Chapter 570: The Holy Soul Wizard's Assault
Apocalyptic spells covered the Lich.
At first, most spells were cast by the Lich itself during Time Reversal, while a few were sustained attacks from other Holy Soul Wizards.
Lei En's All-Seeing Eye saw clearly, perhaps even more penetrating than the Holy Soul Wizards'.
The "Binding Ring" that fell from the void reached at least nine rings; its range was massive, encompassing the Lich and its Mirror Images, and its effect surpassed ordinary Binding Rings, manipulating space to restrain enemies with greater precision and cleverness than a static force field.
The caster's mastery of space was breathtaking.
But the opponent did not appear.
Lei En's gaze pierced layer upon layer of void; under the combined effect of the Key of Doors and the All-Seeing Eye, he finally located a silhouette hidden within a spatial fold.
The person was short, wearing a white robe embroidered with purple patterns; a hood concealed the face, with only a few strands of golden hair visible at the neck, clearly a woman.
PurpleFlameDuke Magna*Eran!
Lei En's eyes flickered slightly.
Among the Supreme Council's members, the two most mysterious were the Black Robe Duke and the PurpleFlameDuke; both had arrived.
That was somewhat unexpected.
Rumor had it that the PurpleFlameDuke specialized in ice and fire elements and was not an Arcane practitioner, yet her mastery of spatial spells proved astonishingly high.
She also locked the battlefield's space, preventing the Lich from teleporting away from the plane.
This Binding Ring was even more effective.
The Lich's body stalled for a breath.
Its twelve Mirror Images had far weaker defensive resistance than the main body, lacked independent thought like Lei En's images, reacted faster than ordinary Arcane users yet remained somewhat rigid; as soon as they were summoned they were bound by space and could not move.
Then dozens of Nine-ring Techniques erupted.
Although most were single-target spells, there were area attacks like Meteor Storm and Chain Extreme Meteor Technique, whose power was no weaker than the single-target spells.
Energy raged, meteors and shooting stars bombarded.
The earth-shattering spells instantly annihilated the twelve images; the Lich's body was also assaulted, its spatial barrier surfaced to block all attacks, but in less than half a second it broke free of the Binding Ring and vanished entirely.
Lei En's eyelid twitched as the Lich entered a Time Jump.
His gaze barely pierced the future, tracking the Lich's trail; the Lich leapt into the Time River, remaining static, evading the peak of the first wave of spell eruptions.
Time Jump is extremely powerful, yet it has drawbacks.
The jump point can be adjusted within a small range, up to a hundred meters, but while in the Time River no actions—casting, healing, taking potions, activating gear, etc. —are possible; injuries do not heal, and the state remains as before the jump.
Lei En had previously observed that the Lich could jump at most ten seconds into the future.
By then most spell eruptions had ended, damage reduced to less than a quarter of its peak.
Clearly, the Holy Soul Wizards would not let the enemy succeed.
As soon as the Lich jumped into time, the Black Robe Duke Tuz Lei struck.
He waved the "Magis' Truth Light" in his hand, sending out a faint magical glow that vanished as if piercing the void, but it actually pierced time.
Lei En saw the Lich, frozen in the Time River, being struck.
Immediately his jump ended prematurely.
The Lich was forced to materialize, unable to choose the landing spot; as soon as it emerged, it was hit squarely by its own summoned meteor spell.
Boom!
The meteor, three to four meters in diameter, was incredibly hard; by contrast, the Lich's body seemed extremely fragile, like stone striking an egg, yet the result was the opposite.
The meteor shattered instantly.
The Lich's spatial barrier merely rippled from the impact, appearing unharmed. More spells surged, soon engulfing it, causing the barrier to fluctuate violently.
Lei En's gaze pierced the energy torrent, seeing the Lich at a moment of Time's End.
The overwhelming majority of spells stalled.
Only Anxiwodasi's fireball kept moving, barely affected, its speed slightly reduced, standing out among the many stalled spells.
Time Stop!
However, the Black Robe Duke, also adept at temporal magic, had prepared; focusing on the Lich, he swung his staff, a magical glow entered the Time Stop area, and with a blink it dispelled it.
Time resumed its normal flow.
And before the Time Stop was lifted, Anxiwodasi's fireball technique had already arrived.
