Chapter 214

~5 min read 1,000 words

"Freya, everyone is assembled!"

"Good, then we enter the noble's inner keep through this back garden. Move quickly—our primary target is Gervas!"

"No problem, Freya. By the way, I heard nobles usually live on the third floor of the inner keep. Freya, Iron Claw—is that right?"

"Yes. The first floor of a noble's castle houses dining halls and parlors; the second floor has more parlors and guest rooms; the third floor is the noble's own study and bedroom!"

"So the moment we storm the inner keep, head straight for the third floor—take out that treacherous Gervas first!"

"Perfect, I can barely wait. Last time that shameless Gervas kept threatening to cut off our noses and ears—this time we'll make him pay in blood!"

"Exactly—blood for blood!"

*Whoosh!

*Thud!

"Huh? What was that sound?"

Just as the tribal heirs impatiently moved forward, a whistle of air pierced through, followed by a wet thud of flesh being pierced.

"Ah! Arrows—someone's been hit!"

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

*Thud thud thud!

That single arrow seemed to trigger a switch—next moment, more arrows rained down from all sides.

Naturally, more tribal warriors collapsed to the ground.

"Damn it, we've been spotted—push forward!"

At this point, even the slowest of the tribal savages snapped to attention.

Instantly, the once-silent back garden erupted into chaos.

The remaining tribal savages, led by Freya and several tribal heirs, charged toward the inner keep.

Among them, those with totemic power activated their totems.

"Well, well—I'm impressed! Over twenty totem warriors? No wonder you dared come all this way to assassinate me!"

"But you're unlucky—you've run into a minor noble like me. Otherwise, you might've actually succeeded."

Amid a ring of guards, Gervas appeared calmly on the balcony behind the inner keep.

At that moment, a loud cry rang out from the front: "Tribal warriors—attack!"

Immediately, Iron Bear led fifty savage soldiers to encircle the tribal group.

Seeing the towering, broad-shouldered savages—each nearly two meters eighty tall—the tribal savages froze.

"What's going on? Isn't this supposed to be a human castle?" Several tribal heirs turned pale.

"Hmph. Yes, this is a human castle—but who told you Lord Gervas has only human soldiers?" The knights of Migen also stepped forward with cold smirks.

"You! I recognize you—those were you beside Gervas that day!" Iron Claw and the others instantly identified Migen's group.

"Oh? It's you? Last time our lord spared you once—you dare return? You truly seek death!" Migen was startled.

Earlier, their lord had merely said Yueyue detected a tribal force attacking the castle at night—but hadn't revealed their identities.

Now, it was clear: at least three or four were tribal heirs they'd once kidnapped.

"Iron Claw—is that them?"

"Yes, Freya—they're Gervas's knights!"

Freya clenched her silver teeth. "Then fight them—to uphold the tribe's honor!"

With that, Freya charged ahead alone.

"Fine—let's fight them!"

The other tribal heirs and totem warriors followed close behind.

Lei Meng and Iron Bear didn't hesitate. "Kill!"

Then, fifty savage warriors, alongside the knights and their squires, clashed with the enemy.

The tribal totem warriors were indeed strong—but against the savages, they were evenly matched.

Especially now that ten of the savage warriors wore armor specially crafted by Gervas for them.

These armors were stitched together from captured, worn-out hides—but their defense far surpassed plain animal hides.

Thus, the armored savages' combat power multiplied severalfold. No matter how fiercely the totem warriors charged, they could not break the encirclement.

And without a way out, the tribal savages were doomed.

Lei Meng's knights launched sudden strikes, while archers rained hidden bolts—soon, the tribal savages were cut down almost entirely.

"Damn it—we'll fight to the death!"

Seeing their totem warriors dwindle, the tribal heirs finally panicked and rushed forward to fight the savages to the death.

As heirs, their strength surpassed ordinary totem warriors.

But Lei Meng and Iron Bear gave them no chance—they immediately moved to intercept.

*Clang! Lei Meng's longsword struck Iron Claw's blade clean from his grip.

Seizing Iron Claw's unbalanced stance, he closed in swiftly and delivered a sharp palm strike to his neck.

Iron Claw grunted, his head lolled, and he collapsed unconscious.

Iron Bear lacked Lei Meng's elegant finesse, but his spiked club swung with crushing force. After a few blows, he smashed the heir to the ground, stepped forward two paces, and kicked him out of the fray—where guards swarmed and seized him.

"Iron Claw! Rick!" Freya cried out in panic as she saw her two companions captured, pulling the whistle from around her neck.

*Squeak!

The low call echoed again—and moments later, the white-feathered owl appeared in midair above the back garden.

This white-feathered owl possessed sharp talons and a keen beak—its combat power rivaled that of a Bronze Knight.

Freya summoned it to aid herself and her comrades.

"White Cloud—help us!"

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

But no sooner had she spoken than dozens of grappling hooks shot down from above toward the white owl.

Looking up, she saw over a dozen swift demons soaring above the white owl—unseen until now.

*Screech!

Sensing the constriction, the white owl instantly fought back, raging at the surrounding swift demons.

Yet, one-on-one, the swift demons were no match.

But ten-to-one—with human aid from above—they could slaughter the white owl in seconds.

No matter how it struggled, it couldn't touch a single feather of the swift demons—only to be pinned helplessly to the ground.

*Rattle!

At that moment, another massive net dropped from above, binding the white owl tightly.

Now, the white owl was utterly disabled, shrieking and wailing helplessly in midair.

"White Cloud!" Freya cried out in anguish.

But her concern came too late—without this sole ally, the remaining tribal totem warriors were about to be slaughtered.

Gervas now strolled forward calmly.

He grabbed Iron Claw by the collar. "Stop fighting—or I'll kill him."

"Ah! It's him—that treacherous Gervas!"

"Freya, that's Gervas!"

Gasps erupted across the field—the tribal heirs previously kidnapped by Gervas shouted in recognition.

Freya's beautiful eyes locked onto Gervas with burning hatred.
