Chapter 714: Teleportation Waypoint

~13 min read 2,425 words

Getan?

The others pondered for a while, but still didn't understand what it meant.

Kuilu, being a Grand Mage, was erudite and fluent in over a dozen languages, yet she couldn't recall which allusion it came from, and she couldn't help asking, "Does this name have any special meaning?"

Lei En almost laughed out loud, but kept a straight face as he explained, "Getan is a colloquialism from my hometown, meaning 'the people are simple and honest.' I hope that after the cities on Shield Island are built, the residents of Getan can be friendly to one another, fostering a wholesome social atmosphere, and in such a good environment nurture many talents."

"What a beautiful wish!"

Kuilu's eyes brightened, and she said delightedly, "If that's truly the case, then it would be the ideal homeland for Ilyas's followers, and I look forward to seeing it realized one day."

Yizite also showed a look of yearning on his face.

"We will all see it."

Lei En nodded, satisfied with his own twisted amusement, and quickly changed the subject: "I have just hired a dwarf engineering team to construct a combat Wizard school, which will be finished soon. When that time comes, I will renegotiate a contract with them to have them build Getan on the New Continent."

"That would be great!"

Kuilu and Yizite were both very excited; Lei En's handling of affairs was extremely efficient.

Lei En, however, felt a bit mentally exhausted and rubbed his forehead a few times.

He already had many tasks at hand, and now he also had to build a city, so the workload more than doubled. Constructing a city is entirely different from a school or a fortress; the scale differs by dozens, even hundreds of times, and just the preliminary planning takes several months, which is already considered fast.

Moreover, it was still uncertain whether the dwarf engineering team would take on this project.

Traveling tens of thousands of miles to the New Continent is extremely hazardous, the scale is huge, and many complex factors must be considered; the contract amount involves tens of millions of Gold Shields, and just the negotiations would take a long time.

Such a massive undertaking is not something the dwarf engineering team can decide on.

Perhaps he would have to go to Zhigao Shan in person.

Preliminary planning, terrain surveying, fund gathering, material procurement, personnel arrangement, and so on, plus the most crucial transportation issue. How to get so many people to the New Continent—including the dwarf engineering team and the Transcendent Legion, at least two or three thousand people—cannot all use a super long‑range teleportation array, right?

Even the teleportation cost for personnel alone is unaffordable, let alone transporting building materials.

"Don't get too excited yet; we have many tasks ahead," Lei En voiced these concerns, and the two Zhuoer expressed their understanding.

Kuilu also understood how hard city building is, and said, "Lei En, just proceed at your own pace and inform me before construction starts. I can use this time to gather the brothers and sisters from the various Zhuoer cities in the Dark Realm and add them to the construction crew."

"Ilyas's followers will not sit back and reap the benefits; they will certainly devote all their effort to the new homeland."

The beautiful face of the Moon Dancer was filled with sincerity.

"Fine."

Lei En was pleased with Kuilu's response; he stroked his chin and said, "I had previously planned to start construction in half a year, so you should gather the manpower according to that timeline."

"Half a year?" Kuilu nodded, "That's enough."

Lei En couldn't help but glance at her.

Earlier Kuilu had said she only learned of her party's news a few days ago, rushed to Mosuobulai only to find nothing, inquired of Taibailun, then caught up and ran ahead to wait.

Now she can also guarantee that within half a year she will contact the Zhuoer in each city.

It should be noted that the Dark Realm contains over a dozen Zhuoer cities, spread across the Upper and Middle layers, with a total area equivalent to half of the New Continent. Even if one knows the routes well, without teleportation, merely traveling between the cities would consume a great amount of time.

This shows that she possesses a method for rapid movement within the Dark Realm.

"Ms. Kuilu, how did you get ahead of us?" Lei En didn't want to beat around the bush and asked directly.

The beautiful female Zhuoer smiled, "I have my own method."

"Can you tell us?" Lei En asked, "Our destination is the lower‑layer Spirit-absorbing Monster city Yilaientu; if we can get there quickly, we could save more than half a month."

"You're going to Yilaientu?"

Kuilu was surprised; after receiving Lei En's confirming reply, she thought for a few seconds, and a thin booklet appeared in her hand. It was only a dozen or so pages thick, looked very ancient, with curled, worn edges, clearly frequently consulted.