The massive fireballs linked into a chain, one after another bombarding the Lich; the terrifying high-temperature flames could even burn through space, and the resulting shockwave collapsed the void, cracking spiderweb-like fissures that assaulted the Lich's spatial barrier, shaking its spirit.
Under Anxiwodasi's exquisite control, several fireballs led the assault, bombarding and encircling the Lich.
At the same time, a dozen fireballs traced pleasing trajectories.
Centered on the Lich, the fireballs formed a bracelet-like ring contracting inward; each explosion point was deliberately chosen, with almost no delay.
Boom—
A deafening blast shook the ground for dozens of miles, like an earthquake.
But only the tremor, no flames erupted.
The scene seemed less spectacular than a Meteor Storm, yet Lei En was dazzled, finally understanding why the teacher was one of the Empire's three greats.
The flames and shockwaves from the dozen fireballs were largely directed toward the central Lich.
What a supreme casting skill that required!
The space around the Lich was instantly shattered; the fireballs created a pitch-black void, the ground beneath evaporated, space fragmented into pure Arcane energy, mixing with the high heat to trigger a stronger chain reaction, becoming the ultimate destructive fire.
From the collapsed void, massive fissures spread outward.
The Lich, at the center, was countered by the explosive shockwaves so cleverly that he remained balanced, as if trapped by invisible solid walls, with no escape.
The space was obliterated; there was no way out.
His Magic Siphon absorbed only part of the fire and explosive energy before it collapsed; the spatial barrier cracked, and the destructive fire seeped in, almost burning his body.
Hoo…
Anxiwodasi's second wave of fireballs followed immediately.
The first explosion had not yet subsided when a second ring composed of a dozen or so massive fireballs formed, contracting inward and about to explode.
The blue flame in the Lich's eye sockets flickered, finally producing a strand of panic.
He was well aware of Anxiwodasi's terrifying aspects.
The greatest trait of Mo Du Wizards is their focus on boosting spell potency; they have few spells but each is powerful, dubbed a "bastion." If they are allowed to prepare fully in a safe environment and cast without any worries, the damage they inflict is unmatched.
Anxiwodasi is the founder of the Mo Du faction; even though he is a few ranks lower than oneself, when it comes to comparing spell destructive power, the Lich must willingly concede defeat.
In this world, no one's attack surpasses Anxiwodasi's!
Boom!
The second fireball ring erupted.
At the very last moment, the Lich strained to shift half a step within the pitch‑black void cavity, moving out of the center and granting himself a layer of high‑grade fire resistance.
With a crisp 'crack!', the spatial barrier shattered.
The flame surged forward, finally reaching the Lich's body, but his constant Magic Siphon absorbed most of its energy; the small remainder, weakened by his fire protection, failed to scorch the ornate robe he wore, and a layer of ethereal light surfaced, extinguishing the fire.
It is also a Legend Grade magical robe.
Because the Lich moved, the explosion's shockwave became unbalanced, blasting him outward and allowing him to use the force to break free from the third fireball ring.
He had not yet managed to cast a counter‑spell when a sword beam slashed before him.
Ouroin Master acted.
He had entered a berserk state, his body swelling to over three meters tall, wielding a dazzling cross longsword that cut the distance between them, the world in the Lich's eyes seeming split in two; he calmly re‑expanded the spatial barrier, but was half a step too late.
A blade edge as fine as a hair flashed across his neck.
Puff!
The incompletely opened spatial barrier, like paper, offered no defense under Ouroin Master's sword.
The Lich's Legend Grade magical robe was triggered, a layer of ethereal light appearing, and it too crumbled under the sword.
The cross longsword harbored terrifying power, unstoppable against any hardness; no matter how solid the object or how many layers of magical protection, none could block it in the slightest.
The Lich's head and body were instantly separated.
His head had just been sliced off when Ouroin Master turned, swung his white wooden staff, and smashed the skull‑and‑bone head into powder.
With a single sword he beheaded the Lich, yet Ouroin Master did not cease his assault.
He swung his sword again, his figure moving so fast the naked eye could barely track it, faster than a blink, appearing hundreds of meters away and slashing into the empty void.
Meanwhile, at his original spot, the Lich's body dissipated.
