Chapter 585: First Meeting with the Governor
Lei En walked out of the meditation chamber, returned to the third‑floor hall of the villa, and saw the Master and Speaker Ronnie sitting together, discussing the upcoming investiture ceremony.
Anxiwodasi turned his head, his eyes showing a hint of surprise; it had only been a few minutes.
He couldn't help but ask, "Did the fusion succeed?"
"Yes, Master," Lei En said with a smile, nodding.
Roni also studied him carefully, noticing Lei En's aura was much stronger than before, and envied him, saying, "So fast! When I was your age, I was still striving to ascend to legendary, and you're already at Mid‑stage legendary. At this rate, in just a few years your Wizard rank will catch up to mine."
Roni only mentioned the Wizard rank, not the strength.
In terms of strength, Lei En, after the three battles at the opening ceremony, firmly held the top spot beneath the Holy Soul; even Roni, however confident, would not dare claim to be stronger than Lei En.
Lei En gave him a modest smile.
Anxiwodasi wore a satisfied expression and said, "I will continue to have people gather demon souls and information, striving to help you reach the Legendary Peak sooner, to strike the Holy Soul and enter the Supreme Council."
Roni was dumbfounded, thinking he had misheard.
Legendary Peak, striking the Holy Soul…
With his talent, he is now only an Eighteenth‑level Elementalist, still far from the Legendary Peak, let alone striking a Holy Soul Wizard.
But the GrandSpeaker didn't seem to be joking.
Then, seeing the GrandSpeaker turn to him, he encouraged, "Roni, you need to step up your effort as well. I originally had the most confidence in you, but unfortunately these years your energy and thoughts have been on your family, slowing your progress; it's time to refocus."
Roni felt a sense of urgency and some remorse.
"GrandSpeaker," he quickly rose, earnestly saying, "After the investiture ceremony ends and we return to Weizelan, I will devote myself to advancement immediately and will not disappoint your expectations."
"Mm."
Anxiwodasi stroked his snowy white beard, pleased with Roni's response.
The fall of Augulevi Master left the Naiser faction and Fu Kong Cheng without their greatest leader, making this the best moment for Weizelan to rise and surpass Naiser. However, the existing four hundred plus Wizards of Weizelan are insufficient; the number of legendary Wizards, and most importantly the Legendary Peak Wizards, are far fewer than Naiser's.
There is only one Holy Soul Wizard and Lei En, insufficient to control the Empire's affairs.
The other Speakers of Weizelan's six‑member council must provide more support; in the coming years, Weizelan will recruit a large number of students, continuously training new Wizards.
Roni and Kaidejia's talents are once‑in‑a‑century, and they were once prominent figures; apart from Lei En, the unparalleled prodigy, few can surpass them. If the two can reach the Legendary Peak earlier, and with Kelaoaosi already striking the Holy Soul, Weizelan's overall strength will rise further, sharing some of Lei En's burden.
Therefore, the usually easygoing Anxiwodasi had to urge Roni.
Roni, being clever, immediately grasped the deeper meaning behind the GrandSpeaker's words and on the spot declared that he would give his all to improve. The path of transcendence advances only forward; although the GrandSpeaker did not force him, speaking in a relaxed tone, continued laxity would eventually lead to abandonment.
Lei En listened to their conversation, his mind also pondering.
The stronger Weizelan becomes, the more advantageous it is for him; if one or two more reach the Legendary Peak, or even a second Holy Soul Wizard is born, that would be even better.
In this regard, he can provide some assistance.
Thus Lei En produced two bottles of magic pills.
The liquid in the glass bottles was scant, resembling liquid gold and emitting a faint golden glow, but once the magic pills were taken out, the two Wizards immediately sensed a strange aura, their gazes instantly drawn, eyes slightly brightening.
"This is…" Anxiwodasi's expression was one of startled doubt.
Roni even sprang up abruptly.
"Master, Speaker Ronnie," Lei En threw a Soundproof Force Field scroll to envelop the entire room, then said, "It's called 'Sunlight Blood,' a highly precious magic pill made with the finest alchemical materials in the world. Drinking it boosts meditation efficiency at least fivefold for ten days; if fully absorbed, the effect can last up to half a month, and it also slightly enhances constitution and resistance."
As he spoke, he handed the magic pills over, one bottle per person.
"Fivefold meditation efficiency, lasting half a month, and it also strengthens constitution and resistance!"
Roni turned pale and exclaimed.
He is also a well‑read Wizard; although not proficient in alchemy, he has drunk hundreds of magic pills, and only a handful—two or three—have comparable effects, so obtaining one is a rare fortune.
Such precious magic pills are astronomically priced; even the wealthy cannot afford them.
Anxiwodasi took the crystal bottle, examined the liquid inside, his expression turning extremely solemn as he discerned the pill's composition.
