Chapter 966: Crushing the Enemy Forces
Three hundred Extreme Warriors and a thousand Thundercast Celestial Soldiers flew at high speed along the walls of Cezak City as they opened fire, their Bolt Guns spitting countless invisible high‑velocity bullets like a sudden gale and rain, pouring out madly.
Amid the huge gunfire, the Demonkin warriors instantly burst into fragments.
Countless Demonkin were climbing the wall, clinging to it like ants, a black mass; when the Extreme Warriors and Thundercast Celestial Soldiers passed, the wall was already cleared.
A rain of flesh and blood fell from the wall tops, staining the ice surface of the moat red.
Gunfire roared.
The Thundercast Celestial Soldiers descended one by one, each assigned to guard a section of the wall; upon landing they swung lightning war hammers, smashing the Demonkin that had reached the wall tops into meat paste. The Bolt Gun's killing range was too large; shooting these Demonkin would risk hitting dwarves, so they could only use hammer‑explosions in melee.
Having casually eliminated the enemies before them, the Thundercast Celestial Soldiers raised their Bolt Guns again and opened fire on the Demonkin horde below the wall.
Boom—boom—boom……
The deafening gunfire made the dwarves' eardrums sting; some dwarves had to cover their ears, staring at the reinforcements descending from the sky, mouths agape.
They were shocked!
They had never seen such terrifying weapons in their lives; the bullets were invisible, the muzzle flash pointed anywhere, and any Demonkin in that direction instantly burst. Though a single explosion was far weaker than a steel crossbow cannon, the firing rate was a hundred times faster, making it impossible to dodge.
The Thundercast Celestial Soldiers fired from above, and as the muzzle moved, the packed Demonkin warriors turned to ash in the explosions.
And that was only the combat power of one Thundercast Celestial Soldier.
The dwarves looked left and right and found that the middle section of the wall being advanced upon had already been taken over by a thousand Thundercast Celestial Soldiers.
They lined up in a single file; a thousand Bolt Guns simultaneously fired at the base of the wall, blasting the ice of the moat instantly; the ice collapsed, the Demonkin fell into the water like targets, and within half a minute they were wiped out clean, the blood turning the river red.
Those three hundred blue‑armored, fortress‑like transcendent warriors were scattered across the middle of Cezak City's wall, focusing fire on the numerically superior enemy army.
"Extreme Warrior!"
"The world's strongest transcendent legion!"
Some dwarves had heard of the Extreme Warrior's fame, mostly from Gotham City; now seeing the terrifying power displayed by the Extreme Warriors, each aura emitted in battle was comparable to a Saint Rank master, and they were utterly stunned.
The dwarves dwelling in Shi Jie Shan Mai could not describe their feelings.
The Dwarf King and the King of the Hills were also horrified to the point of madness.
"Is this the reinforcement we brought? They really aren't from the heavens?"
"Mahar is above!"
"Does such a powerful legion really exist in the world?" A Dwarf King stared blankly, murmuring; his worldview was completely overturned. He even began to doubt the purpose of the dwarf legion and the necessity of their expansion plan—had he known the Consul's legion was so strong, he should have pledged loyalty directly to the Consul, sparing the hundred‑thousand tribesmen.
The dwarves realized they had nothing to do.
Amid the gunfire, the Demonkin army below the wall was reaped by an invisible scythe of death, falling in massive sheets, the front line retreating swiftly, leaving burning fragments everywhere.
A quick‑reacting Demonkin officer shouted loudly, trying to gather nearby Demonkin warriors to re‑establish the evil energy shield, but as soon as he gave any order or acted differently, bullets instantly blew him apart.
The Bolt Guns always found the Demonkin officers; after they were shot, the Demonkin could not regroup.
A few distant squads managed to link their auras and raise the evil energy shield, but two or three Bolt Guns concentrating fire could easily pierce the shield, the bullets exploding inside and shattering the entire Demonkin squad into fragments.
The morale of the Demonkin army collapsed like a landslide.
They turned to flee, only to be blocked by Demonkin behind them; in the death‑filled deadlock, the Netifu Demon's feral nature erupted, raising weapons against their own kin, beginning a slaughter of each other.
The Extreme Warriors and Thundercast Celestial Soldiers kept firing, the bullet storm forming a fire‑net that pushed forward.
A few minutes later.
All Demonkin within Bolt Gun range were slaughtered, and the gunfire temporarily ceased.
