Chapter 455: Green-skinned bastards, you won

~6 min read 1,064 words

“Thud!”

Dust rose from the ground as the Blood Bat Knight and his mount vanished from Gervas and the others’ sight.

“This…?” The remaining three Blood Bat Knights stared in shock.

Just moments ago, they had been evenly matched against so many Griffon Knights and Blood Bat Knights.

Their confidence had been absolute.

Yet in an instant, with just one strike, their comrade was dead?

And how had that black iron tube appeared?

“My lord is mighty!”

In contrast to the Bat Knights’ astonishment, Mick and the others were ecstatic.

These Blood Bat Knights had previously crushed them without mercy.

Now their own lord had slain one with a single blow—this was utterly exhilarating.

As for how the cannon had appeared, they didn’t care.

After all, it was perfectly normal for their lord to possess secret powers.

As subordinates, they knew better than to ask questions they shouldn’t.

“Let’s go!”

At this moment, the remaining three Blood Bat Knights dared not stay.

Come on, that black iron tube was that powerful—what was the point of fighting?

They should flee as fast as they could.

“My lord, these bastards are trying to run!” Mick and the others, who had just been cheering, suddenly turned pale and cried out in alarm.

“They won’t get away!”

Gervas sneered and immediately ordered Zhuaiyue to pursue.

In an instant, Gervas appeared beside one of the Blood Bat Knights, riding shoulder to shoulder with him.

The Blood Bat Knight gasped in terror, gritting his teeth and slashing at Gervas with his blade.

Too bad, Gervas was faster.

A black iron tube appeared in his arms in the blink of an eye.

Boom!

Puff! Puff! Puff!

The Blood Bat Knight froze—his longsword still raised mid-air, yet powerless to strike down.

His body was riddled with blood holes; so too was the Blood Bat beneath him.

Then, the Blood Bat Knight, like his mount, began to plummet.

Thud!

Another dull thump—the second Blood Bat Knight hit the ground.

“My lord is mighty!” Mick and the others cheered again.

The remaining two Blood Bat Knights were terrified, their eyes wide with fear, frantically urging their mounts to speed up.

But Blood Bats were never known for speed—even Magic Swift Eagles outpaced them by half.

So how could they outrun Zhuaiyue?

“You won’t escape!”

Gervas caught up to another Blood Bat Knight.

Seeing Gervas’s smile, the Blood Bat Knight felt icy chills crawl up his spine.

As Gervas made a motion as if to embrace him, the Blood Bat Knight turned deathly pale.

He gritted his teeth and forced his mount into a high-difficulty dive downward.

Boom!

In that same instant, the cannon roared.

Puff! Puff! Puff!

“Huh?”

Gervas let out a surprised exclamation.

His shot had missed the targeted Blood Bat Knight—it had struck his teammate instead.

His teammate was unlucky—he had been hiding beside him, hoping to use his body as a shield against Gervas’s attack.

But when the middle Blood Bat Knight suddenly dodged, the cannon’s target shifted to him.

Instantly, the Blood Bat Knight’s eyes widened, filled with rage and despair.

Thud!

Moments later, dust rose again from the ground.

“My lord is mighty!”

“Mick, keep pursuing! I need to stop and reload!” Gervas suddenly slowed down.

“Yes, my lord!”

Mick and the others knew cannons required reloading.

Immediately, they surged forward again, trying to hold off the last Blood Bat Knight.

The last Blood Bat Knight secretly wiped sweat from his brow.

Having narrowly escaped death, he saw Gervas had stopped—and he believed this was his chance to flee.

He gritted his teeth and stabbed a vital point on his Blood Bat with a short blade.

“Roar!”

The Blood Bat, in pain, suddenly accelerated its flight speed.

“Cruel!” Mick and the others hadn’t expected the orc to harm his own mount.

But his tactic worked—the others could only watch helplessly as he sped away.

On Gervas’s side, he landed swiftly and began reloading the cannon.

This device, after all, was something Gervas himself had “invented.”

So the initial reloading process was something he personally tested, then taught step-by-step to the cannon squad.

Though his current speed certainly couldn’t match the cannon squad’s daily training,

his standard reloading was still flawless.

Five or six minutes later, all three cannons were reloaded.

Gervas followed the same method, using extended fuses, then quickly lit them.

As the fuses burned, he retracted the three cannons into his storage space.

“Zhuaiyue, let’s go!”

Then Gervas mounted Zhuaiyue and resumed pursuit.

Meanwhile, the fleeing Blood Bat Knight, having tapped his mount’s latent potential, finally caught up with his other squad members.

“Huh! Barini, why are you back? It’s not time for rotation yet. Where are Kekadi and the others?” His squadmates were stunned—they had agreed on a rotation schedule, and it hadn’t yet come due.

“Captain! Kekadi and the others are dead… all of them…”

“Dead? How is that possible? I don’t mean to underestimate those Griffon Knights and Magic Swift Eagles—if they had enough numbers, killing one or two of our Blood Bat Knights might be possible!”

“But now their numbers are few, and I specifically told you to avoid direct combat—how did this happen?”

The Blood Bat Knight squad captain was utterly shocked.

“Captain, it wasn’t the Griffon Knights or Magic Swift Eagles—it was their lord, that nobleman named Gervas. He rode a flying horse and caught up to us, then…”

Barini then recounted everything that had just happened to the Blood Bat Knight squad captain.

“Damn it!” Hearing that Gervas not only had a flying horse of incredible speed but also used that strange black iron tube as a weapon, the Blood Bat captain was both shocked and furious.

“Captain, just now Gervas said something about reloading—so I stabbed my Blood Bat to trigger its latent potential and escaped. We should flee now, or that damned human noble will catch up—and it’ll be terrible!”

Barini, remembering the fates of his three comrades, couldn’t stop trembling.

The Blood Bat squad captain opened his mouth to speak—

Then suddenly, a long, piercing horse neigh came from behind.

He turned around—and the Blood Bat Knight squad captain and his men turned pale.

Because that neigh had come from the flying horse Barini had described.

And mounted atop it—wasn’t that human noble, Gervas?

“Green-skinned bastards, you won’t escape!” Gervas smirked, his eyes filled with coldness!