"Does it contain divinity?" he asked softly.
"Yes," Lei En admitted calmly.
Roni's breathing grew heavy, and he felt a sudden clarity; no wonder he always sensed the magic pill's aura as unique—his detection spell revealed a soul‑shaking majesty, which turned out to be divinity!
A magic pill forged from a divine creature, thus possessing such astonishing efficacy.
But he had never heard that magic pill's name before.
"Where did you obtain it?"
Anxiwodasi asked subconsciously, then realized it might be Lei En's secret and not convenient to disclose, and instead asked, "How many bottles of this 'Sunlight Blood' do you have?"
He harbored a faint expectation.
Since Lei En produced the magic pill, it was clearly meant as a contribution to Weizelan; if only a few bottles existed, Lei En would not be so solemn.
"Sunlight Blood is a newly developed magic pill, and currently manpower is insufficient, so production is limited…"
Lei En chose his words carefully; Sunlight Blood was named by his student "Queying," who is the sole skilled worker, and with a few other students assisting, without accounting for failures, they can produce up to ten bottles of magic pill per day.
Moreover, Queying cannot devote all his time to forging Sunlight Blood; he must also meditate, cultivate, and study other alchemical arts.
Lei En's original plan was to allocate Sunlight Blood only to a few students, Extreme Warriors, and a handful of elite gun‑knights.
To boost Weizelan's overall strength, providing Sunlight Blood to a few more legendary Wizards would suffice. Unless production can be increased, but that would inevitably expose outsiders to the corpse of the sun‑spotted viper, potentially leaking information.
The two Wizards also sensed Lei En's reluctance.
"However…" Lei En shifted his tone, smiling, "I can contribute at most ten slots, granting two bottles of Sunlight Blood each month for the next five years. Master and the several Speakers need not worry about Sunlight Blood's supply; that amount of material will not be insufficient."
Anxiwodasi's eyes lit up.
Roni grew even more excited, his breathing growing a few breaths heavier. If Sunlight Blood truly has the effect Lei En described, he will save a great deal of time, confident he can reach Nineteenth‑level within one to two years, then spend a few more years to attain the Legendary Peak!
"I won't need it," Anxiwodasi shook his head.
He shook the Sunlight Blood in his hand, "Such a fine magic pill would be wasteful for me to use; give my slot to someone else."
A magic pill forged from divine material is equally useful to a Holy Soul Wizard, though its effect is somewhat diminished.
Wizards above Thirty-level, whose souls have undergone nine metamorphoses, have few effective magic pills left, which is why Sunlight Blood is so precious.
Lei En, however, held a different opinion:
"Master, Weizelan owes its present to you; the stronger your power, the safer Weizelan becomes. You are the one who should wield Sunlight Blood. Even if the boost is only slight, it already demonstrates the value of Sunlight Blood and is not a waste."
"Lei En is right," Roni added, urging, "GrandSpeaker, you should not refuse."
Anxiwodasi hesitated briefly, then finally nodded.
"Fine, I'll accept it," he said, looking at Lei En. "You supplied the Sunlight Blood; you may allocate these ten slots."
"Better let the Master decide," Lei En replied decisively.
The ten slots, half of them must go to the remaining five speakers of Weizelan's six‑person council. In recent years, besides himself, there has been a newly‑promoted legendary Wizard, bringing Weizelan's legendary Wizards back to thirteen, meaning three legendary Wizards would not receive Sunlight Blood.
There is a shortfall of three slots.
The Sun‑class viper's massive size provides abundant material, allowing three more slots to be added with ease, but Lei En does not wish to do so.
If everyone gets a share without competition, the Sunlight Blood would seem too cheap.
Some might even be ungrateful, selling the magic elixir for cash.
"Hmm, when I return to Weizelan I'll think carefully about the allocation," Anxiwodasi said without declining, though his expression was conflicted, clearly having considered the issue. He glanced at Lei En and added, "I'll have the Wizards who receive Sunlight Blood keep it secret; if the magic elixir leaks, the council will hold them accountable."
Lei En said gratefully, "Thank you, Master, for your thorough consideration."
"You've contributed so greatly to Weizelan; I must look out for you and not let you suffer a loss for providing the magic elixir," Anxiwodasi said with a chuckle.
Speaker Ronnie also voiced his agreement.
Putting the Sunlight Blood away, the three discussed other matters, exchanging ideas about Weizelan's future plans.
One hour before the ceremony.
A Weizelan Wizard went upstairs to report, "GrandSpeaker, two Speakers, the Consul requests an audience."
"Consul?" Roni asked, surprised.
Lei En's All‑Seeing Eye pierced the wall, revealing a squad of formidable transcendent beings standing before the villa—over twenty individuals, each clad in heavy enchanted armor, imposing and exuding a murderous aura, yet none dared step inside, positioning themselves around the entrance.
