Chapter 604: Return to the Sacred Temple

~12 min read 2,350 words

"Teacher," Lei En saluted and called out.

Anxiwodasi held the "Kemi Tis Emblem" in his hand, which kept flashing white light, indicating messages from other Holy Soul Wizards, but none were received or replied to.

He stared intently at Lei En and asked, "Where is Reslin?"

"Not revived yet," Lei En answered truthfully. He had considered reviving Reslin before meeting the teacher to pass the inspection, but upon reflection realized there was no point in hiding it from the teacher, nor could he conceal it.

Reslin was already a Legendary Peak mage; after revival he would still be at level eighteen, likely allowing the teacher to discern his true strength.

A magical duplicate whose power level was even higher than the original, even more inexplicable.

It would be better to admit it outright.

"Indeed..."

Anxiwodasi exhaled a long breath; although Lei En did not state it outright, it implicitly admitted that he was behind the attack on ParrasFloatingCity. Even though he had previously, through Euro, inferred from Lei En's assistance that Reslin must have acted in secret, hearing Lei En confirm it still shocked him profoundly.

Attacking Fu Kong Cheng single‑handedly caused such massive destruction.

That overturned his understanding.

When ParrasFloatingCity was attacked, Kellston himself was on site; his own power was so formidable that even he feared it, yet he still could not stop Reslin. In other words, if Reslin also launched an assault on Weizelan, could he block it?

He had not seen Reslin again since the first time he met him a few years ago.

He did not know Reslin's current strength.

Anxiwodasi felt a surge of astonishment, suddenly realizing that some of his student's motives were inscrutable; in theory he should not probe Lei En's secrets, but he could not resist and finally asked, "Lei En, how did you do it?"

"What did Reslin use to blow down the high tower?"

"Did you use a magical badge to crack the teleportation permission of Fu Kong Cheng?"

He asked three questions in a row.

Especially the last question, which concerned the safety of all Fu Kong Cheng in the Empire, hoped Lei En could give a clear answer.

Lei En raised an eyebrow, somewhat unexpectedly.

The teacher's question indicated that Hong Shi, the Duke, had disclosed all the details of the ParrasFloatingCity attack, and also indirectly confirmed that Lei En had seized the Parras emblem as a cover, the smoke bomb he threw took effect, confusing Hong Shi's judgment.

Lei En thought for a few seconds, then smiled, "Teacher, you need not worry; I did not crack the teleportation permission."

"Hm?" Anxiwodasi was very puzzled.

"Reslin merely possesses a certain ability to bypass spatial barriers and teleport into Fu Kong Cheng," Lei En said vaguely, without clearly explaining the function of the Key of Doors.

Anxiwodasi understood at once, exclaiming in surprise, "Legendary Element Space Sovereign!"

"Not exactly," Lei En shook his head, "but it's close enough."

The three major Legendary Elements of the time‑space type share some commonalities: the "Hourglass of Time" leans toward time, the "Space Sovereign" deals with space, and the "Key of Doors" combines affinity for both time and space; it may not be the strongest, but its application range is the widest and its potential the greatest.

Anxiwodasi, seeing Lei En unwilling to elaborate, did not press further.

He let out a sigh of relief.

As long as the teleportation permission of Fu Kong Cheng is not cracked, there is no need for excessive worry; after all, Lei En and Reslin's abilities are unique and pose no threat to Weizelan's Fu Kong Cheng.

"What about that explosive thing?" he asked again.

Lei En took a Titan Engine from the Nebula Ring, placed it before the teacher, reached out to activate it, and said, "This is a Titan Engine I fashioned by studying Titan rune knowledge and modifying a Titan Furnace; please have a look, Teacher."

Anxiwodasi immediately became intensely interested.

For a Holy Soul Wizard, brand‑new unfamiliar knowledge holds tremendous allure.

He stepped forward to observe carefully.

When the Titan Engine started, it emitted a low rumble; countless tiny, intricate runes on its surface lit up, channeling massive energy.

Anxiwodasi examined it and was instantly astonished.

"What powerful energy!"

The Titan Engine's size was so small—like a backpack—yet it could unleash such colossal energy, reminding him of the Iola Core. The runes on the engine's surface numbered in the thousands, densely etched like a maze; each rune and each line had been meticulously designed and arranged to tame and harness the raging energy.

Anxiwodasi's gaze was completely captured.

