sharp short sword from his waist and began cutting the legendary holy beetle's corpse.
He had only made a few cuts when, with a snap, the short sword broke in two.
The blade had accompanied him for years and was of exceptional quality, but the beetle's carapace was so hard that a slight force caused it to snap, leaving him pained and uncertain how to proceed.
"Please use this," Lei En took out the Song of Azure Sky and handed it over.
Dejiko took it, glanced at it, and was shocked to discover it was an epic‑level magic sword, yet the other party offered it to him as a skinning knife. He then realized how lavishly wealthy the Lord was, no wonder he didn't value the beetle's material.
He carefully sliced with the sword; its luxurious yet understated blade was incredibly sharp, easily cutting through the hard carapace, so he proceeded with confidence.
In the distance, Extreme Warriors and Minotaurs rode back on Kodo Beasts.
Lei En dispelled the Blood Frenzy, a wave of weakness rose in his mind, causing slight discomfort, but his physique recovered quickly, so it hardly affected his combat ability.
Suddenly, the Voice of All Things heard an unusual sound.
The sound was faint; Lei En focused his mind for a few seconds before roughly locating its source, then quickly turned his head toward the Kodo Beast column, feeling alert.
The Will of Truth's omen warned him that danger was approaching!
He focused and listened.
At last he discovered the sound came from far underground, directly in the direction of the Extreme Warriors and Kodo Beasts; the sand beneath his feet was also flowing slightly, which, if unnoticed, could be mistaken for wind.
Underground!
Lei En suddenly startled, shouted loudly toward the Extreme Warriors and Minotaurs, "Come quickly! Sand worm!"
