Chapter 549: Naiser Are All Useless
The Phoenix Arena fell silent all of a sudden.
Over forty thousand spectators, the teachers and students of BrewotzAcademy, wizards and sorcerers on the stands of ten tower bleachers, the Holy Swordmen of the Justice Church keeping order, and the lofty legendary wizards—who until now had watched for fun or simply to appreciate a magical duel—were all stunned.
An elder of Naiser, famed throughout the Empire for centuries and a Legendary Peak wizard, was shattered by a single hammer strike before all those eyes, reduced to ash and dust!
"Heavens!"
"Goddess above, what has happened?"
Some people could not believe their eyes; they had always thought the magical duel was merely a spar.
After all, both were prominent figures, and Lei En's shout of "Come out and meet death" was taken lightly, assumed to be just Lei En rallying his own spirit.
However.
"Master Quitu really was killed!"
Finally, a shocked spectator shouted, clutching his head in disbelief.
The entire arena's stands erupted; people rose, hoping Master Quitu might reappear as before, emerging reborn from a burst of flame.
But after a few seconds, Master Quitu was nowhere to be seen.
A few keen‑eyed transcendents and wizards knew clearly that Master Quitu was truly dead; Lei En's hammer was terrifying, and Quitu could not survive—his fate was even more tragic than being crushed to ash.
Their eyes filled with terror, realizing a major incident had occurred.
A Naiser elder was slain on the spot by Weizelan Chairman, and it happened before the eyes of the third major power, giving no face to Falanis—an event that would shock the Empire!
The stands descended into chaos.
People whispered to each other, noisy as a market, and no one dared to cheer. Everyone stared at Lei En on the field while repeatedly glancing toward the western tower; the Naiser wizards seated there wore frantic expressions—some angry, some blank—clearly not expecting Master Quitu to die on the spot.
"Chairman Lei En!"
Bigbai flashed forward, accusing, "Why didn't you stop just now?"
Lei En gave him a cool glance, "Didn't hear you."
"You—" Bigbai's face turned ashen with anger; just as he was about to scold further, he met Lei En's gaze, whose dark eyes showed no remorse or tension, only a hint of impatience, as if a hammer could fall at any moment.
The image of Quitu blown to ash by a hammer flashed in his mind, and he hesitated.
At that moment, the remaining five Mirror Images simultaneously opened random gates, transporting behind Lei En to stand in a line, all eyes flashing toward him.
Bigbai's lips trembled, and he forced the words back down.
He had never in his life encountered such a stifling battle.
Three Mirror Images blocked themselves in a corner of the arena, unable to cast even a spell beyond the fifth circle, watching Quitu be hammered apart, clearly still showing mercy. Now facing Lei En's true form plus five Mirror Images, provoking Lei En again would surely end worse than Quitu's fate.
Whoever wields greater power holds the right to speak.
Bigbai adheres to the balance doctrine, yet knows that the fist is the hard truth; with Quitu dead, argument is pointless, so he wisely refrained from a direct rebuke.
He admitted defeat this time, but Falanis would not let it go.
Naiser Fu Kong Cheng would not cease either.
The youth will ultimately pay for his impulsiveness; even though Lei En is a student of Master Anxi, he cannot defy the will of the Supreme Council.
"Chairman Lei En, you've caused a big trouble."
Bigbai earnestly warned, and without waiting for Lei En's reply, swung his staff, controlled a shield to open an exit, and teleported back to the southern tower.
He didn't want to stay on the field for even a second; it was both a humiliation and because standing beside Lei En gave him no sense of safety—his life in another's hands made him uneasy.
Suddenly, everyone's gaze converged on Lei En.
Lei En twirled his war hammer, his lightning twin wings flared behind him, a thunderous roar rang out, and his flight technique, boosted by the Wind‑Thunder Wings, propelled him at astonishing speed; in a blink, people saw Lei En land in the red circle on the field—the starting point of the magical duel.
At the same time, the five Mirror Images vanished.
But to outsiders, it was impossible to tell whether the Mirror Images had been deliberately dispersed or entered an unseen stealth state.
Lei En stood in the red circle, looking up toward the western tower platform.
The Naiser wizards seated above sensed trouble; indeed, a second later Lei En's shout rang across the arena, drowning out all the clamor.
"Useless!"
With a scornful expression, Lei En shouted loudly, "Naiser, you're all useless!"
It's a provocation!
An unabashed, bare‑knuckle provocation!
Lei En stood in the red circle, raving loudly; his intention was obvious even to a fool—to goad the Naiser wizards into a second magical duel.
The whole arena erupted in a roar.
The spectators then realized that Elder Quitu's death was not the end, but just the beginning!
