Chapter 81: Is there that much water?

~7 min read 1,284 words

Entering the elevator, Jiang Cheng noticed which floor Su Manyao pressed.

47th floor.

Really high.

Su Manyao's apartment is a one-elevator-per-unit layout; stepping out of the elevator leads directly to the reception room, with the fire escape on the right.

Opening the door, the room lights came on automatically; Jiang Cheng saw a large expanse of crystal shoes and stacked shoe cabinets on the left, warm yellow light shining on them, filled with high-heeled shoes.

Black, white, red, lacquered, thin-strapped, bandaged—everything you could imagine, dazzling to behold.

No wonder she complains of foot pain; everything in sight is high heels, not a single pair of casual or athletic shoes to be seen.

Su Manyao opened the cabinet beside and below, taking out two pairs of slippers.

"This pair of slippers is for you to wear; they're new."

"Okay."

Jiang Cheng noted that the slippers' style matched Su Mengyao's, just two sizes larger, and they indeed looked new.

After they changed shoes and closed the door, Jiang Cheng noticed Su Manyao seemed to have become a bit restrained, though she didn't show it.

Jiang Cheng didn't say more and walked into the room.

If you're saying he came to Yujie's place tonight hoping to do something, that's really not the case.

Jiang Cheng isn't that bold yet.

But if he could do something, Jiang Cheng believed he wasn't a polite person! "You'll stay in this room tonight; I'll show you around," Su Manyao said as she walked over.

Wearing slippers, in this home setting she looked like a newlywed wife no matter how you looked at it.

Jiang Cheng's gaze fell on Su Manyao's face; she remained as aloof as ever.

But the two blushes on her cheeks and her pink earlobes couldn't be fooled.

Yujie was nervous! "What are you looking at?" Su Manyao walked forward without glancing sideways, asking in a clear, cold voice.

Following behind Su Manyao to see the room he'd sleep in tonight, Jiang Cheng casually remarked, "Looking at a mature older sister, there's just a charm that a young girl doesn't have."

Click! Su Manyao suddenly turned, her beautiful eyes locking onto Jiang Cheng, flashing with sharpness!

"You're saying I'm old?"

Her voice sounded like it carried frost, capable of freezing a person!

Jiang Cheng was frozen by her.

Done for!

Su Manyao slowly stepped toward Jiang Cheng, step by step, and he couldn't help but retreat.

"You're saying I'm old?" Su Manyao asked again.

Jiang Cheng leaned against the wall, cornered by Su Manyao, "No, I said you're mature!" he said.

Su Manyao replied, "Maturity is old age!"

Jiang Cheng felt Su Manyao's warm breath spray onto his face, and he fell silent.

How to coax? Kiss her?

He saw Su Manyao approaching, getting closer and closer as if she wanted to press him to death!

Pop! Too close! Jiang Cheng puckered his lips and kissed her.

Su Manyao froze, staring blankly at Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng's heart also panicked, not knowing if this was right, mainly because he'd never coaxed a girl before.

"I was saying Yujie is beautiful," Jiang Cheng said, leaning against the wall.

Su Manyao took a deep breath, glared fiercely at Jiang Cheng, then turned and walked toward the living room, muttering angrily, "Go to sleep, you'll sleep on the sofa tonight!" Jiang Cheng breathed a sigh of relief, summed up the lesson—anything goes, just don't mention a woman's age! He hurried back to the living room, flopped onto the sofa, grabbed the remote, turned on the TV, kicked off his slippers, and drew his legs up onto the sofa.

Knowing Jiang Chen had come out of the hallway leading to the bedroom, he didn't even glance at him, stayed cool, and watched TV.

Jiang Cheng stood in the living room, looking at Su Manyao; let him be angry if he wants, he also didn't know how to coax, and he truly couldn't learn Deng Qi's sycophantic ways.

Then his gaze turned to the kitchen; he walked over and asked, "What ingredients do we have to make something to eat?"

Eating cafeteria food every day at school has already gotten Jiang Cheng sick of it.

Actually, before college, when he was at home, Jiang Cheng would occasionally cook something to eat himself.

Now living in the dorm, he doesn't have that opportunity.

This was the first time he'd been to someone's home in Modu, so Jiang Cheng felt a bit of a craving to cook something himself.

After asking, he didn't hear Su Manyao speak; he turned back to see her silhouette on the sofa, and after two seconds heard her say, "There's nothing to eat at home."

Then she paused, and her voice came again: "I'll call the property management to have them send something over; what do you want to eat?"

Su Manyao also felt a bit embarrassed; such a big house, yet there's not a scrap of food in it.

This is also because she can't cook—she can't even boil instant noodles properly—so her kitchen, from closed to open-plan, has become mere decoration.

The fridge was open, but inside there were only drinks and fruit.

Jiang Cheng said, "Ask if they have shrimp? Have them send shrimp, plus wontons, and we also need scallions, ginger, garlic and such seasonings."

Jiang Cheng hadn't expected the estate's service to be this good—someone still calls property management late at night to have ingredients delivered.

"Okay." Su Manyao replied, then dialed the phone.

Jiang Cheng walked into the kitchen, intending to first get familiar with the layout.

Su Manyao's kitchen is huge, with all the equipment and utensils one could need, plus various seasoning bottles neatly arranged, giving it a high-end, upscale feel.

Probably a regular cleaning maid has tidied it up; the countertops are spotless, as if never used, with not a speck of dust.

Jiang Cheng drew out a knife, adjusted it in his hand, then habitually placed it in the vegetable sink and reached to turn on the faucet.

Pop! As soon as he opened the faucet, a stream of water shot out instantly.

Not into the sink, but straight at Jiang Cheng's face! He jumped back a step, but instantly reacted, reaching out to block it with one hand while dropping the knife with the other to shut off the faucet.

But the faucet wouldn't shut off; instead, the handle broke right off.

Jiang Cheng froze, then both hands went to block it.

But the water flow was too strong, it drenched him through, and he still couldn't stop it.

Jiang Cheng was dazed.

Your place is so high-end—is the kitchen faucet really this shoddy? Touch it and it shoots water like crazy—does it even have that much water?

Tap-tap-tap-tap footsteps sounded behind him, Su Manyao ran over, her aloof voice now tinged with anxiety: "I forgot to tell you, the faucet at home is broken—since it's never been used, I never had it repaired."

She stood to the side watching Jiang Cheng frantically block the faucet with both hands, but the water still sprayed onto his face!

"Big sis, this isn't the time to talk about fixing it—tell me how to shut off this water!" Jiang Cheng urged.

If it keeps spraying like this, you could swim in it! "You called me big sis!"

Su Manyao's voice was icy, as if she gritted her teeth: "You're dead!"

Then she quickly walked over and said, "The safety switch is right here—just turn it off."

Although she had said Jiang Cheng was dead, she still helped him turn off the safety switch, and the water flow stopped instantly.

Bang bang bang! Just then, a knocking came from outside.
