Chapter 695: Blood Knight
The moment Reslin saw Porarise, he was first startled, then his complexion darkened, and flames lit up his eyes.
At once, the temperature in the reception hall surged, as if stepping into a scorching summer.
Countess Lifulin and two blood elf wizards sensed that the human wizard before them became extremely dangerous in an instant, like standing at the brink of an erupting volcano, and that a second later they would be reduced to ash.
They had only felt this sensation on the Grand Mage within their clan, and it was terrifying.
The few human wizards who had just been brought in were also greatly startled.
"Reslin."
Porarise called out.
Her star‑like eyes were full of delight, but only happiness and joy, not the kind of hope for salvation seen in a calamity.
Moreover, Porarise bore no wounds, her spirit was full, and she was in good condition.
The other wizards were also fine.
This made Reslin realize he had misread the situation; his anger faded instantly, the flames vanished, and the surrounding temperature returned to normal.
The whole process lasted less than half a second, yet it made everyone else nervous.
The three blood elves realized they had still underestimated Reslin's power; Countess Lifulin examined the young wizard, shocked yet also a little fearful. The other two blood elf wizards wore complex expressions, and as casters themselves, they sensed Reslin's terrifying nature more clearly than others.
"I need an explanation," Reslin said calmly.
His voice was soft, yet it made the three legendary blood elves feel immense pressure.
Oukule hurriedly explained, "Please do not misunderstand, Lady Polaris and several wizards are guests of the Santara Residence; the blood elves not only did not act against them, they even saved their lives."
"Oh?"
Reslin looked at Porarise and saw her nod slightly.
His Soul Eye swept over the other wizards; besides Porarise there were six more, and he instantly recognized two or three of them from before.
He recalled that all six were Weizelan Wizards.
His original self, Lei En, had previously seen them in Weizelan; at that time they claimed various excuses to leave, but were actually on Shield Island helping build the Xinxiang Floating City, and never returned. That group of wizards numbered over seventy; everyone in Weizelan thought they had all perished at the hands of the Cataclysm Legion, sacrificed to the Lord of the Dead during the war over Fu Kong Cheng.
No one expected there to be survivors.
Reslin recognized them, but the six wizards did not recognize Reslin.
Seeing Reslin's Weizelan emblem on his chest, they were both shocked and amazed, wondering when Weizelan had produced such a powerful wizard again.
Porarise said, "Reslin, Weimdu and the others escaped from the Cataclysm Legion, and when they were being pursued to Aibolaken, Countess Lifulin and her people rescued them; they have been living in the Santara Residence for these past few years."
Reslin nodded; he had already guessed.
"And you?"
He gazed at the stunningly beautiful witch; even among the famously beautiful blood elves, her looks were the most dazzling.
Porarise had left Weizelan for less than three months, saying she would travel and adventure to seek a chance to ascend to legend.
But she is still a ninth‑rank wizard.
"I came to Shield Island to trace clues in search of the Xinxiang Floating City, and when I passed Aibolaken I encountered a legendary tomb spider demon, almost being killed; fortunately a noble blood elf friend intervened in time and saved my life," Porarise said, her face full of lingering fear as she cast grateful glances at the three blood elves.
However, his Soul Eye saw that she was lying.
Reslin did not expose Porarise's lie; he instantly realized she wasn't lying to him, but to conceal the truth from the blood elves.
Thus, he played along with Porarise, rose and bowed, "On behalf of Weizelan, I thank the blood elves for their lifesaving grace; it is etched in my heart and will be repaid."
Countess Lifulin nodded slightly, "Lord Reslin, your words are weighty."
The two legendary blood elf wizards also breathed a sigh of relief. If they had angered Reslin, he alone would have been terrifying, let alone his teammates outside: three Legendary High-rank and a Saint Rank Demonic Hunter, enough to destroy the Santara Residence.
"Lady, may I speak with them privately?" Reslin asked.
"Of course, be my guest."
Countess Lifulin gladly agreed, "I have arranged for the guests to meet you, that is the intention." She turned to the humans, "If you wish to leave with Lord Reslin, you may go now."
The six Weizelan Wizards smiled, bowed, and said, "Thank you, Countess."
The female elf personally escorted Reslin and the others out the doorway.
"Oukule, later please see to Lord Reslin's departure for me; you need not report back."