"The Dark Realm extends deep underground; the vast majority of space is occupied by rocks and soil of unmeasurable weight, which warp the area and affect the precision of teleportation spells. The farther the distance, the greater the deviation, and a slip can cause a teleportation accident, resulting in death on the spot."

Lei En was also well aware of what she said.

Long‑range teleportation within the Dark Realm is a major challenge; even probing with a teleportation gate yields a very low success rate—hundreds of attempts may not yield a single stable gate.

Kuilu continued speaking while opening the booklet in her hand.

Lei En saw rows upon rows of runic incantations, with pauses every few lines, looking extremely intricate, like a celestial script.

Ordinary people might not understand what was written at all, but he recognized it at a glance.

It's a teleportation waypoint!

Kuilu smiled proudly, "However, teleportation is actually possible within the Dark Realm, but it requires precise teleportation waypoints for assistance. To facilitate travel, I spent over a hundred years traversing most of the Dark Realm, locating more than five hundred stable spots, and buried a Guide Stone containing a teleportation waypoint at each location."

"A Guide Stone is like a signpost, guiding our teleportation."

"As long as we master the waypoint in each Guide Stone and connect the two endpoints, teleportation becomes extremely safe, almost impossible to err."

"Even with some deviation, there is no danger to life."

"Some Guide Stones are close together, others far apart, not fixed. My arrangement covers about seventy percent of the known Dark Realm, focusing on the Upper and Middle layers. You can choose the nearest teleportation waypoint, cast a teleportation spell to the designated spot, then proceed to the next location."

Lei En and the others listened with great admiration; this was undoubtedly a genius idea.

But it also requires a massive amount of time to complete; even those Guide Stones alone are valuable, and only a Grand Mage proficient in teleportation spells can accomplish it.

Over five hundred Guide Stones form a vast teleportation network; mastering this network allows unhindered travel within the Dark Realm!

Its importance is easy to imagine.

Lei En could use a MutatedPhone to covertly copy this booklet that records the teleportation waypoints, but he didn't.

He wouldn't dare to freeload on years of others' hard work.

Kuilu turned the page and continued, "Yilaientu is in the lower layer of the Dark Realm, a very remote location that most people have never heard of. However, your luck is good; I visited there many years ago and also placed a Guide Stone nearby. Let me check."

"Got it."

She quickly found the desired result, performed rapid calculations, and smiled, "Using my Guide Stones, twelve teleportations will get us to that spot; it's only half a day's journey from Yilaientu."

"Great!" Yizite exclaimed with joy.

The teammates were also pleased; after more than twenty days in the Dark Realm, they were weary of the lightless underground world and just wanted to finish and leave early.

Kuilu looked at Lei En, "Shall I send you there, or tell you the teleportation waypoints along the way so you can go by yourselves?"

"Please see us off, madam," Lei En answered at once.

He really wants to obtain these teleport waymarkers, but not by this cheap method, and getting only twelve waymarkers isn't very useful.

If you want them, you must get them all, and obtain them honorably.

"Fine."

Kuilu was pleased with Lei En's discernment. She closed the book, looked around, and said, "If everyone has rested enough, we set off now."

Lei En stood up, saluted her, and then swapped Reslin back.

Kuilu looked at Reslin's form, couldn't help shaking her head in admiration, "What a marvelous duplication spell; even over such a distance it can instantly exchange positions."

She was a bit curious, and asked, "Could you reveal what spell it is?"

"Sorry, madam," Reslin declined.

Kuilu was a little disappointed but understood, so she stopped probing, raised her hand to cast, and a burst of magical light flared before her, quickly forming a portal.

She stepped in first.

Reslin and the teammates followed through the portal, finding themselves in a dim cave, in a remote corner of it.

The All-Seeing Eye looked down, tracing the faint magical currents to a silver stone.

It was cast into a regular polyhedral column, about the size of a head, its surface etched with Arcane runes, and a dense sigil array extended inward.

This must be the guide stone.

The whole guide stone lay half a meter beneath the ground; as the portal closed, the magical currents quickly subsided, giving off no trace, as if fully merged with the void. Moreover, it automatically draws faint energy from the void, so it doesn't need the frequent upkeep of a teleport array, saving both cost and effort, and can last for several hundred years, even one or two thousand.

