Chapter 664: All-Powerful Wizard
Dao En Sosi's eyes were filled with startled doubt.
A camp of over eight hundred coyote werewolves would take at least two hours to clear by oneself. Coyote werewolves are far craftier than bear goblins; they flee, leaving some survivors, yet Reslin finished it in half a minute, wiping them out in one sweep.
What terrifying efficiency!
Everyone is Legendary High-rank; even if you're a spell‑specialized Wizard, the gap shouldn't be this huge, right?
Even Asina, who knows Reslin's background, was startled.
After a long pause, Yizite finally asked in a dry voice, "Reslin, are you a Holy Soul Wizard?"
Although Reslin had claimed to be a nineteenth‑level Wizard, the twelve Mirror Images just now, casting Five-ring Technique with effects comparable to the Nine-ring Technique, made the dark elves doubt that a Legendary Wizard could achieve such feats.
Reslin shook his head: "Of course not."
"Then how did you do it?" Yizite couldn't help asking further, then realized he had overstepped, hastily apologizing: "Sorry, I was presumptuous; I shouldn't have asked."
"Hmm." Reslin replied lightly, neither angry nor explanatory.
In fact, creating that meteor shower wasn't easy for him; just casting the Eight-ring Mirror Image Technique consumed a lot of mana, about ten energy units. Afterwards, each Mirror Image drew mana from his own body, and the Endless Storm Staff's dual‑casting doubled the spell power, doubling the mana cost as well.
The twelve Mirror Images each performed a round of Mayoof Micro Meteor, and together with his own body, they released twenty‑six Five-ring Techniques in an instant.
In a brief half‑minute, he executed nine rounds of Mayoof Micro Meteor.
By calculation, that's 234 Five-ring Techniques in half a minute; even though his cultivation uses the supreme "Lake of Stars" meditation method, giving him a total mana pool more than three times that of peers, it still taxed him.
Another two or three rounds of small meteors would drain his mana completely.
Of course, the huge expense was worth it; a night of meditation restores him. He absorbed the souls of over eight hundred corrupted coyote werewolves, converting them into nearly three hundred energy units, and together with the corrupted bear goblin tribe Dao En Sosi had slain earlier, he harvested over four hundred energy units today.
Reslin's spiritual energy pool is shared with Lei En's body; it had just over six hundred energy units left, and now the pool surged past a thousand units.
He looked at the pool, now more than half full, and thought, "It's time to upgrade my spells."
Most of the previously absorbed energy had been used by Lei En's body.
Aside from the sudden jump to a nineteenth‑level wizard during the Ansel Tomb incident, Reslin hadn't advanced much; the spells he had mastered were self‑constructed models, only a few common spells had been improved, while most remained at their initial ring levels.
At this moment, Dao En Sosi finally calmed down, remembering his duty, "I'll go cleanse the demon nest."
Reslin opened a teleportation portal for him.
Minutes later, holy light dispelled the dark clouds overhead, the evil energy receded, and the omnipresent whispers in the wind vanished.
In less than ten minutes total, a demon nest was completely destroyed.
Dao En Sosi also promptly extinguished the blaze in Withered Leaf Forest, preventing it from spreading up the mountain.
"We should return," Yizite said.
After two mass teleportations, the party returned from the southern end of Grey Valley to the central exit; Albert Bay's Great Wall was already in sight. Dao En Sosi assumed they'd walk in through the Great Wall's north gate, but Reslin opened another teleportation portal.
"Hmm?" the Savage Priest asked, puzzled.
Albert Bay's Great Wall not only blocks Abyss forces and monsters from ground assaults, but also bears massive isolation and anti‑void arrays, preventing enemies from teleporting in or flying over the city.
Yet teleportation within the interior of the Great Wall is unaffected.
Therefore, the transcendent ones have only three routes in and out of Albert Bay,
first, by boat through the main gate strait of Saint Fang Jig, exiting beneath Gordon Bridge; the other two are the south gate at Jose and the north gate at Oke Lan, both narrow tunnels carved beneath the Great Wall, heavily fortified and hard to breach.
The Great Wall's north gate leads to Grey Valley and is the busiest land route.
Dao En Sosi had lost count of how many times he had walked it.
"Aren't we returning to the city?" he asked, just as he saw Reslin and two others step into the portal, so he followed.
