Chapter 83: with translation of title
Three people stood at the doorway, gazing at each other, each lost in thought about the current situation.
Just then, Su Manyao's voice came from inside the room.
"You're gonna die!"
"You tied me up and ran off, not coming to untie me—I can't undo it."
Yujie's voice was filled with anxiety and reluctance.
Su Bancheng stood at the doorway, his whole body stiffening, eyes wide as he looked at Jiang Cheng, then glanced at the room behind Jiang Cheng, though from his angle he couldn't see the living room.
He was so shocked his jaw almost dropped.
His daughter had never dated before, even saying she'd never get a boyfriend in this lifetime—how could she be tied up like this so soon? Is she playing around like that?
Wang Lin also nervously grabbed her husband's arm, listening to her daughter's coquettish cries from the room.
She gave Jiang Cheng's abs a resentful look.
Looking at such a sunny young man, how could he bully people like this? Jiang Cheng noticed their gazes, and his scalp went numb.
He had just had a random whim, casually tying the shoelaces of Su Manyao's two shoes together.
Who would've known this would happen? Those two outside, hearing Su Manyao's shout, are bound to misunderstand!
But Jiang Cheng couldn't easily explain.
"Why would I need to explain? Who are you two? What are you doing!"
Jiang Cheng spoke somewhat angrily, being mistaken for a pervert out of nowhere would annoy anyone, and he couldn't explain it.
"I"
"We."
Su Bancheng and Wang Lin exchanged a glance, the couple wishing they could find a hole to hide in.
They came unannounced, storming their daughter's home—who knew they'd encounter such a scene? If Manyao found out, she'd probably never speak to them again in this lifetime!
"Jiang brother, come over." Su Bancheng beckoned Jiang Cheng in a low voice.
"What are you talking about? Do as you please, brother!"
The speaker wasn't Jiang Cheng, but Wang Lin, frowning and glaring at her husband.
How did they end up calling each other brothers?
"He's Manyao's boyfriend, you know that?"
"You're Manyao's dad, you know that?" Su Bancheng also realized, "Oh oh!"
He stepped forward, put his arm around Jiang Cheng's shoulders, and lowered his voice: "I'm Manyao's dad!"
Upon hearing that, Jiang Cheng immediately objected: "I'm still your dad, aren't I? You're Yujie's dad?"
The latter part of his sentence, Jiang Cheng lowered his voice and stared wide-eyed at Su Bancheng.
"Shh!"
Su Bancheng made a hushing gesture on Jiang Cheng's shoulder: "Little Jiang, do me a favor, don't tell Manyao I came over!"
Their heads were close together, Jiang Cheng looking at Su Bancheng.
I really don't know how this old coot produced such a beautiful daughter, but looking at the elegant lady beside him—likely Manyao's mother—I instantly understood why Manyao turned out so gorgeous.
"Why?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"When things are abnormal, there must be something fishy!" The person before him is Yujie's father, yet here I am, a stranger man in Yujie's home, bare-chested and clothedless.
Yujie's father didn't mind at all; instead he said not to mention he'd come over.
What kind of move is this? Normally, at this point the old geezer would grab a stick to chase away the yellow-haired punk—but Jiang Cheng's question left Su Bancheng speechless.
He stared at Jiang Cheng, frozen for two seconds, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small notebook with a pen clipped inside.
He opened the notebook, scribbled with the pen—who knows what he wrote—then tore out the page and slapped it onto Jiang Cheng's chest.
"This is my check; the amount is blank, fill it in yourself!"
"A check—I've never used one in textbooks. But it's a good thing, Jiang Cheng clutched it tightly."
"Not because he's greedy, mainly he didn't want the check on the ground."
"What is this old coot up to? Give me a million to leave his daughter?" "Uncle, you've misunderstood—I'm not that kind of person; no matter what, I won't leave Manyao, and if you offer more money, I'd feel uneasy." Jiang Cheng spoke in a low voice, righteously.
Su Bancheng:???
"So the price is awkward, meaning there's still room to negotiate?" "I mean, just don't tell Manyao I came over!"
"Oh oh oh, I won't say, uncle, rest assured!" Jiang Cheng patted his chest in promise!
"Are you here? Can you hurry up? How did you tie this? I can't undo it." Su Manyao's voice came again from the room, sounding uncomfortable.
Su Bancheng startled, tiptoed to peek inside, and said: "Little Jiang, that's settled then—definitely don't tell Manyao I came over!"
"I'm leaving now!"
Having said that, Su Bancheng hurriedly grabbed his wife and headed for the elevator.
"Go, go go!"
"Hurry up, what are you looking at!"
Wang Lin seemed still reluctant, glancing at the room behind Jiang Cheng, then at Jiang Cheng's bare chest.
The elevator doors opened, just as property staff came out; the two—speedy certification and the wandering spirit—went in and hit close, leaving the property staff outside.
The property staff member, holding clothes, glanced at the elevator that had just closed behind him, then at Jiang Cheng's bare chest.
"Can't you wait a few more seconds for me?"
But he definitely couldn't say that; he complained inwardly but smiled and handed over the clothes he was holding.
"Sir, these are the clothes you ordered."
Jiang Cheng closed the door with the clothes against him and returned to the living room; Su Bancheng's check was left behind, placed in the clothing's pocket.
Jiang Cheng hadn't really expected to take his money, but just leaving it like that didn't seem right either.
Right? "What are you doing taking so long to come back?"
Yu Jie obviously had some resentment, her shoes were still tied together, and she had both legs up on the sofa.
Jiang Cheng looked at her helplessly; if she was really uncomfortable, couldn't she just take off her shoes?
He just tied the shoelaces of the two shoes together; he didn't actually tie Yujie's feet tightly.
In short, Yujie basically just didn't want to take them off and wanted to play this kind of game with him.
Yujie probably doesn't like being tied up, does she?
"What are you looking at? Hurry up and help me undo it!" Su Manyao said.
Jiang Cheng didn't call her out, walked over and sat beside her, then casually untied the shoelaces binding the two pairs of shoes, took off the shoes, and placed them aside.
"What were you just doing? Why were you out for so long?" Su Manyao asked doubtfully.
"It's fine, the property person asked if my clothes fit." The parent casually made up an excuse.
Yujie's dad didn't let him say it out loud; he had come over.
Jiang Cheng still doesn't know what's going on, so he certainly can't directly sell out the old man.
At least, judging by the old man's attitude, he isn't very resistant to him.
So Jiang Cheng thought, to avoid complications, he'd better not say it! "Do you want to take a shower when you come back tonight?" Jiang Cheng changed the subject, saying: "Why don't you go take a shower first? After you finish, it'll be just in time to eat; I'll go prepare food now."
"Of course I need to wash." Su Manyao said irritably.
Jiang Cheng looked at Su Jiang Cheng sitting on the sofa without moving and said, "Then you go."
"If you don't loosen my feet, I can't go."
