Chapter 467

~7 min read 1,211 words

“No! Damn it!”

A furious roar of frustration came from the wooden wall.

Because everything Gervas did was done under his watch.

Even that magical device called the cannon, he had watched with his own eyes as it moved toward the rear garden.

Yet, for all of this, he was utterly powerless.

The only five Bloodthirsty Bat Knights had already been lost; as long as the enemy’s aerial knights refused to land, there was no solution.

Boom! Boom!

Not long after, a rumbling sound came from behind the inner camp.

Each boom struck like a heavy hammer against Prada’s chest, shattering his last hope into fragments.

“Chief Prada, it’s bad! The human magical iron tube has appeared in the rear garden, and there are griffon riders too—we can’t hold them back!”

Soon after, an orc chieftain rushed over, face pale with terror, reporting to Prada.

“Hold the line! No matter what, you must hold it!” Prada screamed hoarsely.

“Chief Prada, we can’t hold it—we simply can’t! These humans are too strong!” The subordinate shook his head—not out of defiance, but because the battle in the rear garden was utterly one-sided.

At this moment, Prada could also hear the human battle cries growing louder from behind.

This meant the humans were advancing deeper into the inner camp.

A flash of sharp light passed through Prada’s eyes—he finally made his decision.

“Then hold here. I’m going to the rear garden to see for myself!”

Giving this instruction to the subordinate who hadn’t yet reacted, Prada immediately left the wall.

But although he said he was going to the rear garden, he never headed there.

Because he knew even if he went, nothing could be done—so what he truly intended was the tent of Princess Sukama.

……

Seeing Prada vanish from the wall, Gervas knew it was time to launch a direct assault.

Of course, the front line now consisted only of cavalry and spear infantry, so he needed a way to open the gate from within.

Using Magic Swift Eagles to fly into the orc camp was undoubtedly the best method.

A whistle summoned Ieflan and the Magic Swift Eagle squad back.

Then, each Magic Swift Eagle carried two soldiers, and Gervas himself mounted Zuiyue.

“My lord, are you certain it’s safe for you to join the battle personally? Shouldn’t I go fetch Knight Captain Lei Meng, or recall Mi Ke and the others?”

Seeing Gervas mount Zuiyue as if to lead the charge himself, Ieflan looked worried.

“Ieflan, the battle at the rear garden is raging—Knight Captain Lei Meng and Captain Mi Ke cannot be absent!”

“Besides, I am a Silver Knight myself, and my strength is no weakling. So don’t worry! Now—move out! No more delays!”

If possible, Gervas didn’t want to fight personally.

It wasn’t fear of death.

It was just… a lord of the realm fighting with his own hands? That was too low-class.

But wasn’t the situation urgent?

So this time, he had no choice.

Ieflan still felt uneasy, but dared not speak further.

Immediately, the Magic Swift Eagle squad rose into the air, carrying twenty soldiers over the wooden wall.

Gervas also rode Zuiyue into the inner camp.

Soon after, they landed directly on the open ground within the enclosure.

“Roar! These damned humans have breached the wall! Orc warriors, follow me and kill them!”

The orc chieftain left behind on the wooden wall spotted Gervas and his men landing, and immediately roared, rallying a group of orc warriors to surround them.

After landing, Gervas and his men did not hesitate—they charged straight toward the gate.

After all, their purpose in entering the camp was to open this inner gate.

Though this gate was a magical device, it only defended against destructive attacks from outside.

Opening it from within normally would pose no problem.

So if they could open the gate from inside, the spear infantry and Storm Light Cavalry could flood into the camp.

At this moment, under the leadership of the orc chieftain, over a hundred orcs had descended from the wooden wall and blocked Gervas’s group ahead.

The enemy numbered over a hundred; Gervas’s group had only twenty. Even with aerial support from the Magic Swift Eagles, it was still a drop in the ocean.

“Roar! Human noble, you dare enter the inner camp to seek death? I’ll capture you and force your subordinates to surrender!”

The orc chieftain clearly believed Gervas’s group had little chance of victory.

In fact, Gervas’s decision to enter the enclosure himself filled the orc chieftain with a hidden thrill.

The principle of “capture the leader to defeat the bandits” was not unique to Earth—it was common knowledge in this world too.

“Green-skin, you’re still too young. If I dared come in, do you really think I have no backing?” Gervas smiled.

As he smiled, he reached for the spear hanging at Zuiyue’s side.

The orc chieftain froze, momentarily taken aback by Gervas’s demeanor.

But once he recovered, he decided Gervas was merely bluffing—he could sense the man’s power level, barely that of the weakest Silver Knight.

His strength was even slightly weaker than his own.

And with so many subordinates to aid him, he could easily crush him.

The only thing to watch out for was preventing this human noble from escaping on that flying horse.

Thinking this, the orc chieftain wasted no more time: “Orc warriors, follow me—kill!”

“Roar! Kill!”

In the next instant, over a hundred orcs howled and charged toward Gervas and his men.

“Storm warriors, follow me—kill!”

Gervas showed no fear—he kicked the spear’s butt with his foot, sending it flying forward.

Then he stepped forward sharply, his body shooting ahead like an arrow released from a bow.

After advancing two or three steps, his hand had already grasped the spear’s shaft.

This flashy, showy move left the orc warriors stunned.

Especially the orc chieftain—he was clearly astonished by the human’s speed and footwork.

But remembering his own strength was slightly superior, he felt no fear, and swung his iron axe forward first.

“Die, two-legged sheep!”

He intended to overpower with brute force—crush the spear with his axe.

Gervas’s lips curled into a cold smile—he exerted force, shaking the spear, creating a circular blur at its tip, instantly making the orc chieftain unable to track the true spearhead.

The orc chieftain’s face hardened—he knew retreat was impossible now. He gritted his teeth and swung his axe in a sweeping arc.

The iron axe slashed from left to right—surely it would strike the spear.

Once the spear was hit, he would close in—and then the fate of this two-legged noble would lie in his hands.

But intentions were easy; execution was hard.

Gervas seemed to read his mind—in the instant the axe swung, Gervas shifted his footing sharply to the side.

This sidestep slipped entirely out of the orc chieftain’s attack range, causing his swing to miss.

Before the orc chieftain could react further, Gervas stepped back with elegant footwork, returning to his original position.

“This…?” The orc chieftain was both shocked and furious.

Then, in the orc chieftain’s disbelief, a glint of cold light arrived first—then the spear shot forth like a dragon.

Plop!

A streak of crimson bloomed across the orc chieftain’s throat.