The scene shifted, revealing an elegant courtyard; Dao En Sosi looked up to see the Great Wall towering on the mountain top in the distance, visible in every direction, confirming he was back inside the city.
He exclaimed in amazement, "You can actually teleport into Albert Bay!"
Reslin replied expressionlessly.
Yizite, however, was no longer surprised; when he teleported out of the city two days ago, he had also been startled, and whispered to the priest, "Please keep this secret."
If this matter reaches the higher‑ups of Albert Bay, especially the three Saint Rank City Lords, it will cause countless troubles. Should anyone break the isolation arrays and teleport freely, the Great Wall would become mere decoration, shaking the residents' sense of security and potentially sparking a crisis.
In truth, Reslin also felt helpless.
It was his own oversight.
The Eight-ring Key of Doors let him ignore all barriers and anti‑void fields; having arrived in Albert Bay only moments earlier, he hadn't noticed the Great Wall's function and walked straight into the city. When he emerged from the portal at the hunter's dock, passersby assumed he was teleporting within the city, so no one paid attention.
Until he and Yizite teleported out to look for Dao En Sosi and noticed Yizite's odd expression, he realized what had happened.
But it was already too late to conceal.
Fortunately, dark elves aren't talkative and can keep secrets, so Reslin felt a bit relieved. Sharing secrets can bridge gaps; Dao En Sosi is trustworthy, so he stopped hiding.
Dao En Sosi nodded heavily, "I understand."
He increasingly felt that Reslin was inscrutable, shrouded in layers of mist, unfathomable.
Yizite walked through the courtyard, opened the door, and warmly invited, "This is my home, Dao En Sosi, please come in for a cup of tea."
"It's an honor," the Savage Priest gladly replied.
The four sat in the dark elf's tea room; Dao En Sosi raved about the tea, offering insightful commentary, clearly well‑versed in tea ceremony, and was instantly taken by Yizite as a kindred spirit.
Asina also showed keen interest and joined the discussion.
Only Reslin sat there silent as a wooden figure; unless he occasionally lifted the cup, others would think he had fallen asleep.
Only when night fell did Dao En Sosi rise to take his leave.
"I'm heading to Oke Lan to submit the extermination report and claim the reward," the Savage Priest announced his itinerary, then asked, "Yizite, when will the other teammate arrive?"
"He went out hunting monsters, finished early, and is hurrying back to Albert Bay; he'll be back by tomorrow at the latest," Yizite replied. "When he returns, the five of us will be gathered and we can go over the plan together; please review it."
Dao En Sosi nodded, "Then I'll come back tomorrow."
He turned to leave, but a teleportation portal opened before him, leading directly to the street outside Oke Lan City Hall.
"Thank you." Dao En Sosi glanced at Reslin, then, his towering frame, walked through.
Asina also stood up, "We'll head back as well."
She and Reslin teleported back to the guest room of Jinmen Inn, ordered the servant to bring a lavish dinner, then turned and saw Reslin again seated behind the desk, already eyes closed, entering meditation.
"This guy!"
The female giant wore a helpless expression, sat on the bedside and looked at the Reslin who was both familiar and strange.
She had also been greatly shocked today; Reslin was clearly Lei En's avatar, yet the feeling she got was vastly different, even the personality differed, as if he were a completely different person.
The biggest commonality between Reslin and Lei En is that both hide many secrets.
But those are irrelevant.
The most important thing is that she has been away from Lei En for over a week, suddenly feeling a bit unadjusted, especially at night, missing the pleasure of being with Lei En, which she can't resist yet feels embarrassed to tell Reslin.
Although they spend day and night together, sharing a room, A Xina has no such thoughts toward Reslin.
Such a thing is too strange; neither side can accept it.
Moreover, Reslin's body is too frail, with almost no stamina; a few steps make him gasp. If she accidentally brushes him lightly at close range, Reslin could break bones or even be mortally wounded.
"Um…"
Thinking of this, A Xina couldn't help but laugh.
Reslin opened his eyes, saw her expression, and asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing," A Xina said, cheeks slightly flushed, changing the subject: "It's late night over at Ge La Mo Gen, right?"
Reslin saw through her thoughts at a glance and laughed, "Missing me?"
"Yes… uh, not exactly…" the female giant nodded, then shook her head. She knew Lei En was speaking to her, but looking at Reslin's face felt awkward. Then she saw Reslin's body instantly change, replaced by Lei En sitting behind the desk.