He had not devoted much effort to alchemy or machinery, but as a Holy Soul Wizard with unparalleled insight and perception, he naturally understood how superb the craftsmanship of this tiny Titan Engine was—truly beyond ordinary imagination.

The Titan rune system differs entirely from today's alchemical runes.

Anxiwodasi stared for a while, realizing he could not comprehend it at all; even the engine's operating principle was a complete mystery to him.

"Where did you learn the Titan rune knowledge?" he asked, looking up.

"I obtained the rune texts from a Titan Elder and then taught myself," Lei En briefly told the teacher about the existence of the Storm Temple, concealing only the temple entrance's location.

Anxiwodasi listened with repeated sighs of admiration.

Over the years Lei En had followed his student, venturing out occasionally, and he never expected such exciting encounters abroad.

Even a demigod‑level Titan Elder was involved.

As for Lei En's claim of self‑studied Titan rune knowledge, Anxiwodasi harbored no doubt; in this world, no one understood Lei En's epoch‑making talent better. Lei En's memory, comprehension, and creativity often left him feeling inferior.

Kellston was touted as humanity's foremost prodigy, but in Anxiwodasi's eyes, Lei En's talent surpassed Kellston's by a notch.

Lei En is the true first prodigy!

Just by self‑studying for a few years, Lei En could improve and fabricate a Titan Furnace; Kellston likely could not.

Anxiwodasi turned his gaze back to the Titan Engine, his expression exceedingly solemn.

His knowledge was immensely deep, and he had naturally heard of the great creations of the Second Era; the Giant Empire's splendor was built upon the Titan Furnace, just as today's Wizard Empire relies on the Iola Core. Without the Iola Core there would be no Fu Kong Cheng, nor the world‑shaking deterrence of Holy Soul Wizards.

Although the Titan Furnace was limited by scarce source crystal fuel and could not be deployed on a large scale, Lei En's modifications might revive its vitality.

His own student, at the drop of a hat, produces things that could reshape the world order.

Lei En guessed the teacher's thought and quickly said, "Teacher, the Titan Engine is still imperfect; it has a serious flaw."

"Oh?" Anxiwodasi inquired, "What flaw?"

"It can explode."

Lei En explained with a smile, "The Titan Engine's rune array cannot stably control operation; after twenty seconds it goes out of control and explodes."

"You used it to blow up Kelsong's high tower?" Anxiwodasi wore a look of sudden realization.

"Yes." Lei En produced a source crystal rod, "The more fuel you put in, the stronger the blast. Lei Silin launched three Titan Engines in ParrasFloatingCity, each loaded with one hundred fifty pounds of source crystal, their power not inferior to the Nine Ring Extreme Flame Explosion Technique."

Anxiwodasi took the source crystal rod and examined it carefully.

This is a mineral refined by Lei En, looking like a silver rod as thick as a finger, weighing less than a pound, appearing plain, yet who could have thought it could release such massive energy!

Lei En roughly explained some control issues of the Titan Engines.

Anxiwodasi, not adept at alchemy or machinery, could understand Lei En's words and the difficulty of stably controlling the engines. He kept shaking his head, "That will have to be figured out by yourself; I can't give you any useful advice."

"I've already gotten some ideas, but I'm not certain yet," Lei En said rather mysteriously.

"Hmm." Anxiwodasi nodded, returned the source crystal rod to Lei En, without probing the ideas, and instead said, "Over at Parras, you should not act for now."

"Why?"

Anxiwodasi replied solemnly, "First, it's very dangerous; Kelsong already has defenses, a second attack could likely expose Lei Silin's identity, you and I would be held accountable by the Supreme Council, Ouroin would also be implicated, causing him to turn against us."

"Second, from my personal perspective, I also don't want Parras to actually collapse."

He looked at Lei En, earnestly urging, "The Empire has only seven Floating Cities, each an extremely valuable asset; we cannot let personal grudges with Kelsong spark fierce infighting and weaken the Empire's overall strength."

Lei En disagreed, "When they moved against Weizelan, they didn't consider the Empire at all."

"Them?"

Anxiwodasi didn't understand, "Wasn't the mastermind behind Weizelan's kidnapping Augulevi Master? What does that have to do with Kelsong?"

"I only have suspicions, no evidence, but I will keep investigating," Lei En explained. "Master, if Kelsong had a chance to eliminate Weizelan, do you think he would stop?"

Anxiwodasi fell silent.