Among them, someone bore a square banner on a spear shaft, embroidered with a double‑headed eagle.
The eagle wore a crown, its two claws each gripping a long sword and a scepter; golden wheat stalks surrounded it on the sides and bottom; atop were three holy emblems, the central hexagram representing the God of Magic, the left a life vessel of the Earth Mother, the right a law‑scale of the Justice God.
It is the double‑headed eagle banner of the Oriense Empire.
Historically, only the imperial emperor could display the eagle banner while traveling; now this honor belongs solely to the Consul.
Seeing this eagle banner signals the Consul's arrival.
These elite guards are the Consul's Imperial Guard; Lei En observed with his Soul Eye that among the twenty‑plus, the lowest rank is high‑tier, with several legends, their professions well‑matched, equipment superb, and their coordination exceptional.
However, the strongest is the Consul himself, already inside the villa's lower level.
Gneus*Chikuro!
A level‑23 Saint Rank magic swordsman, and a rare Thunder Magic swordsman, who, before being elected Consul, was revered as the 'Thunder Sword Saint'.
Today he wore no enchanted armor nor a cloak, only a simple yet dignified silver uniform; two badges were pinned to his chest—one his family crest, the other the double‑headed eagle signifying his Consul rank—and a single‑handed broad sword with scabbard hung at his waist.
Gneus was conversing with a legendary Wizard of Weizelan.
His expression was gentle, smiling, which left the hosting legendary Wizard delighted and astonished; other Weizelan Wizards in the villa also halted, casting amazed glances.
Anxiwodasi showed no surprise at all, "Please have him come up."
Soon, Gneus was invited up to the third floor.
"Greetings, Master Anxiwodasi."
"Greetings, Speaker Lei En, Speaker Ronnie."
Gneus briskly entered, greeting the three with neither deference nor arrogance. Lei En and Roni both rose—a proper respect owed to the Empire's Consul.
Anxiwodasi, of higher standing, remained seated and smiled, "Welcome, Consul, to our visit; please have a seat."
"Thank you, Master Anxiwodasi," Gneus said before taking his seat.
Lei En had been observing Gneus from before he entered; this was his first time seeing a Saint Rank transcendent who was not a Wizard.
The Empire is a Wizard‑ruled realm; Wizards naturally outrank other transcendent beings and are generally stronger, yet in practice there are many Saint Rank transcendent beings beyond Wizards—indeed, even more numerous—but they remain shrouded by the Supreme Council's shadow, unable to wield ultimate power, their reputations somewhat dim.
Advancing to Saint Rank, different transcendent professions may have different paths; three common methods exist.
Holy Soul Wizards of the Law Seal school must master three Nine‑ring Techniques.
The Soul‑Control and Combat schools require the integration of one Saint Rank magic soul.
Both methods demand high spiritual quality.
Most transcendent professions lack the innate talent of Wizards; each Soul Transformation yields a reduced effect, and after many accumulations, upon reaching Legendary Peak, their spiritual quality lags far behind Wizards', by more than a single grade.
They cannot merge the Law Seal; forcibly integrating a Saint Rank magic soul has an exceedingly slim success rate, and failure can cost them their lives.
Thus, most transcendent beings outside Wizards rely on the third method to breakthrough.
That is, they invest long hours and great effort to hone a skill or technique, advancing it from a Super‑Exceptional Element to a Legendary Element, thereby triggering a soul metamorphosis and ascending to Saint Rank!
This path is more arduous, but it is safe and reliable.
Countless transcendent beings at Legendary Peak never break through in their lifetimes; yet if they succeed, possessing even a single Legendary Element dramatically boosts power and extends lifespan. Though they may struggle to match Holy Soul Wizards, their status soars, instantly placing them among the world's top transcendent beings.
If a Saint Rank transcendent serves the Church, backed by deities, even Holy Soul Wizards dare not look down upon them.
Lei En's Soul Eye could not pierce Gneus's true nature.
However, he sensed a profound thunder force within Gneus; the surrounding thunder Elements were subtly drawn toward Gneus, their affinity slightly stronger than his own.
"At least two thunder elemental forms."
"Moreover, he possesses a Legendary Element; this Consul's strength is far greater than that of the newly promoted Sabbath Dean."
Lei En made a private assessment.
If the Sabbath Dean's strength counts as one unit, then Gneus is roughly one and a half. Gneus has been a Saint Rank for several hundred years, so his greater power is unsurprising.
Gneus sensed Lei En's gaze, turned, and offered a friendly smile.
Then he stated his purpose: "Master Anxiwodasi, my visit today is to report to you on the supervision procedures for Fu Kong Cheng."
Ka wen, and I slapped my own face again, ashamed!
I spent more than a day sorting out the detailed outline behind it, but I seem to owe even more, and I'm back to chapter four, still need to finish it within this month…
