Chapter 778: Assault on Mosuobulai

~12 min read 2,368 words

Upper region of the Dark Realm.

In the cave where the Obsidian Tower stands, squads of Holy Lance Knights line up neatly on the open ground beneath the tower; the blood elves sit upright on their bronze steeds, clad in enchanted armor, wielding Avenger 47 in both hands, bearing longswords, with a row of grenades hanging from their tactical belts.

They form squads of twenty, five squads per regiment.

In each squad, four blood elves carry different weapons: two Lambo spears and two Rocket Launchers, giving them a clearly higher combat edge.

This is a battalion of the Holy Spear Knight Corps, composed entirely of elite blood knights.

Camp commander Vandu Si stands before the ranks, while five Thundercast Celestial Soldiers each lead their own regiment; the atmosphere is solemn, and many blood elves, affected by it, show a hint of tension on their faces.

Although they have undergone over two months of training, fully mastered the new weapons, honed the new tactics, and have already endured many battles and life‑and‑death trials, on the eve of combat they still cannot help but feel a degree of worry.

Moreover, this is the Dark Realm, and it is said the enemy this time are Dark Elves.

Those evil and dangerous Zor!

At that moment, several beams of light fell from the tower, revealing three figures.

One is a tall, strong young human, clad in mithril light armor, with a blood‑red great cloak draped behind; his expression is gentle, but when the blood elves see him, they instantly straighten, feeling awe.

Lord Ryan Augustus, the sovereign to whom all Holy Lance Knights owe allegiance.

Another, slightly shorter, stunningly beautiful and resolute, also rides a taller bronze steed; the blood elves cast admiring glances at her. She is the commander of the Holy Spear Knight Corps, Countess Lifulin Light Song.

The last is a dwarf.

Blood elves have always despised dwarves, yet they dare not look down on this dwarf, for he is a powerful King of the Hills.

Lifulin lightly squeezes the horse's belly, and the bronze steed sprouts massive wings, lifting into the air so all blood elves can see her.

"Knights all."

Lifulin's cool voice rang out, her gaze sweeping over the blood elves as she said, "We have pledged loyalty to the lord for nearly three months; the lord gave us Sunlight Blood, relieving our headaches and greatly increasing our strength; the lord gave us new weapons, making our combat power stronger than before; the lord gave us mounts, allowing us to soar in the sky; the lord also gave us a new home, so we no longer have to wander in exile. And what can we give the lord in return?"

Each word she spoke struck the blood elves' hearts like a heavy hammer, evoking deep gratitude.

The final question made them feel a tinge of shame.

Lifulin, without waiting for a response, shouted loudly, "Only glory, loyalty, and life are what we can give to the lord. Now, the time has come."

"Glory belongs to the blood elves!"

"Loyalty belongs to the Holy Spear Knight Corps!"

"Life belongs to Ryan Augustus!"

Each time Lifulin shouted, the blood elves answered with an even louder voice.

When they proclaimed that glory belongs to Ryan Augustus, their blood boiled, battle spirit flared, and emotions were fully roused. At that moment, even if Lei En ordered them to die, the Holy Spear Knight Corps would obey without hesitation.

Lei En couldn't help but look at Lifulin with new respect; she has a knack for stirring hearts, no wonder she can make countless blood elves swear to follow her to death.

Kestajin's expression shifted slightly, muttering a few words. After learning Lei En's purpose, he strongly requested that the Three‑Hammer Legion also send troops, but Lei En refused. Now, seeing the Holy Spear Knight Corps' formidable power, the King of the Hills felt Lei En was favoring the blood elves even more.

Lifulin gave a questioning look, and Lei En nodded slightly.

"Depart!"

At the command, the bronze steeds rose in squads, soaring into the upper hall of the Obsidian Tower.

Reslin opened a passage on the tower's protective field; the hall's teleport array activated, and the Holy Lance Knights streamed through the portal, emerging in a dim cave. Meanwhile, Thundercast Celestial Soldiers opened several dimensional doors leading outside the stone wall.

Each teleport gate could accommodate only one squad of Holy Lance Knights at a time, and the dimensional doors' duration was limited.

It took over ten minutes for the entire camp to be transferred.

The whole process proceeded without a single disorder; five hundred Holy Lance Knights remained silent, only the faint rustle of the bronze steeds' hooves could be heard, showing their training.

Lei En, Lifulin, and Kestajin arrived last, emerging from the stone wall.

