Chapter 99: On Going Up on the Shelves

Finally, it's going up on the shelves. Tomorrow at noon, 12 o'clock sharp, it'll go up.

Finally… stumbling and bumbling along, this book is finally going up on the shelves — my feelings are complicated.

When I started the book, I was actually really nervous.

Actually, the opening of this book — I tried posting it on a certain website on the first day, and it flopped hard.

At the time I felt it was over, that the readers wouldn't buy into this book.

Later I thought it over, and just couldn't bear to let it go — this book really is the kind I wanted to write.

So I picked it back up, changed the opening, switched to a more relaxed style of writing, kept the same setting and core, and launched the book on Qidian.

Luckily, an editor fished it out of the trash heap and kept recommending it all the way to now. Looking at it so far, this book's Qidian performance is the best of all my books.

Maybe it's because I cared too much — a couple of days ago my mindset just collapsed.

At the time, seeing launch was coming up, I wanted to ask the editor about the follow-read numbers, and the result… a lot of people already know.

A lot of people might think I'm being too fragile, but honestly what the editor actually said was pretty demoralizing. He said, "Don't ask, just write — I can't be bothered to show you (the follow-reads)."

Right then I thought, my follow-reads had collapsed — maybe even 500 people were gone, and I was the only one who didn't know.

That day, after posting a single chapter, a lot of people encouraged me, and only then did I calm down.

Now, I just hope this book gets good results.

The goal of 2,000 subscriptions was something I discussed with the operations officer back then. I was originally full of confidence, but now… I hope everyone will support me a lot. No matter how many subscriptions, on launch day it'll be 4 + 5 chapters, and the updates going forward will be solid too (if the results are good, I can do 10 chapters a day — old readers should know just how fierce Hardworking Panda Man can be). Rest assured.