After a long while, he slowly shook his head, insisting on his stance: "Kelsong can die; there will be a chance later, but ParrasFloatingCity must not collapse; let's maintain the status quo for now."

Lei En let out a sigh.

In fact, he had long understood the Master's character: tolerant and merciful, principled, yet somewhat pedantic and stubborn; sometimes he would concede even at his own loss, causing Weizelan to be very passive in many matters, only retaliating when forced with no other choice.

Such a temperament is actually unsuitable for a leader.

Fortunately, the Master's strength is immense; in a world that reveres the strong, even with some character flaws, as long as one wields power, no major mistakes occur.

Lei En, not wanting to argue with the Master, nodded and agreed, "Alright, I will stand down."

He saw the Kemi Tis emblem no longer flashing white, so he packed away the Titan Engine and left under Anxiwodasi's watchful gaze.

Returning to Glamorogen, Lei En teleported to the Dying Sun Plane.

In the pyramid, he slit his wrist to bleed, consuming over a thousand milliliters of fresh blood along with massive soul energy and electricity, beginning the second resurrection of Lei Silin.

Soon, the naked Lei Silin stood before him again.

As expected, the resurrected Lei Silin's power regressed to an Eighteenth‑rank mage. However, the Key of Doors that had reached the Eight Ring and the Greater Disintegrate he mastered remained intact, unaffected.

The soul‑energy pool still held plenty of electricity, and in an instant Lei Silin recovered to the peak of a Nineteenth‑rank mage.

Lei Silin took the Nebula Ring, put it on, retrieved a black magical robe from within and donned it, and also grasped the Arcane Flood Staff.

He glanced at the staff, a hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes.

This epic‑grade staff had become somewhat mediocre; for several attached teleportation spells, he had already built spell models, so he could cast them without the staff, and the teleport effect of the Eight Ring Key of Doors surpassed the staff. The most powerful "Stasis Field" was only Six‑Ring, which was increasingly insufficient against the ever‑stronger foes.

Not long after, he could master the Stasis Field himself, rendering the staff merely a chicken rib.

"Time to change weapons," Lei Silin said calmly.

Lei En nodded.

He will soon send Lei Silin to the New Continent to locate the city of the Spirit‑absorbing Monster's brain and resolve the Titan Engine control issue. The New Continent is far more dangerous than the Old Continent, teeming with countless monsters; even a Legendary Peak mage cannot be careless and must be fully prepared.

The Arcane Flood Staff is epic equipment; only Legend‑Grade gear surpasses it.

Any Legend‑Grade magical item is a matter of chance, not something one can simply obtain; coincidentally, Lei En knows where to get one.

He took the Thunder God's Hammer he had kept here for over half a month, stepped into the teleportation array and vanished.

Lei Silin rested briefly, opened a portal and entered the Atas Desert outside, continuing to hunt evil creatures and harvest their souls for charging. Lei En returned to Jin Gang Fort, without startling the people on the training ground, used the Void‑Spirit Gate to open a portal, appeared over a hundred li north, with a booming sound, raised the Thunder God's Hammer into the sky and surged toward Kar Peak at high speed.

Before night fell, Lei En rushed to a hidden valley at the waist of Kar Peak.

He had been there many times before.

He rode his light vehicle along the familiar route into the collapsed underground shrine, hid the Thunder God's Hammer, activated the massive planar teleport array, and teleported into the Storm Temple.

The magnificent temple, built atop the mountain range, was surrounded by endless storms and thunderclouds, seeming eternal.

"Lei En."

A familiar voice sounded; it was Storm Giant Luodaar, guardian of the teleport array. He lowered his guard and murmured, "You are back again."

"Lord Luodaar," Lei En nodded, "I have come to request an audience with Elder Suo Lim."

The legendary Storm Giant stepped aside, clearing the way.

He watched Lei En depart, and when Lei En entered the temple complex, hesitated a few breaths, then finally flicked a slender lightning bolt toward a spot within the temple.

Lei En moved swiftly; within minutes he reached the central Furnace Temple, entered smoothly, and at a glance saw Titan Elder Suo Lim, seated on a towering stone throne, intently perusing an ancient giant tome.

This Titan Giant seemed to reside forever in this palace; each visit always found him.

Suo Lim heard the footsteps, turned, and upon seeing Lei En, his golden‑cast visage immediately broke into a smile, like a warm‑hearted host.

"Lei En, welcome!"

He rose, shrank his massive form to meet him, and with a booming voice laughed, "What do you wish to exchange this time?"