Two squads of towering Extreme Warriors followed them.

As Lei En's most powerful legion, the Extreme Warriors were only a reserve this time; they would intervene only if the Holy Spear Knight Corps performed poorly.

Everyone looked up to see the Holy Lance Knights riding their mounts, hovering in the cave's midair. To avoid leaving footprints that might reveal the teleport array's location, the Thundercast Celestial Soldiers ordered everyone to fly.

The first regiment that arrived already flew outward, scouting ahead.

This is the middle tier of the Dark Realm, east of Mosuobulai, the largest Dark Elf city, a half‑day's journey away.

This time the Holy Spear Knight Corps' battalion deployed, targeting the Dark Elves.

Originally, Lei En, Kuilu, and Yizite agreed that six months later they would rescue Ilyas's followers, the kind Zor, from each Dark Elf city, gather them, and then teleport to Gotham City to settle.

But now the six‑month deadline has passed.

Recently, Lei En received a magical transmission from Kuilu; the rescue of the kind Zor was not proceeding smoothly, encountering trouble in several cities, but she and Yizite resolved the issues with their great power.

The number of Zor willing to go to the surface is far more than expected, now approaching two thousand.

Especially in the populous Mosuobulai, over the past six months, because Yizite and Kuilu repeatedly openly defied Spider Queen Ros's brutal rule, many Zor saw hope, approached voluntarily, becoming Ilyas's followers; priests of the Moonlight Church also gained a number of believers.

However, among these new followers were several traitors, exposing Kuilu's retreat plan.

When the ruling council of Mosuobulai learned this, they immediately launched a city‑wide purge; Kuilu and Yizite slipped into the shadows in time, protecting most of the believers.

But the retreat plan was delayed.

Even the Zor rescued from other cities, hidden in secret outposts outside Mosuobulai, were nearly discovered several times and have been relocated three times.

Now the kind Zor are split into two groups.

One part prepares outside the city to receive them, evading enemy searches; the other is trapped inside, unable to act, unable to find a chance to leave the city.

The longer it drags, the more dangerous the Zor become, so Kuilu had to request aid from Lei En.

Lei En quickly finalized a battle plan.

His plan was simple: directly assault Mosuobulai city, create a massive chaos, allowing Ilyas's followers to escape amid the turmoil.

Attacking a city of over a hundred thousand with five hundred men sounds utterly insane.

Lifulin was initially startled, but upon hearing that Lei En did not truly intend to conquer Mosuobulai, she relaxed. Though she had great confidence in the Holy Spear Knight Corps' strength, she did not want heavy casualties in the legion's first battle.

Reslin knew the way to Mosuobulai, and so did the Thundercast Celestial Soldiers.

Soon after, battle broke out ahead.

A patrol unit of gray lizard cavalry spotted the Holy Spear Knight in the sky; seeing the blood elf on horseback, their eyes instantly turned red, filled with greed and bloodlust, and they launched a charge without hesitation.

Raining down like a storm of bullets to meet those evil Zuoer.

Clack clack clack clack…

After a burst of gunfire, the gray lizard cavalry fell into a pool of blood, their bodies and mounts riddled with blood holes, and they didn't even make it within two hundred meters.

The Thundercast Celestial Soldiers ordered a few Holy Spear Knights to finish the kill and collect the spoils.

Then they pressed on.

Afterwards, at intervals they would encounter patrols dispatched from Mosuobulai City; their response was invariably to capture the surface elves alive and bring them back for slaughter, offering them to Spider Queen Ros. Their fate was always the same: shot dead from a great distance.

Some dark elves tried to flee to report to Mosuobulai, but those running on the ground could never outrun those flying in the sky, and they were quickly caught up and killed.

The Holy Spear Knight Corps marched over the enemy corpses toward Mosuobulai.

Along the way, Lei En noticed that the number of patrols had increased dramatically; evidently, they were searching for the kind Zuoer hiding outside the city.

The closer they got to Mosuobulai, the flatter the terrain became, and the frequency of battles rose.

Outside the city, the mines and fields held many slaves; after the Holy Spear Knight Corps killed the dark elf overseers, they casually freed the slaves, allowing each to flee for their lives.

In just three hours, the Holy Spear Knight Corps reached Mosuobulai.

Emerging from a wide tunnel, the view opened up to a city surrounded by towering walls. In the middle of a massive cavern stood a pillar that held up heaven and earth—the Nabangde'er Time Pillar—its brightness at its peak, radiating red flame that illuminated the entire city, indicating that Mosuobulai was at high noon.