Some whispered in awe that after countless years, finally someone dared to directly challenge Naiser Fu Kong Cheng. This colossal entity was born in New Era Calendar year 866, has ruled the Empire since its inception, and for 1666 years no power has ever shaken its position.
Augulevi Master's fame has echoed through the Empire for an even longer span, predating Naiser by over two thousand years.
Weizelan is counted among the Empire's three major powers, ranking just below Naiser, yet in heritage, wealth, and wizard numbers it falls far short of Naiser Fu Kong Cheng, not even reaching half its scale.
The only contender that could match it is Mo Du's casting doctrine, but as a latercomer its influence always lags, able to approach but never surpass.
A few years ago, Weizelan suffered a devastating invasion by undead celestial disaster, with heavy casualties.
People thought Weizelan would never recover, needing perhaps centuries to rebuild, inevitably adopting a conservative stance and daring not to clash with Naiser for a long time.
No one expected Weizelan to rise against the tide and directly challenge Naiser!
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
Lei En shouted again and again, his voice booming across the fields like a dragon's roar, causing some weak‑willed spectators to cover their ears.
To openly point and spit at Naiser is unimaginable in the Empire; people wouldn't even dream of showing any disrespect to Naiser, and this suddenly felt thrilling, stirring many emotions into excitement.
"Isn't he afraid of angering Augulevi Master?" someone worried about Lei En.
"Why are you scared, Master Anxi!"
"Can Master Anxi be stronger than Augulevi Master?" another person replied skeptically, "Even if the two Holy Soul Wizards fought to a draw, there's the Supreme Council! The Holy Soul Wizards can't let Chairman Lei En run amok, and we don't know who they'll support then…"
"The Empire is about to fall into chaos!"
Some viewers who know something about the Empire's upper echelons voiced their concerns.
But most of the audience didn't think that deeply; they just wanted to see an exciting magical duel, staring eagerly at the western tower stands. The Naiser Wizards up there were unusually quiet, as if a Soundproof Force Field had been set up, and no one had stepped forward to respond to the provocation.
"Are the Naiser Wizards scared stiff?" the spectators with a gossiping mindset complained.
"It's not that they dare not respond; it's that Chairman Lei En is too powerful!"
"Exactly!" someone echoed, "Master Quitu is so formidable that even he couldn't last two minutes; swapping in another Naiser elder would be a death sentence."
"How does Chairman Lei En do it?"
Some transcendants recalled the recent battle and remained puzzled: "Master Quitu, as a Legendary Peak Wizard and the epitome of the Naiser doctrine, mastered hundreds of spells, yet he was shattered by a single hammer before he could even cast a few."
"Why did the three spells Master Quitu flung out before dying have no effect?"
"What about those Mirror Images? I thought a Mirror Image only has half the original's power, yet even Master Bigbai wasn't a match!"
"I don't get it either," many people said, shaking their heads in bewilderment.
Not only the ordinary viewers below, but also the wizards and sorcerers on the ten tower platforms, the vast majority couldn't figure out what was happening; only a few Legendary Peaks discerned some clues.
Wizards from the major Fu Kong Chengs and academies noticed that the Legendary strong ones wore solemn expressions.
They stared at Lei En on the field; some furrowed their brows, seemingly weighing strategies, while others' eyes were filled with disbelief, exclaiming in awe.
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
"Naiser…"
Lei En shouted repeatedly, tireless in his repetition.
However, the Naiser Wizards on the western tower erupted into a clamor; the three elders' faces turned ashen, emotions flared, yet they never responded.
Amid the brazen provocation, an elf mage from the New Oram Academy in Thus: Thus: Shengangcheng asked:
"Lord, how exactly did he manage that?"
The cloaked Heistav's eyes flickered for a few seconds, and in a somewhat ethereal tone he replied: "If you also possess the 'Truth Willpower', the 'Key of Doors', and the 'Twelve-level Power'—three Legendary Elements—plus the formidable physical traits granted by the 'Steel Body' and the 'True Dragon Body', you could also shatter Elder Quitu with a single hammer."
"Goddess!"
"Sss…"
The casters around the New Oram Academy felt a chill surge to the top of their heads; everyone was shaken, nearly thinking they had misheard.
Three Legendary Elements!
Even a Saint Rank transcendent might not possess a single Legendary Element; Chairman Lei En has only risen to Legendary status for a few years, yet he has three Legendary Elements—could that be possible?
Heistav sneered, "Do you think he only has three Legendary Elements?"
"Could there be more?" someone asked, eyes wide.
"It might not be Legendary Elements."