The dwarves looked at the battlefield beneath the wall, a river of blood, the ground pocked with craters, scarcely finding a whole Demonkin corpse; such a horrific scene was only seen in nightmares.
"Huh……"
The Dwarf Kings exhaled in unison.
They had already returned to the high platform behind the wall, looked at each other, and saw the same disbelief in each other's eyes. Those few minutes felt endless to them; thirteen hundred men had slaughtered at least eighty thousand Demonkin!
But this was not the end.
The Demonkin army had gathered over two hundred thousand, and the more than fifty thousand eliminated were only the vanguard; the elite Demonkin forces still remained, numbering another hundred‑plus thousand.
Boom—
Behind the three hundred Extreme Warriors, their rear engines spewed flames, the heavy power armor lifted off, electric currents flickering across the armor surface. With a roar, they transformed into massive bolts of lightning, instantly striking beneath the wall, entering the battlefield, pressing toward the Demonkin army.
The Thundercast Celestial Soldiers stood on the wall unmoving.
The gunfire sounded again.
The Extreme Warriors used the "Thunder Roar" Bolt Gun, stronger than the standard model; one bullet's killing power equaled five‑ring Electric Blast Orbs, and it also had a "laser sweep" mode that condensed the Titan engine's energy into a high‑frequency light beam without consuming ammunition.
This mode's gunfire was slightly quieter, but the rate of fire was faster and the range farther.
Blue beams, dense as rain, rained down on the Demonkin army.
The Demonkin that had just escaped the Bolt Gun's range managed to catch a breath, only to be hit by a devastating strike again; energy bullets pierced their armor and exploded inside, killing surrounding Demonkin as well.
"Run fast!"
"I don't want to die… Move aside, all of you!"
The Netifu Demon fell into boundless terror, eyes reddened, rolling and crawling, desperate to flee this utterly hopeless battlefield.
The Extreme Warriors kept firing and sweeping the enemy while advancing quickly.
The dwarves on the wall saw this scene, their faces went numb, three hundred men chasing tens of thousands—if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, they would never believe such a thing could happen.
"We're winning!"
King Danen *Ironhand of the Lone Peak shouted excitedly.
"Kurgos will not give up so easily." Magnus *Copper Ring said gravely, looking toward the Abyss Knights positioned at the rear of the battlefield; these fifty thousand Abyss Knights had not yet entered combat, their discipline strict, maintaining formation, and were not frightened away by the Extreme Warriors.
"Giving up is suicide!" Kestajin flashed onto the high platform.
He sneered, "No army in this world can defeat the Extreme Warrior legion head‑on; I want to see how long the Abyss Knights can hold."
Thorgrin could not stand Kestajin's smugness; although he also doubted the Extreme Warrior legion would fall, he frowned and said, "Those are fifty thousand Abyss Knights, Kurgos's most elite troops, they fear nothing…"
"Not fifty thousand, even five hundred thousand won't help." Kestajin laughed coldly, "Against the Extreme Warrior legion, it's only a matter of lasting longer."
The two dwarves clashed over the reconstruction of the Iron Beard clan, and neither gave the other a friendly look.
"Now is not the time for arguing."
The gray‑white‑bearded old dwarf, whose beard dragged on the ground, spoke up; he wore a silver‑white crown, was the Dwarf King of the Mithril Palace—one of five underground fortresses—and his name was Bruno, of the ancient Warhammer clan.
"Kestajin, say fewer words; you must show the basic respect owed to His Majesty," a King of the Hills urged.
"He is not my king."
Kestajin snorted, "I have already pledged loyalty to Lei En."
The several Kings of the Hills present looked at each other, troubled by the situation.
Previously Thorgrin could keep Kestajin in check as the King of Zhigao Shan, but now Kestajin has an Empire Consul backing him, full of confidence, and trouble is sure to follow.
Thorgrin also felt regret; kicking Kestajin out of the underground fortress was a grave misstep.
Who could have imagined that in just a few years Lei En would rise to this height?
The last Dwarf King, Belega Hammer of the Nine Peaks Valley underground fortress, who kept his focus on the battlefield, then said:
"Kurgos' counterattack has begun."
The king and the Kings of the Hills fell silent, concentrating on the battlefield.