Mosuobulai's city gates were already shut; squads of Zuoer warriors ran along the walls in disarray, caught off guard by the suddenly appearing enemies.

Between the city wall and the cavern wall lay an open expanse hundreds of meters wide.

The Holy Spear Knight Corps emerged from the tunnel, instantly exposed to the eyes of the Zuoer warriors; immediately, the wall erupted with a barrage of God's Curse, filled with profanity and hatred.

"Surface elves!"

"These damned surface elves, they dare enter the Dark Realm, it's a death wish!"

"I will skin them, then ravage them brutally, letting them taste the dual thrill of pain and pleasure—surely delightful, hehehe…"

"Ros is above!"

"Attack!"

A female Zuoer warrior appeared on the ramparts, shouting, "Attack immediately! Shoot these surface elves dead, don't let them approach the wall. Mages, unleash your spells…"

Her command was cut off by gunfire before she could finish.

Clack clack clack…

The Thundercast Celestial Soldiers, having assessed the situation, ordered fire without hesitation.

Camp Commander Fandu Si was the first to strike; he raised his Bolt Gun, aimed at the female Zuoer, and with a boom, blew her head off. Blood and flame swept the surroundings, killing all nearby Zuoer warriors, and the wall descended into chaos.

The Holy Spear Knights had formed their line, and the blood elf at the front pulled the trigger, beginning a sweep.

Flames of fire erupted, countless bullets rained down on the Zuoer atop the wall; any dark elf who failed to duck in time was mostly blown away by bullet heads. Within seconds, most of the Zuoer on the wall were dead, the few who survived huddled behind the wall, faces twisted in terror.

"Activate the protective field quickly!"

"Quick, quick, quick!"

The Zuoer shouted in despair; the Spider Temple in the city flared with light, and the rune sigil etched on the wall was activated.

A gray‑black magical field unfurled.

A hemispherical protective shield swirled with dense shadow energy, enclosing the entire Mosuobulai.

Boom!

Boom…

Almost as the field opened, several Rocket Launcher shells streaked with trailing flame struck the city gate. Deafening explosions echoed through Mosuobulai, and the newly‑formed protective field quivered violently, seeming on the brink of collapse before finally stabilizing.

"What a pity."

"Still a step too late."

The blood elves, seeing the field had not collapsed, felt a bad omen, realizing they had missed the optimal chance to breach the city.

Immediately, they heard the Company Commanders' orders: "Rocket Launchers, continue the bombardment!"

Each company had ten Holy Spear Knights equipped with Rocket Launchers; according to the tactics manual, they could not fire them all at once, but had to stagger attacks to maintain rhythm and suppress the enemy. During the battalion's operation, the companies had to coordinate, never giving the enemy a breather.

Boom! Boom! Boom…

Every second, five shells were launched, all converging from different directions onto the same point—the city gate.

The explosions rang on without end.

The magical field enveloping the city shuddered violently, its surface ripples growing larger like towering waves in a tsunami, never calming.

A batch of Zuoer warriors surged up the wall, re‑filling the defensive line.

The state of the protective shield made these Zuoer warriors turn pale; seeing the surface elves in the sky beyond the city, some trembled, and if not for the Spider Priestess and legendary warriors supervising from behind, they would have fled long ago.

Several figures shot out from the city, coming from the Spider Temple, the Combat Tower, and the Noble District.

Four Zuoer, two men and two women.

They were all Saint Rank strongmen; leading them was the matriarch of Mosuobulai's first family, Matriarch Banrimu, the most powerful Zuoer in the city and also the Divine Chosen of Spider Queen Ros.

The other three Zuoer were Grand Mage Geluofu, over th Level; Martial Arts Chief Daknalun of the Combat Tower, a Zuoer Sword Saint; and the third, Matriarch Maluos Storuoze of the Storuoze family, a twenty‑two‑level Grand Mage.

No one knows how many years Matriarch Banrimu has lived, yet she does not appear aged.

She wore a splendid robe, her exposed dark skin smooth as black jade, still retaining its allure.

Matriarch Banrimu's gaze swept over the Holy Spear Knight Corps outside the city; her eyes seemed ready to burst with fury as she shouted, "Surface elves! Who gave them the nerve to enter the Dark Realm and attack Mosuobulai?"
