Chapter 85: Stormhold Attacks the Scorpion Lair!

~6 min read 1,059 words

“Brave warriors of Stormhold! Kill!”

“Kill!”

Before Catherine could react, cries of battle echoed around her.

Then, from around a corner dozens of meters away, a group of soldiers clad in leather armor charged out.

The soldiers rushed forward and slashed down seven or eight bandits in mere moments.

“Are you alright?”

A young figure stepped forward, offering her a strip of linen.

Catherine took the cloth numbly, still dazed.

And that young face—she felt she had seen it before.

“My lord, I am Gervas, Lord of Stormhold.”

Him?!

Instantly, Catherine remembered the young, handsome face she had seen at the hole in the roof that day.

Yes!

It really was him!

In Gervas’s shock, Catherine’s eyes suddenly reddened, and she threw herself into his arms.

“Uh!”

Though unexpected, hearing the lady’s sobs, Gervas did not shove her away like a fool—he gently patted her back to comfort her.

“You’re safe now!”

In the past, Catherine would never have thrown herself into a man’s arms so casually.

In fact, since childhood, her contact with men had been few and far between.

This time, it was pure emotional release after terror.

Especially Gervas’s appearance that night—he had given her hope for life.

These days of waiting had made Catherine more anxious than the previous days had.

She feared this hope might vanish again—equivalent to plunging her into nightmares twice over.

“My lord certainly has good fortune!”

“Indeed, this noblewoman is too beautiful!”

“A hero saves the beauty—aren’t that’s how bards always sing it…?”

At this moment, Migen and the others, having confirmed all bandits were eliminated, began chattering.

Each stole glances at their lord and the lady.

Though disheveled, Catherine’s attire remained intact and refined.

And she was, in truth, a woman of striking beauty and figure.

To see such a beautiful woman throw herself into their lord’s arms, the subordinates could barely suppress their amusement.

After her outburst, Catherine finally calmed down. Hearing the whispered remarks around her, she realized how improper her actions had been.

A blush spread to her ears; she quickly pulled away from Gervas. “I—I’m sorry, my lord!”

Gervas shot a furious glare at Migen and the others, then replied to Catherine: “It’s fine, Lady. You’re safe now.”

“But the bandit gang isn’t finished yet. So I’ll have someone escort you to safety first.”

Immediately, Gervas handed the lady over to Evlan, who would send her down the mountain on a Magic Swift Eagle.

“Let’s go—send the Scorpion Boss to his grave!”

“Yes, my lord!”

“Baron Mien, what do we do now? We’ve lost over three hundred men! And it seems they’re preparing to capture Lord Catherine as a hostage!”

“It’s all our incompetence!” Mien’s face was full of helplessness, but thinking of the consequences of losing his territory, he gritted his teeth: “For our land and our family, we can’t wait any longer! We’ll lead the charge ourselves!”

“There’s no other choice!”

Having reached consensus, Baron Mien and the two knights finally led their troops in a daring charge.

Nobles normally cherished their lives—they would never risk themselves like this.

“Hmph. Can three titled knights possibly make up the gap between us?” The Scorpion Boss immediately noticed Mien’s move.

Yet he only sneered in mockery, then lifted stones with Sack to hurl them relentlessly at Mien and his men.

Mien’s men held shields, which could block ordinary soldiers’ falling rocks.

But against the Scorpion Boss and Sack’s stones, they dared not stand firm—they could only dodge.

Eventually, one knight was too slow to dodge and was struck directly by the Scorpion Boss’s boulder.

Thud!

Not only did his shield shatter, but the knight rolled several times, nearly tumbling off the mountain path.

“Sir Carson!”

“I’m fine!” Sir Carson’s face was pale; though unharmed, he trembled with the nearness of death.

Even as a Bronze Knight, falling down a cliff dozens of meters high meant almost certain death.

“Ha! Keep coming, you fools! My boss and I are waiting! Ha ha ha!” Sack couldn’t help mocking.

“Damn it!” Mien and the others clenched their teeth, but could only grit their way forward in frustration.

“Kill!”

But at that moment, fierce cries of battle echoed from above.

Then, panicked shouts rose from the wall—the Scorpion Boss and the other bandits vanished from the ramparts.

“What’s going on?”

“No idea, but there’s fighting inside the wall!”

“How is that possible? Could it be a trick?”

After sensing this, Mien and the others grew wary and uncertain.

After all, it was too unbelievable.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

At that moment, a white horse burst through the wall, bathed in sunlight—Mien and the others instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes.

“What are you waiting for? Attack! The Scorpion Bandits are distracted by my men!”

“Lord Gervas?!”

Mien and the others widened their eyes, finally recognizing the rider.

Then they stared at the man riding the flying horse as if they had seen a god—unbelievable.

But they were no children—they wouldn’t freeze in place now.

They knew this was their final chance.

“Did you hear? Brave men of the Mien family—our ally, the Stormhold Legion, has breached the bandits’ lair! Everyone, charge with me!”

“Kill!”

Immediately, Mien and the two knights led the charge, scaling the wall.

If they didn’t fight now, they deserved to lose their land.

When they reached the ramparts, they indeed found the Scorpion Bandits locked in battle with Gervas’s Stormhold soldiers.

But due to their smaller numbers, the Stormhold Legion was forced into defense!

Seeing this, Mien and the others dared not hesitate.

These were their saviors—they couldn’t let them suffer harm.

“You scum of the Scorpion Bandits—I’m Mien! Die!”

“Kill! Crush every last bandit! Charge!”

Mien and the two knights charged fiercely into the Scorpion Bandits with their soldiers.

“Damn it!” The Scorpion Boss turned livid.

He knew all was lost, so he chose not to fight to the death—he prepared to flee.

“Sack, let’s go!”

The two immediately broke from the group.

“Think you can run? Can you escape?”

But at that moment, Gervas and Knight Captain Lei Meng blocked their path.

“You—that damned knight from Stormhold?” Sack immediately recognized Lei Meng.

“Stormhold? You’re that damned lord?” The Scorpion Boss’s eyes widened—he never imagined the one who defeated him was the Lord of Stormhold.

He had thought it was the Royal Army!
