Chapter 91: She's just young, she doesn't understand!
Jiang Cheng and Ye Qing sat down in the lounge area of the recording studio; Lao Chen came over and moved the front desk aside. He sat opposite Ye Qing and asked what service she needed.
Ye Qingqing looked slightly flustered; she was just following Jiang Cheng to record a song, she wasn't the boss, Jiang Cheng was the boss. She turned to look at Jiang Cheng, but Jiang Cheng wasn't there, so Ye Qing softly said: "I want to record a song I sing myself."
"Smack!" Lao Chen, as if he had a serious illness, slapped loudly and said: "Great, beautiful lady, we're professional here; you might not have heard, but have you heard of the award-winning composer Chen Yongwang from the Entertainment Circle?"
"That's right, Chen Yongwang is our boss here; do you see him? Our place is called Yongwang Recording Studio!"
"I am Chen Yongwang's younger brother Chen Wangwang; you can call me Lao Chen!"
The older brother is called Chen Yongwang, the younger brother Chen Wangwang—nice names—but Jiang Cheng doesn't know anything about any Chen Yongwang, teacher or not; it has nothing to do with his recording a song, as long as there's a recording disc that can capture the song he wants to record.
But Ye Qing, because of her career, understood when the other said this recording studio was opened by Chen Yongwang; Jiang Cheng's eyes lit up a bit and he said: "Okay, then... let's record here?"
Ye Qing said while glancing at Jiang Cheng sitting beside her.
Jiang Cheng remained calm, sitting there silent, just staring at the guy who called himself Lao Chen, his eyes fixed on Ye Qing, a green light flashing in them, making one suspect he might pounce and devour Ye Qing the next second.
And Ye Qing was like a mature white rabbit, with a charming face, yet she appeared a bit silly and cute.
"Which song do you want to record?"
"Or an original work?" Lao Chen asked.
Jiang Cheng placed the paper he was holding on the table, pushed it over, and said: "The lyrics and score are here; just record according to this."
He sported a small moustache, a slightly chubby simpleton. Only then did he shift his gaze to the inconspicuous youth beside him.
After just a glance at Lao Chen, he dismissed it, thinking this must be the beautiful woman's assistant boyfriend? Not important; such a sloppy, unkempt boyfriend couldn't keep such a beauty.
He took the lyrics, opened the folded paper, glanced at it briefly then looked up, directly ignoring Jiang Cheng who had handed him the lyrics, and said to Ye Qing: "Your lyrics aren't that great; I just heard your voice, it's truly beautiful—using such a lovely voice to sing such ordinary songs is a real waste. I have songs personally written by Teacher Chen Yongwang here; would you like to pick one to try?"
He never even looked closely at the lyrics in his hand; most people coming to record songs at this studio are students from Modu University, and he's seen plenty of their tunes and lyrics—hard to describe—and there's never any surprise all year round.
"Ah? No, don't!" Ye Qing was dazed by the person's reaction; she had come to record a song, and that Legend she had previously sung at the company for the other party—yet he said that song was plain and ordinary. "It's fine, you can try; it's definitely better than the song you brought. If I can't beat him, I'll eat shit—if it doesn't make you like it more than the song you brought, I'll record your song for free."
"Oh, right, if you like it, I'll recommend you a package of 88,800, but our business is about tying karmic bonds; when facing clients with talent who are likely to become big stars in the future, like you, we usually give an 20% discount."
"However, miss, I think you'll definitely become a big star; trust my intuition, so this time, for the 88,800 package, I'll only charge you 20,000."
Ye Qing had never recorded outside; she looked at Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng nodded and said: "No problem, just go ahead; I'll sit aside and rest a bit—I haven't slept well this afternoon."
He then added: "Do you have photography services here? If so, please film the process of recording the song later; if not, please help me contact someone."
After Jiang Cheng finished speaking, he got up and sat on the nearby sofa; Ge You lay down on it.
The price increments for recording a song can be adjusted from a few thousand to several tens of thousands; recording a single track plus accompaniment, a price of 20,000 isn't cheap, but it's certainly not expensive.
Lao Chen finally discussed the price; the layout was handled by the young man beside him, and he immediately concluded that perhaps they were a couple—the girl is beautiful, just after the guy's money—but the guy doesn't look particularly wealthy.
So it can only be said that this beautiful woman before them lacks social experience, being too naive; this advantage is easy to secure.
"Come on, follow me; let's go over there to pick a song." Lao Chen said as he stood up.
Ye Qing was dazed; she had come to record Legend, but the person in front of her called it utterly ordinary, and the boss didn't say anything either.
So she went to pick a song with doubts, wanting to see what kind of song this person claimed could be even more exquisite than Legend.
Ye Qing, being a professional, after selecting the song, familiarized herself with it for a moment, then entered the recording studio.
Outside the recording studio, the mixer and Lao Chen sat together.
The mixer was a long-haired person with a cigarette in his mouth; he glanced at Ye Qing's figure inside the studio, his eyes growing brighter, and he said to Lao Chen beside him:
"What's the background of this beauty? His voice is pure talent, too distinctive, with great potential!"
Lao Chen licked his lips, took off the earpiece monitor, stood up and said: "Today we really picked up a treasure; this girl is a new client, a complete novice, with little experience—otherwise, with his looks, some bosses would have snatched him up already—but he came with a student."
"Excellent! Can we let this go? Hurry up and think of a way to snag her!" the mixer exclaimed, exhaling a puff of smoke with bright eyes, then, as if something occurred to him, he frowned and asked: "She already has a boyfriend—will her boyfriend interfere and cause trouble?"
Lao Chen glanced at the mixer and said: "Why the rush? Take it step by step—is this girl still clueless? Once she gains sense, will such a young student still catch his eye?"
"You stay here; I'll go call Yongwang—he happens to be in Modu today; this girl is a promising prospect, we can't miss her."
After Lao Chen finished speaking, he turned and walked out of the monitoring room; he was going to call his brother.
Setting up the recording studio isn't their main business; it's only a sideline. Their real profit comes from the management company they run behind the scenes, which signs and scouts some female artists and singers.
Like Ye Qing, discovered by them in the recording studio—if they can sign her to the company and train her further, she can make money for them! (End of chapter)