"What a clever technique!" Reslin thought to himself.

From his experience, he'd never heard of guide stones before; either Kuilu invented them, or as a Chosen One of the God of Magic, she received the goddess's instruction.

On the surface, one naturally has no use for guide stones.

However, in the outer planes and the Abyss, many regions' space is as unstable as the Dark Realm, and indeed, long‑range teleportation is the exception. In those environments, guide stones are equally useful, and the teleport network they form holds great strategic value.

In the future, we must trade with Kuilu to obtain the method of making guide stones!

Kuilu flipped through the waymarkers in the book and opened the portal again.

Each teleport destination has a guide stone hidden underground, extremely hard to locate. The space where a guide stone resides is very stable; its stable zone is tiny, appearing no different from the surroundings, making the search akin to finding a needle in a sea, showing how much effort Kuilu invested.

Reslin judged from Kuilu's portals that the teleport distances varied erratically, with no pattern.

One time, two times, three times…

Kuilu kept opening portals, letting everyone swiftly cross the void.

Shortly after, the twelfth teleport completed.

The group appeared in a scorching cave; a few hundred meters ahead a river of lava flowed, dark‑red magma pools bubbling, the hazy air filled with a toxic sulfur smell, and within seconds they were sweating profusely.

"We've arrived."

Kuilu raised an icy shield to block the heat and said, "I have few guide stones in the lower Dark Realm, only about thirty in total; this one is the closest to Yilaientu, just a half‑day's journey away."

As she spoke, she casually cast Water Bubble Technique on everyone, making them feel much more comfortable.

"Thank you for the teleport, madam," Reslin expressed gratitude.

"It's a trivial matter."

Kuilu waved her hand, then grew serious, "I know little about the Spirit-absorbing Monster city, but from previous encounters the Spirit-absorbing Monsters are definitely evil beings, hostile to outsiders."

"Their origins are highly mysterious; this is one of the Dark Realm's greatest secrets."

"In my judgment, the Spirit-absorbing Monster city is far more dangerous than Zor City; without a compelling reason, I advise you not to risk it."

The Moon Dance Girl showed goodwill.

She hoped Lei En would build Gotham City, not wanting to see Lei En fail, nor Yizite and these others die mysteriously.

The teammates all looked at Reslin.

They still don't understand Lei En's reason for seeking the Spirit-absorbing Monster city.

Reslin murmured a few times, and now no longer needed to conceal, saying truthfully, "The Spirit-absorbing Monster city contains the magic soul I need; I must obtain it."

"What magic soul?" Kuilu asked.

"I can't be certain, but over ninety percent it's the Spirit-absorbing Monster's core brain," Reslin said, not closing the matter, as he couldn't just claim it came from a prophecy technique.

"Spirit-absorbing Monster core brain!"

The teammates were hearing of such a creature for the first time, not understanding why Lei En wanted its magic soul.

"You're actually after the Spirit-absorbing Monster core brain," Kuilu said, very surprised, clearly knowing what it was, shaking her head, "The core brain is the heart of the Spirit-absorbing Monster society, governing the whole group's actions, controlling their hierarchy and promotion. If you seek its magic soul, you'll have to face attacks from all the Spirit-absorbing Monsters it controls; do you realize how dangerous that is?"

"I know," Reslin nodded.

Kuilu, seeing he had no intention to change his mind, reminded again, "The Spirit-absorbing Monster city may have Saint Rank spellcasters; those mentalists are no less powerful than Grand Mages."

Reslin understood her goodwill, "I will act cautiously, won't put everyone at risk; at the crucial moment I will face it alone."

"You alone?" Kuilu sized him up.

Reslin said calmly, "I possess Truth Willpower."

Kuilu's expression stiffened briefly, then she shook her head, "No wonder you're so confident; Truth Willpower truly counters mental arts. That puts me at ease, let's go."

The others didn't grasp her meaning.

"Since we're near Yilaientu, I'll accompany you," Kuilu laughed brightly, "Coincidentally, I've always been curious about the Spirit-absorbing Monster city, so I'll take this chance to see it."

Yizite and the others were extremely pleased; having a Grand Mage accompany them would undoubtedly make it much safer.

Reslin instantly felt a surge of confidence.

With Kuilu's strength, the goal of acquiring the Spirit-absorbing Monster core brain this time is now secure!