The Abyss Knights behind the Demonkin army moved, urging their Hell warhorses to gallop. The horses were jet‑black, clad in heavy armor that even covered their heads, leaving only two eye holes from which streams of evil black smoke billowed.
Bang bang bang bang…
Tens of thousands of Hell warhorses thundered together, their rumbling hoofbeats drowning out the gunfire; they accelerated, shaking the entire battlefield.
A towering wave of evil energy erupted, soaring like war smoke into the sky.
More than fifty thousand Abyss Knights launched a simultaneous charge; the fleeing Demonkin blocked the charge's path, unable to evade, they were trampled into flesh pulp by the Hell warhorses.
The Abyss Knights kept accelerating.
Halfway through the charge, still outside the range of the Extreme Warriors, their formation suddenly split into three groups; each flank of ten thousand Abyss Knights turned, forming two flank corps—one to the left‑front, one to the right‑front—accelerating to encircle the Extreme Warriors from both sides.
The fifty thousand Abyss Knights became thirty thousand, ten thousand, and ten thousand.
So many cavalry, charging at high speed, could still divide precisely into three groups without disorder, showing superb combat discipline, worthy of the Demonkin elite.
The Extreme Warriors kept shooting Demonkin, taking no action, as if they had not noticed the Abyss Knights' tactics.
From the high platform, Thorgrin couldn't help but say, "Aren't they afraid of a flank attack?"
The other Dwarf Kings thought the same.
Kestajin listened intently for a few seconds, then spoke, "Lei En says, no matter which road he comes from, I will go only one road."
The dwarves looked at each other; is this the confidence that absolute strength brings?
"Consul, where are you?" Magnus asked.
Kestajin replied immediately, "Lei En is busy with other matters now; after the battle, he will meet everyone."
In truth he didn't know what Lei En was busy with, only that Lei En was on the Star Destroyer.
As they spoke, the charging Abyss Knights entered range; the Extreme Warriors switched their Bolt Guns to armor‑piercing rounds, each massive, sharp projectile whistling toward the Abyss Knights' opened evil‑energy shield, rippling it but failing to penetrate.
"Second squad, focus fire!"
Marious ordered over the comm channel.
Sixty Bolt Guns locked onto the same direction, firing armor‑piercing rounds in concentration; after a few seconds they finally pierced the evil shield, killing dozens of Abyss Knights.
Boom…
A towering figure erupted with sky‑piercing evil energy, stabilizing the shield in time.
His Hell warhorse was taller than those of other Abyss Knights, clad in oddly shaped armor; his evil aura spread like an ocean, his eyes spitting two streams of pale‑green fire, wielding a massive 3.5‑meter spear, exuding a strong bloody scent that struck fear.
"Bloodthirsty King Kurgos!"
Marious fixed his gaze, yet felt no fear.
Although he had only recently been promoted to a Saint Rank strongman, his strength was far below the Thirty‑level Kurgos; after donning a custom‑made power armor, he was confident he could face this infamous Chosen Champion head‑on.
Moreover, he had many brothers at his side!
"Advance!"
Marious shouted loudly.
At the same time, the two flank corps entered range; the Extreme Warriors of the fourth and fifth squads instantly swivelled their barrels to focus fire, piercing the enemy's evil shield, but were likewise repelled by two Chosen Champions using their own evil energy.
The evil shield would be breached every few seconds, then regenerate.
Each brief moment without protection saw dozens to hundreds of Abyss Knights shot down, but for the massive numbers, it was not a severe loss.
The two sides closed the distance rapidly.
The sky suddenly turned crimson; massive fireballs, each about a meter in diameter, appeared above the Extreme Warriors—hundreds of them—raining down like a dense meteor shower, striking at high speed and completely covering the Extreme Warriors' formation.
"Nine-ring Technique Meteoric Fire Rain!"
The dwarves watching from the city walls let out a startled cry; it was obvious that Grand Mage Jorgen had acted again.
Marious only glanced up and ignored it.
He disregarded the spell overhead, calmly ordering, "Brothers, draw your swords!"
The Extreme Warriors retrieved electric greatswords from the dimensional space attached to their armor, grasped them, infused massive energy to activate enchantments, transparent currents flickering, the bright blades vibrating at high frequency, imbued with a disintegration field.
"Crush them!" Marious shouted loudly.
Three hundred Extreme Warriors roared together, their voices echoing across the battlefield as they charged skyward: "For Ji Li Man! For Augustus's advance!"
