Chapter 90: A Sword Decapitates
A single flying hammer killed Te La Weiqi, and Lei En exhaled a long breath, finally eliminating the fallen one.
He was just about to go retrieve his war hammer when he heard Bo Luo Ke's shout.
"Lei En!"
Lei En turned his head and saw Fu Li Da in silver armor slammed by a lava demon hound, crashing heavily to the ground, her long sword slipping from her grasp, armor deformed, she struggled twice but could not rise.
The massive body of the lava demon hound crushed Kai Nieji's mechanical armor, its fangs gaping wildly as it bit, tearing a huge hole that exposed the inner framework.
Bo Luo Ke fought desperately, attacking the lava demon hound.
He had long run out of ammunition, his soul gun nowhere to be found, leaving only a soft sword in his hand, which he slashed into the lava demon hound's body, but could not pose an immediate lethal threat.
Instead, he himself was burned by the flames surrounding the lava demon hound, skin peeled and flesh torn, and he still had to dodge its sharp claws.
Rangers excel in agility and speed but have weak defenses; if caught by the lava demon hound, they would suffer severe injuries even if they survive.
The situation was precarious.
Lei En didn't have time to pick up the war hammer; he turned and launched a charge.
A blur of movement surged forward; the lava demon hound that was biting Kai Nieji had no guard and was instantly knocked away, landing seven or eight meters away and rolling on the ground.
Lei En himself also felt unwell.
The lava demon hound weighed over two thousand pounds, its skin hard and thick, still spewing fire; Lei En felt as if he had slammed into a burning brick wall, the recoil causing a dull ache throughout his body.
"Roar..."
The lava demon hound rolled over and sprang up, staring intently at Lei En, blood like molten lava spilling from its mouth, droplets igniting black smoke on the ground; the flames on its body surged upward as if doused in oil, roaring flames shooting up, and the surrounding temperature rose rapidly.
The Abyssal Gate had already closed, making retreat impossible; it was the last Demon, yet its eyes showed no fear, only greater madness.
Lei En was extremely vigilant, knowing this Demon was fighting desperately.
"Without a weapon, it's hard to fight."
He glanced at the Crushing Ice War Hammer lying in the warehouse corner, too far away for him.
"Use my sword," Kai Nieji, lying on the ground, said in time; his great sword lay nearby, almost at Lei En's feet.
The lava demon hound gave Lei En no time to pick up the great sword, roaring and charging forward.
Its massive body smashed through the demon corpse blocking the path, like a high-speed steam train, raising flames and heat waves, as if to perish together with Lei En.
Lei En's mind shifted quickly, deciding not to clash head‑on with this Demon.
He raised his left hand, soul energy flowing, a burst of colored light blossoming between his fingers.
In the blink of an eye, the lava demon hound lunged forward, opening its mouth to spew a mixture of magma and flame that engulfed Lei En entirely.
Lei En remained unmoved, focusing on his spell, allowing the flames to burn his body.
When the lava demon hound was less than two meters away, he finally completed the incantation, a rainbow‑like beam firing forth, piercing the flames and striking the spot between its two eyes.
"Aoo..."
The lava demon hound let out a howl, a huge hole opening in its massive skull, excruciating pain, and the beam flashed into its eyes, causing blindness; all it saw was a blinding white light.
But its body did not stop, continuing to charge forward.
At the last instant, Lei En rolled to the side, evading the impact, snatched the great sword from the ground, and rose at top speed.
Just then, the blind lava demon hound barreled past him, completely unaware of where the enemy was.
Lei En lifted the hundred‑pound great sword, slashing with all his might.
The sword flash vanished in an instant.
The lava demon hound's entire head was sliced cleanly off, the cut smooth; its massive body, driven by inertia, kept charging forward for several meters before losing balance and collapsing.
Scalding Demon blood gushed from its neck, quickly soaking a large area of the ground.
The warehouse fell silent instantly.
Bo Luo Ke, his whole body badly burned, could no longer hold on and collapsed, gasping heavily; Kai Nieji also could not rise immediately.
For a moment, only Lei En remained standing, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
【5】 He held the great sword, saying nothing.
They held a giant sword, and said nothing.
The battery indicator on his phone surged, continuously absorbing the souls of Te La Weiqi and the lava demon hound—one a Level‑5 Mechanic, the other a Mid-stage Demon—immediately recharging the depleted second‑tier battery gauge, filling it segment by segment until it topped out just over 80%.
"Just another Mid-stage soul and it'll reach Tier Three."
Lei En thought with a hint of regret.
"Hahaha, cough..." Bo Luo Ke, lying on the ground, suddenly burst into laughter, his injuries jolted as he coughed up a large mouthful of blood, yet cheerfully said, "Never thought we'd all survive."
Lei En quickly tossed aside the great sword and went to check Bo Luo Ke's injuries.
"Captain, can you still hold on?"
Bo Luo Ke's condition looked terrifying; almost every part of his body was damaged—first hit by a barrage of minor demon firebombs, his shoulder had at some point been bitten twice by a sulfur hound, and he was further scorched by the lava demon hound's flames.