Silver-haired Leila Oro-san, her beautiful face equally solemn, whispered: "Mirror Image, Space-Time Shock, Void Resonance, Timur Kainan's Demon Sword Art, Dragon's Roar, Blood Frenzy, plus that unseeable Invisibility ability that ignores the terrible resistance of blazing hell, the warhammer's instant multi-fold destructive Combat Technique Element, Steel Body, True Dragon Body—these are ten Superlative Elements…"
"These are only the elements he displayed; there must be more!" Heistav added.
The casters of the New Oram Academy felt themselves going mad.
They hadn't reached Legendary status; only a handful were lucky enough to have a single Superlative Element, and most had never even seen a Superlative Element.
Now there's a fellow who possesses over ten Superlative Elements—how could that not be shocking?
And three more Legendary Elements!
Any Superlative Element can cause a transcendent's power to surge, while Legendary Elements can trigger earth-shattering transformations, allowing transcendants to stand out with limitless prospects.
Having so many powerful elements concentrated in one person is simply unimaginable!
Even Leila Oro-san, a Chosen One of the God of Magic, kept shaking her head, sighing: "How can such a person exist in this world?"
"He is immune to control, terrifyingly high resistance; instant low-tier spells do no damage, high-tier spells get interrupted, his physique surpasses dragons, even with only half the power of a Mirror Image he can shatter shields with a single hammer, no matter how many layers of spell protection, it's ineffective—truly unsolvable!"
"It's not that Master Quitu is too weak, nor that the Naiser doctrine is flawed, nor that the Mo Du doctrine has triumphed—this fellow is just too perverse."
"Every caster worldwide, upon meeting him, must take a detour."
Leila Oro-san wore a helpless expression.
Heistav also twitched the corner of his mouth; no caster wanted to face such an archenemy, and he said gravely, "Three years ago when I first saw him, he wasn't this strong."
"Perhaps only a Holy Soul Wizard can suppress him," Leila said, though she wasn't sure in her heart.
"He's only at Legendary Mid-stage now," Heistav said, a bit numb, "If he ascends to Legendary High-rank and successfully masters the 'Anti-Magic Field' or the 'Spell Nullification Barrier', even Holy Soul Wizards wouldn't dare speak loudly before him."
Leila's complexion froze; she was speechless.
The students around the New Oram Academy, listening to the Lord couple's conversation, grew increasingly uneasy, and finally fell into utter silence.
They gazed at Lei En on the field, their eyes filled with boundless reverence.
At the same time they silently reminded themselves: never oppose this person in the future; if you can't be friends, you must stay far away!
Similar conversations occurred on the platforms of each tower.
Not only the Oro-san couple, but also the major Fu Kong Chengs, academies, and Legendary Peaks, more or less discerned some of Lei En's background; the crowd was shocked, and the Legendary ones warned the wizards never to provoke that archenemy on the field!
Everyone wondered how Lei En possessed so many powerful elements.
Is this a specialty of combat wizards?
On the tower platform where the Silver Star Academy stands, Flink and the wizards' gazes fell upon Kerefisu.
"Don't stare at me like that," Kerefisu chuckled wryly, "Although I'm also a combat wizard, I'm far inferior to Lei En; he's an exception, not to be judged by ordinary standards."
"Naiser, you're all useless!"
Lei En's shouts kept repeating over and over, showing no sign of stopping.
Gradually, everyone looked toward the west tower's stands, anticipating how the Naisi wizard would respond to this provocation.
If no one accepts the challenge, the reputation of the Naisi floating city, built over a thousand years, will be utterly destroyed, and the Naisi wizard will become a laughingstock; whenever they go out, others need only sneer "trash" and they won't even have the breath to retort.
If they step onto the stage to duel, it's a dead end!
How should one choose between honor and death?
For some, the answer to this question is simple, needing no hesitation; but for others, it is the most difficult choice in the world.
Over a hundred Naisi wizards felt utterly humiliated; each shout of "trash" was like a slap across the face—some lowered their heads in silence, some burned with righteous indignation, and some wished they could find a hole in the ground to crawl into.
The three Naisi elders had different expressions; a soundproof force field had been set up around them, and the crowd saw them arguing endlessly, faces flushed, yet they reached no conclusion.
Elder Halawa kept transmitting magical messages, but there was never a reply.
As the host, BrewotzAcademy's Sabbath Dean on the north tower's stands theoretically had the authority to stop Lei En from initiating a magic duel, but the Sabbath Dean showed no expression at all and had no intention of speaking up.
Finally, the sole female elder, Yinuola, could bear it no longer; she rose abruptly and teleported into the arena.
The other two Naisi elders couldn't stop her in time; the next second, Yinuola appeared in another red circle opposite Lei En.
She glared at Lei En and said angrily, "Naisi is not trash, and you have no right to judge."