"Lei En?"
A Xina was both shocked and delighted, unable to believe her eyes.
"Hehe… if you miss me, just say it, don't be shy." Wearing pajamas, Lei En stood up. He had been busy until late night; Viola hadn't come to Ge La Mo Gen tonight. Just as he was about to sleep, he sensed the situation on Reslin's side, decisively swapped positions, and appeared in the inn's guest room.
"So you've been here all along," A Xina chided, just now realizing Lei En and Reslin could exchange positions.
Then she exclaimed, "What are you going to do?"
Lei En emerged from behind the desk, having already removed his pajamas, revealing a strong physique, and said with a grin, "What do you say? Let's not waste time and get straight to the point."
The female giant's cheeks flushed, yet she offered no resistance.
Intense sounds quickly filled the guest room, as if a swarm of mosquitoes had flown in, with someone repeatedly slapping them in a rhythmic, nonstop clatter.
Mo Du, in Ge La Mo Gen Castle, Reslin had already opened his phone interface.
Rows of icons lit up before his eyes, each representing an Arcane Element, simultaneously corresponding to the myriad stars reflected in the Lake of Stars within his mind.
He is a Wizard; most spells are built from his own models.
Only a small portion, the Mystic Touch, was inherited from Lei En's original self when he first became an avatar. All spell icons combined have already exceeded one hundred!
That means over a hundred spells.
Under normal circumstances, Legendary High-rank Wizards or Wizards, even Naiser School wizards who value quantity of spells, possess only half as many spells as Reslin. This is despite Reslin having been promoted to Legendary for less than three years; otherwise his spell count would be several times higher.
However, Reslin, who masters so many spells, does not fully endorse the Naiser School doctrine.
He is not a supporter of the Mo Du School's principle of few but refined spells.
Both have pros and cons, hard to rank; the root of their ideological difference lies in limited mana or soul power, preventing a wizard from mastering both.
Reslin's answer is simple: I want it all!
He wants to both, like Naiser School wizards, wield countless spells—more is better, with versatile casting styles for any contingency—and like Mo Du School wizards, refine mastered spells to the utmost, unleashing maximal power and effect.
Combining the two doctrines reaches a level unimaginable to other casters, becoming an all‑round Wizard.
"One thousand energy units."
"Enough to upgrade many spells…"
Reslin barely needed to think; most of his spells are at the initial ring level, but for the upcoming hunt of the Baro Flame Demon plan, he must first make targeted upgrades.
Light Spear, Tim Kainan Demon Sword Technique, Vector Shield, Rainbow Light Cloak, Protective Flame, Dimensional Anchor, Disintegrate, Dispel Magic, Anti-Magic Ray, Spell Counter, Space-Time Shock, Void Chains, Stagnant Force Field, Space Seal, Bigbai Shatter Fist, Jumping in Fire, Greater Teleport…
He upgraded these spells by one to two rings, and his soul power pool was instantly depleted.
Legendary High-rank casters can master Eight-Ring Spell, but many spells cap at six or seven rings; extra energy is useless.
Additionally, Reslin also knows some support spells, such as Giant Strength and Acceleration, both upgradable to seven rings, advancing to corresponding higher spells that can greatly boost teammates' combat power.
But the energy is exhausted, so he must wait for the next soul absorption.
A moment later, the upgrades were complete.
Lei En and A Xina's battle was at its peak and wouldn't end soon; Reslin blocked the mosquito‑slapping sounds and quickly entered meditation.
By the latter half of the night, his mana had fully recovered.
He felt no drowsiness and began constructing a Time Stop spell model within the Lake of Stars. Time slipped by unnoticed; at dawn, Lei En and Reslin swapped positions. A Xina, who had fought all night, slept until noon, and upon seeing Reslin in the room, her face showed a hint of shyness.
After washing up, the two left looking radiant, directly teleporting to Yizite's house, where they found three people present.
"You're here!"
The Dark Elf stood up in the living room to greet them, smiling, "Let me introduce you: this is my friend Beilake, who just rushed back to Albert Bay this morning; the people for this plan have finally gathered."
A stranger transcendent stood beside Yizite.
Reslin glanced at him with his Soul Eye, surprised, thinking silently, "What transcendent profession is he—Sun Knight? Gunner? Or Ranger?"