Nine‑Ring Substitute Death Spell!
A perfectly intact Lich was reborn from the void, only to meet another sword from Ouroin Master.
The other Holy Soul Wizards failed to react, but Ouroin Master sensed it early; amid his boundless berserk, his gaze remained calm, locking onto the Lich and delivering a merciless sword.
His swordsmanship was plain and unadorned, showing no flash, yet it always struck the enemy's weakest point.
The cross longsword sliced into the Lich's spatial barrier.
Only this time the Lich was prepared; the spatial barrier was not instantly breached, and his gaze swept to the distant Silver Star Duke, instantly swapping positions with her.
The Silver Star Duke had just summoned an ancient dragon demon, caught off guard, and found herself under Ouroin Master's sword.
With her protection, it was impossible to fend off Ouroin Master's attack.
Instantly, terror flashed across her face.
Whoosh!
Ouroin Master's blade, cutting like tofu, sliced through the Silver Star Duke's Silver Fire Shield, touching her skin, yet inexplicably halted.
The Silver Star Duke's eyes were still stunned.
She had not yet spoken when Ouroin Master vanished from sight; in the next instant he appeared behind the Lich, the massive white staff head crashing down.
Just as the Lich swapped positions, a binding ring fell again, anchoring him in place.
The PurpleFlameDuke, hidden in the shadows, struck.
The Black Robe Duke raised his staff, and the white crystal atop it emitted a beam of Truth Light; a conical wave enveloped the Lich, piercing its soul and inflicting immense pain.
The long‑prepared Tim*Kenan Master also unleashed his prized creation.
Tim Kainen Disintegrate!
He is one of the Empire's three greats, leader of the Balance faction, and also an Arcane mage, ranking just below Augulevi Master.
He has invented many spells, but two are his most prized and famous.
One is the Tim Kainen Magic Sword technique already mastered by Lei En, the other is the "Tim Kainen Disintegrate" he is now using, which Wizards abbreviate as "Greater Disintegrate!"
Greater Disintegrate makes people love and hate it.
It is an Eight‑Ring Spell that can dispel magical effects, including buffs, protections, anti‑magic fields, etc.; any bestowed status can be removed, and it can also destroy magical items, from the lowest‑grade enchanted gear to epic, Legend Grade, even artifacts, albeit with a very low chance.
The lower the quality of a magical item, the higher the chance it will be destroyed.
As long as one has Mid‑stage Legend mastery, they can wield Greater Disintegrate in battle; a single cast strips the enemy's gear clean, though it also forfeits the loot.
Thus, this spell makes people love and hate it.
Tim*Kenan Master personally released a Greater Disintegrate of Nine‑Ring magnitude, a transparent ray only a finger's width, striking the Lich with pinpoint accuracy.
A burst of crackling crisp sounds.
Bathed in Truth Light, the Lich writhed in extreme agony, unable to dodge, while the external spatial barrier melted like ice.
Multiple layers of constant protective spells were pierced and collapsed.
In a flash of light, the Lich's ornate magical robe tore into pieces, its intricate enchantment runes failing, turning into ragged scraps hanging on him; the wind blew, scattering them, and the Legend Grade equipment held no value.
Only the Time's End staff remained unharmed, but the Lich's body was also exposed.
Ouroin Master's massive white wooden staff came down head‑first; with his terrifying power, any strike would shatter the Lich to pieces.
However, at the instant the staff tip touched the lich's scalp, just as a bit of damage was produced, the lich disappeared.
Boom!
Ouroin Master smashed a pit several meters deep into the ground, he turned his head to look around, but did not find the lich's trace.
"Time trigger." He said lightly.
The other Holy Soul wizards all understood tacitly.
This is a trigger-type protective spell, likely attached to Time's End; when the lich takes damage, it is promptly sent to the time river in a stasis state, protecting it, lasting also six seconds; as soon as the time arrives, he will reappear.
As expected, this is the lich's last lifesaving means.
The lich in temporal stasis cannot do anything; when it emerges, that is its time of death.
Thus, Black Robe Duke Tuzlei did not cast to force the lich out; several Holy Soul wizards, in good sync, fully utilized these six seconds to cast, silently waiting for that moment to arrive, to deliver the final blow.