"Yes, Countess."
After giving the order, Lifulin returned; Oukule opened a portal and sent Reslin and six others to a courtyard, but did not follow.
Reslin scanned the area; the elven courtyard was not far from Lifulin's residence, the surroundings were pleasant, much like the blood elves' homes, and there were no blood elf guards. Porarise led everyone into the room and said to Reslin, "This is where we live."
"The blood elves haven't restricted your freedom?" Reslin asked, frowning.
"No," a male wizard nearing forty replied, "Countess Lifulin allows us to move freely within the Santara Residence, provides lodging and food, and we may consult their wizards for magical knowledge, but we cannot leave the Santara Residence."
His name was Weimdu, whose strength was second only to Porarise; among the six surviving wizards he was the strongest, just one step away from legend.
Weimdu clearly bore no grudge against the blood elves, and neither did the other wizards.
Reslin could understand this.
In any case, the blood elves saved their lives, provided food and shelter, and the Santara Residence's conditions were not far inferior to Fu Kong Cheng; the reason for not allowing them to leave was also reasonable.
"Lord Reslin, we have not yet consulted you," Weimdu asked the question that all the wizards wanted to ask.
Porarise replied for him, "Reslin, like me, is also a student of the teacher."
"Lei En, the Chairman's student!"
All six wizards wore expressions of disbelief.
When they left Weizelan, Lei En had just arrived at Mo Du, still only a sixth‑rank wizard, and was on the opposite side of them.
Though not enemies, they were certainly not friends.
Over two months earlier, Porarise entered the Santara Residence, bringing news about Weizelan's Floating City, naturally including Lei En's deeds of recent years, which shocked them; at first they thought Porarise was spouting nonsense.
Then Porarise proved her words with her strength.
While in Weizelan, these wizards had all heard of Lady Polaris's reputation and had seen her; in just a few years she rose from a novice wizard to such formidable strength, and she claimed it was all thanks to Lei En's teachings.
Now another student of Lei En has emerged, a Legendary High-rank Wizard, and even Countess Li Fulin is very polite in his presence; the two powerful blood elf mages are even more cautious.
This made them think they were dreaming!
Could the world outside have changed after being trapped in the Santara Residence for years?
Reslin ignored their feelings and asked directly, "Did you take part in building the Fu Kong Cheng, and have you obtained any clues to track it?"
The Wizards wore ashamed expressions, and Wei Mo Duo sighed, "We think about reclaiming the Fu Kong Cheng all the time, especially after hearing Lady Polaris say that the Heavenly Disaster Legion used the Fu Kong Cheng to attack Weizelan, causing such massive casualties that we can't even sleep."
"For these past two months, we've been constantly recalling how things were back then."
"But unfortunately, the ones who led the construction of the Fu Kong Cheng were Master Lu Yin and Speaker Mo Dela, along with several Legendary Wizards; we were only assistants and couldn't participate in the core control room of the Fu Kong Cheng."
"We are very sorry about that, sir."
All six Wizards lowered their heads, unwilling to meet Reslin's gaze.
"It's not your fault," Reslin said soothingly. He hadn't had much hope to begin with; these people were only High-rank Wizards, hardly able to meddle with the Fu Kong Cheng's core, as such profound magical knowledge was too difficult for them.
"Peralysis and I have a few words to say; you all go out first."
"Yes, sir."
The Wizards exited the room.
Reslin raised his hand and released a Soundproof Force Field; he had already checked upon entering that there were no surveillance spells in the room. Looking at Peralysis, he said calmly, "Speak, what's going on? You weren't supposed to travel abroad, so why did you end up at Aibolaken?"
Even without the Soul Eye, he could sense some clues.
Given Peralysis's strength, a mere Legendary Beginner-level Tomb Spider Demon could not possibly trap her, so there must be other hidden reasons.
"As expected, I can't hide it from you, Reslin." Peralysis's face broke into a smile, like a hundred flowers blooming, filling the room with spring.
At this moment, she was completely different from how she appeared before others, utterly relaxed.
"Finding clues to the New Homeland Floating City is my purpose of adventure," Peralysis said very seriously.
"Overestimating yourself." Reslin shook his head.
The Naxas Floating City fell into the hands of the Heavenly Disaster Legion; inside are countless Undead Army, a Death Lord stationed there, and Liches bound by death‑knot sigils—there are already two Holy Soul Liches, and there may even be demigod Liches. Peralysis is not even a Legendary, making her essentially a death sentence.
