Chapter 100: Not a Single Piece of Armor Left!
"Hah! Brave warriors of Stormhold, these dog-men are nothing! Follow me—kill them all, and avenge our fallen!" Laurent exclaimed, stunned yet elated.
He remembered the battle three years ago all too clearly—the town guards, including his own father.
They had no resistance at all against these dog-men back then.
But now, they were utterly different.
Wasn’t this the perfect chance to avenge their fathers?
"That’s right! These dog-men are nothing after all! Kill them all!"
The guards responded in unison—fear stemmed from weakness; once they found courage, fear vanished.
Instantly, the dog-men’s assault on the walls faltered.
And because they clung to the outer wooden palisade, their combat effectiveness halved—they could not breach the wall.
Worse still, the aerial demons kept attacking.
They were merely larger in stature, able to use their muscles to block some arrows, but not undead like dark creatures.
So, as time passed, several dog-men could no longer hold out and were pierced through by arrows, dying on the spot.
Roar!
Pago let out a furious bellow and scrambled up the wall, determined to use his superior strength to carve a breach for his kin.
But as he reached the top of the wooden wall, he saw a human knight smirking at him.
"Die, two-legs!" Pago paid no mind—he could match even a human bronze knight in strength.
Clang!
Claw met sword, metal clashed, and Pago’s face turned ashen.
"A silver-rank two-legs?!"
"Seems you know quite a bit about our kind?" Lei Meng bared his cold teeth, his sword already screaming down again.
With a wet thud, a deep gash tore open across Pago’s chest.
Fortunately, Pago dodged in time, narrowly avoiding a killing blow.
Pago plummeted to the ground at top speed.
He turned to look back at the human knight on the wall—
When suddenly, a thud echoed behind his head.
"Running? You won’t get away!"
This two-legs had followed him down!
Pago’s heart seized with terror—he bolted without hesitation, sprinting for the distance.
"High Priest Niroda, save me!"
As he ran, Pago screamed for help.
"Chief Pago?!"
High Priest Niroda sensed the danger and rushed toward Pago, his staff already swirling in motion.
"Curse Claw!"
As Lei Meng closed to within forty meters of the priest, the incantation ended.
The skull staff lashed forward—a green, claw-shaped energy bolt shot straight at Lei Meng.
Lei Meng frowned, sensing serious threat—he raised his shield instantly.
Boom! The shield shuddered violently.
When he looked ahead, five deep claw marks were embedded in the shield, its surface corroded as if doused in potent acid, pitted and ruined.
This was no ordinary shield—it was a solid iron shield specially forged for Lei Meng by Gervas, thick yet unbreakably strong.
Clearly, this dog-man priest was no weakling.
Seeing his priest’s defense hold, Pago sighed in relief and shouted: "High Priest Niroda, don’t stop! He’s a silver-rank two-legs—kill him!"
Niroda’s face darkened—he immediately began channeling again.
Whizz!
But at that moment, a piercing shriek came from above.
Niroda’s expression changed—he looked up.
There, a flying horse plunged straight down at nearly a ninety-degree angle toward him.
And atop the flying horse sat a young human in leather armor.
"Is this two-legs insane?"
That was Niroda’s first thought.
But the next instant, he realized—the enemy was not insane. He was utterly treacherous.
When only thirty meters from the ground, the human suddenly grinned wickedly and unfastened a large leather sack.
From it tumbled dozens of fist-sized stones.
As soon as the stones were released, the flying horse twisted its wings and glided sideways away.
Only the stones continued falling straight down—toward his head.
"Damn it!" Niroda tried to flee—but too late. He raised his staff skyward.
Whizz! A green claw shot upward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Several falling stones shattered into dust under the claw’s impact.
But there were too many—still at least seven or eight remained unblocked.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The stones struck the ground in an instant, carving small pits seven or eight centimeters deep.
Thud!
Crack!
Niroda’s luck was terrible—one stone struck his right shoulder.
A searing pain shot through him, accompanied by a crisp snap of bone.
His broad shoulder visibly caved inward.
Blood spurted from his mouth—he collapsed, eyes wide, twitching wildly on the ground in his final, violent dance.
The stone had struck his heart—he was dying…
Gazing up at the blinding sunlight, he remembered practicing magic under the blazing sun—that was his lost youth.
"Rest in peace!"
A shadow blocked the sun—there stood the treacherous two-legs who had attacked from above.
"You—"
Niroda tried to speak, but his body went limp—he died instantly.
"High Priest Niroda!" Pago, over ten meters away, stared in horror.
It wasn’t grief for the priest’s death—it was terror. Without Niroda, he was dead.
Behind him came a cold laugh: "Don’t rush—you’ll join him soon!"
Plop!
A heavy, forceful sword slash struck Pago’s back—he lost balance, rolling several times across the ground.
Before he could rise, Lei Meng, with the agility of a silver-rank knight, stomped onto his back.
For safety, he struck again—plop, plop, plop—cutting Pago’s tendons in hands and feet.
With the priest dead and the chief captured, the dog-men’s morale shattered.
"The priest’s dead! Run for your lives!"
"The chief’s captured! These two-legs are too strong—we can’t fight them! Run!"
The dog-men fled in panic.
Gervas would not let these man-eaters escape.
He handed Pago to a few guards and personally led Lei Meng and the pursuit.
Over an hour later, Gervas returned with his force.
Behind them, carts were piled high with dog-man corpses.
Though over twenty had escaped, this was still a decisive victory.
"I told you! Our lord led us to kill the demons, the scorpion bandits—he’ll lead us to kill these damned dog-men too! We’ve won!"
"Our lord is mighty!"
"Our lord is mighty!"
As Laurent shouted, cheers erupted across the town.
Women, children, and elders who had hidden at the alarm bell’s sound now gathered at the town gate, watching as the dog-men who dared attack Wheatfield Town were slaughtered by their lord—