He loved wearing leather, and the high‑temperature burn fused the charred leather to his skin, a huge mass of mangled flesh and blood, a sight too gruesome to bear.
This was the result of having the Dragon Power Technique active, boosting his magical resistance.
Without the Dragon Power Technique, his injuries would have been even worse.
Bo Luo Ke sat up straight; each movement made him wince in pain, saying, "I'm fine, I won't die. Lei En, go check Fu Li Da right away."
Seeing that he was not in mortal danger, Lei En temporarily left him be.
He charged to Fu Li Da's side, peering through a gap in her helmet; her eyes were still open, clearly conscious, but filled with pain, unable to move.
"I'm stuck," Fu Li Da said hoarsely.
Her armor was severely deformed; what was meant to protect now became a lethal cage, a plate lodged under her ribs, blood streaming nonstop.
If the armor wasn't removed promptly, she would likely bleed to death.
Lei En first helped Fu Li Da remove her helmet, then swiftly inspected, carefully gripping the armor's edge, applying steady force, and with his bare hands snapped the plate, freeing her.
Fu Li Da let out a muffled hum, her complexion as pale as paper.
At that moment, Kai Nieji regained his strength; the front of his mechanical armor opened, and he crawled out, stumbling toward her, offering a vial of medicine to Fu Li Da's lips for her to drink.
Besides the medicine, a scroll appeared in Kai Nieji's hand, and he opened it at once.
The scroll emitted a white light that fell on Fuli Da; the wound under her ribs stopped bleeding and healed rapidly.
"Thank you." Lei En looked gratefully at Kai Nieji; the two items were perfectly timed.
Healing technique scrolls are only crafted by priests who master Divine Technique; each scroll is worth about half a life, extremely valuable, and ordinary people cannot even obtain one.
Kai Nieji merely shook his head; protected by his mechanical armor, he was unscathed, his clothes intact, looking only a bit over‑fatigued. He walked to Bo Luo Ke, took out another healing technique scroll, and treated Bo Luo Ke.
Lei En saw both teammates' injuries recovering, and finally relaxed.
He went back to pick up his broken Icebreaker.
The war hammer, despite having been in a great battle, showed no damage—truly a custom‑made enchanted weapon, and it felt very comfortable to wield.
"It's just now" it's become too light.
While Lei En was thinking, a large crowd burst in through the warehouse doors.
Leading them was a tall knight in heavy armor, sword in one hand, shield in the other, his steps thudding heavily as he moved, imposing and fierce—the commander of the Demon Extermination Squad, Da Wen Lahe.
Da Wen Lahe charged at the front, followed by a dozen or so Transcendants.
Among them were Ha Geluofu, Mi Er Dun, and others, as well as Demon Extermination Squad members from two other squads.
Seeing them, Lei En knew reinforcements had arrived.
His communicator had been lost early in the fight, so he wasn't sure how long the battle lasted—probably no more than five minutes. That Da Wen Lahe could bring the Demon Extermination Squad here so quickly was already extremely efficient.
At that moment, the Demon Extermination Squad members who stormed the warehouse were first bewildered, then shocked.
They could hardly believe their eyes at the horrific sight: the entire warehouse was littered with Abyss Demon corpses, rivers of blood, shattered bodies everywhere, like a living hell.
A few Transcendants with weaker nerves turned pale from the scent of blood and vomited outright.
"So many Demons!"
"At least three hundred—minor Demons, Sulfur Hounds, fire imps… Goddess above, also fire imp commanders and lava Demons…"
"They've all been killed."
The Demon Extermination Squad members let out a series of exclamations.
On their way here, they didn't know what had happened in the warehouse; they only heard of an emergency and of a fallen Transcendant.
When they arrived at the dock warehouse, everyone saw the demon corpses strewn outside and were terrified, having prepared for the worst.
They hadn't expected to burst in and only see demon corpses.
The battle was already over!
Da Wen Lahe was also in disbelief; among the heap of demon corpses, a few people were still alive, and he recognized two of them as Bo Luo Ke and Fuli Da, rushing toward them.
"Commander." Lei En called out proactively.
Da Wen Lahe halted, looking puzzled at the towering figure before him. The person brandished a war hammer, was bare‑torso, his pants reduced to a waistband, his whole body dyed red with blood, his head and face covered in blood, almost unrecognizable, and looked terrifying.
Most importantly, he sensed a powerful aura emanating from this blood‑soaked man.
Most of the demons on the ground had been slain with the most brutal force—bodies torn apart, heads blown off, limbs severed—a result of overwhelming power crushing them.
It's easy to imagine that this person did it!
Lei En sensed Da Wen Lahe's wariness; looking down, he saw his own appearance was indeed rather frightening.
All of this is Demon blood.
He hadn't felt it during the fight, but now the sticky feeling was uncomfortable.
He applied slight force with his hand, activating the enchantment on the war hammer; a burst of cold erupted, covering his body and freezing the Demon blood within him.
Then his whole body gave a light shiver, scattering the ice shards, expelling the blood, revealing his unblemished skin.
"Lei En!"
Da Wen Lahe instantly recognized him, even more puzzled—how could Lei En be this strong?