Even merely tracing clues is extremely dangerous.
Peralysis seemed not to have heard Reslin's words and continued, "I left Weizelan, teleported straight to the New Continent, detoured through the southern canal of the continent, followed a soul‑hunting fleet northward, and arrived at Shield Island."
"After searching near Shield Island for half a month, I discovered a group of blood elves, deliberately put myself in danger so they would rescue me and bring me into the Santara Residence."
"I just didn't expect that this place only allows entry, not exit."
Reslin, hearing this, remarked, "Playing clever."
Peralysis was not angry; she smiled charmingly, her beautiful face full of confidence, "Even if you, Reslin, don't come, I'm confident I can get out."
"How to get out?" Reslin guessed.
"In these two months at the Santara Residence I made some blood elf friends and learned their backgrounds; exiting through their connections is not difficult."
Reslin let out a helpless laugh; beautiful women always know how to use this advantage.
With Peralysis's beauty and wisdom, blood elves would fall under her pomegranate skirt even without her asking; they might voluntarily let her leave.
He no longer cared about that and asked, "Have you found any clues to the Fu Kong Cheng?"
"Not yet," Peralysis's cunning eyes flickered, "but during my two‑plus months at the Santara Residence I learned a very important secret concerning the blood elves; are you interested to know?"
"If you want to say it, just say it." Reslin maintained his persona.
The beautiful witch sat down as if to have a long talk, and said pointedly, "If the teacher were here, he would certainly be interested in this matter. Moreover, if used properly, it might greatly aid the search for the Fu Kong Cheng."
"Hm?" Reslin raised an eyebrow.
Peralysis kept observing Reslin, and seeing his expression change, she slightly lifted the corner of her mouth and continued, "Did you see those blood elf warriors?"
"Saw them."
"They are a newly developed blood elf profession that wields an energy called 'blood crystal power', which can comprehensively boost physical strength, defense and resistance, and can even be used to heal wounds, purge toxins and curses," Peralysis explained methodically.
"These blood elves who master blood crystal power are called 'Blood Knights.'"
"Blood Knights were born over 150 years ago, and now they are an emerging new force among the blood elves. They formed the 'Blood Knight Order', and Countess Li Fulin was the first Blood Knight, the most powerful, and of noble birth, naturally becoming the Order's leader."
She paused, a mysterious look on her face, and asked, "Reslin, don't you find the Blood Knights' power somewhat familiar?"
"You're referring to Holy Light Power, aren't you?" Reslin blurted out.
Peralysis's beautiful eyes widened in astonishment, "How did you know?"
"Heh." Reslin glanced at her, "I could tell. These Blood Knights wield a twisted Holy Light Power that has serious flaws; I suspect it's related to mental issues."
The witch instantly felt a deep sense of frustration.
She rarely got to show off in front of Reslin, but never expected that Reslin seemed to already know everything.
Reslin smiled to himself, "What exactly are the Blood Knights' flaws? Tell me."
"Um…" Peralysis hesitated, then replied, "My conjecture is that blood crystal power is not cultivated by the blood elves themselves, but transplanted into their bodies by some method and then gradually refined. This energy has a side effect that periodically gives Blood Knights headaches; the stronger they are, the more severe the headaches, and the cycle shortens."
"Spiritual spells can only slightly lessen the headache; each Blood Knight suffers this mental torment long‑term. Some with insufficient Willpower even develop a blood addiction, like vampires, needing to drink fresh human blood to relieve it."
"Thus, Blood Knights are heavily questioned among the blood elves and have not received the Regent King's approval."
Reslin's mind cleared; so that's why.
He looked at Peralysis, "This is an internal matter of the blood elves; what does it have to do with us? It also can't help you find clues to the Fu Kong Cheng."
"I thought the same before," the witch replied dismissively, "but I inadvertently discovered an item that can solve the Blood Knights' headache problem."
Reslin's eyes flashed.
He linked these matters in his mind, vaguely guessed, and asked, "What is it?"
Peralysis produced a crystal bottle filled with golden‑like magical elixir.
Reslin was intimately familiar with this potion; it was the "Sunlight Blood" forged from the divine flesh of a sun‑spotted viper.
